    This was an amazing recipe! My husband and kids loved it, so I'm making big batches of mini waffles and mini pancakes to put in the freezer. I tweaked it a bit by adding a tsp of vanilla, 1/4 cup of plain sugar and 1/4 cup of dark brown sugar. I also used 2 cups of half and half and 1 cup of milk because it was all I had, but it turned out awesome! For the pancakes I used a 4-hole egg frying pan and for the waffles I used my 2 Dash Mini waffle irons! They came out so cute! Thank you so much for sharing this!

      I'm so happy you and your family loved them! I love how well they freeze. We just used the last I had in my freezer this morning, so I'll be making another big batch soon! I love the mini idea!

    OMG. I just made this recipe and loved it. I’ve been struggling with my sourdough starter for sometime (on my fourth try of a “no discard” recipe from other websites) and still not getting it right yet. One of the suggestions for my starter was to discard and starts again. I hated having to waste flours as I’ve already went through 2 bags of flour. I found your site and what to do with discards, and am so so glad I found you. Now I’m not so worried if my starter ever matures 😂, I’ll just make whatever I can with the discards 😅

    I am new to this. I have been saving my discard and want to make these pancakes. My question is, can the discard be used straight from the fridge or does it have to be room temperature for recipes? thank you.

      @TheHomesteadingHousewife  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @raeg9884 absolutely. Just add the honey when you add wet ingredients, and you may not need to use as much. I never need as much sweetener when I use honey In a recipe.

      @joebean3615 1lb of mix makes roughly 10 pancakes😁 but as you can see, my pancakes are huge! I don't know how many pounds my big batch is, but hopefully, that's a good starting point for you.

      It's quite simple really. I throw everything into my food processor and let it do all the work! I don't have a video yet, but it's one of the ones I plan on doing shortly. I've been super busy with the Farmer's markets this summer, but now that fall is here, I will have more time to make more videos😁

      @1nicenurse I'd love that! And yes, it's so expensive now, but also, the paragraph of ingredients is just off-putting to me. My Velveeta recipe, I believe, is 5 ingredients, and that sits much better with me

    What's the difference between sourdough and sourdough discard? Isn't it all the same?

    • @TheHomesteadingHousewife
      @TheHomesteadingHousewife  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      discard is referring to an unfed sourdough starter. yes sourdough and discard are technically the same, however some recipes will call for discard vs. a fed and acter sourdough starter

      @@TheHomesteadingHousewife Oh...ok...got it. So if I'm making a loaf of sourdough bread I always feed it beforehand, so it will rise and get very active. But for pancakes I can use the discard, which doesn't need to be fed. Thank you!

      Gas is much better, I had an induction stove and it disintegrated while finishing off maple syrup we made, it over flowed and ate the glass. I was not impressed.
