This is my favorite drum corps show of all time. IMO it's the epitome of elegance and power from a drum corps perspective. The show was so beautifully designed, there's nothing I would change... like Mozart everything had a place.
@@reinvestorintally I wanna say in the late 90s he arranged for Boston at least once (98 maybe?), but he was with phantom from 2002-2011, then SCV from 2012-2019
If I had a time machine I'd go back in time to experience this show in-person all over again. I would appreciate it so much more now. Their drill was much more effectively designed and each member on that field told a story, unlike the shows in previous years leading up to 2010. Also the euph soloist was my roommate in college and this show will always remind me of him
I listen to this several times a week because the music helps my soul. The opener and closer have a whole different meaning in light of my mother's passing yesterday.
I was watching this show on my big flat screen before my wife came home. She knew I’ve marched drum corps before but she asked “why are you crying?” I simply said “it’s beautiful and you wouldn’t understand.”
I think that most people who lack musical training can not relate to music if it does not have vocals, whether it’s jazz, classical or drum corps. Also people do not understand, in particular, how extraordinarily difficult drum corps is.
Proves that you don't need a field full of silly props and metal crap on casters to make a huge impact. Still one of the most memorable shows ever concocted.
They’ve sorta done that but haven’t been super consistent about it At the top of my head, I can think of (recently) 2012, 2013, and 2015 (kinda) having the set
The ending often gets me teary. Some of it is just the majesty and some if it brings me back to my DCI days. The rifle toss at 11:17 basically does me in, because you know how important that is to the show and how the young person doing that has spent months practicing. Perfect toss, perfect timing and she caught it. Success and a huge reward for all of her hard work.
There’s nothing better than an amazing 1st position and horn to the box like at 2:16. Camera angle is great and makes them look so powerful it gives me chills especially knowing all the months of hard work that go into making that moment and all the passion they have for this activity
I was in person during the major event in Minneapolis this year. Phantom was about to come out, but lightning was detected within the area and they couldn't go on. Sad.
for the 2023 DCI season I can only hope to see a show remotely as beautiful & powerfully serene as this one... seems they don't exist so much anymore. Love this post...
10:42-10:52, I always imagine in my head God speaking: “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter now, o’ redeemed by grace, into the inheritance prepared for you since before the foundations of the world were laid.” The gates of heaven open at the rollantando and boom. Impact. Heaven. Your loved ones. Everything makes sense as you now have God’s full perspective. This is it. The multiverse is unraveled, and Heaven is now all that exists.
I feel like it must suck that the show was designed so that they couldn’t get to look at the crowd at the end. Especially for finals night. At the same time, at least they are together in the tunnel at the end to celebrate
Could someone please educate me here? I’ve been a Phan for a long time (at least 20 years). I can’t figure out why the brass was so out of tune at the first hit. I know the mellos were out of tune but that is so out of character for PR. Was it the tessitura of the piece? Or the key? Maybe how it was voiced?
The only explanation I’ve ever heard was they started playing in the tunnel then had to run out onto the field then play again, and the tunnel and the field are kept at slightly different temperatures. I don’t remember it being that drastic of a change though so idk how well that idea holds up
Who keeps cutting the damn onions..
Without question, this was the most beautiful thing on the field in 2010.
Sad this is this show got sixth
@@itzz_da_marsh7 one day you’ll realize the points don’t matter. It was a pleasure hearing this live. If it got dead last I’d still remember it.

@@itzz_da_marsh7 ive been saying the same thing for idk how long. im convinced the judges are just biased at this point

JD SHaw coming back is gonna be HUGE for them moving forward. He IS the reason for the Phantom Regiment brass sound... especially in the low brass.
Is this the same JD Shaw that used to be with Boston?
@@reinvestorintally I wanna say in the late 90s he arranged for Boston at least once (98 maybe?), but he was with phantom from 2002-2011, then SCV from 2012-2019

Your not wrong, The phantom brass is back!
And so it was..
This is really something special. I can't stop crying but in a good way.
you are definitely not alone. sometimes This is my go-to for a good cry.
No other corps could pull off Michael Kamen's beauty. Phantom NAILED it.
Argyle HS in texas is playing this music for their UIl state show and they did an amazing job I’d recommend watching the hs version of this
brandeis high school in san antonio texas also has a marching show based off of this

This is one of the most underrated PR shows. The opening hit is as powerful any PR year

This has got to be one of the top 10 best "opening 90 seconds" in a show. So we'll crafted and unique.
The only show that has made me cry

Without a doubt PR knows how to reach right in and grab your heart with those chord choices. They have a knack for it.
8:49 is my absolute favorite moment in DCI. It just feels so warm, and the power behind it gets me to cry every time.
one of the best shows i have ever seen
rewatching this today helps me realize why I saw SCV 2022 outfits as vaguely familiar.. LOL

I have to have watched tis show about 100 times and I still teer up at 10:50 . It is just so beautiful and so well written. I love Phantom.
Phantom should do the Chevron set at least once per show. Like the Crown set
They’ve sorta done that but haven’t been super consistent about it
At the top of my head, I can think of (recently) 2012, 2013, and 2015 (kinda) having the set

The chevron set at the end. Horns to the box and KILLING it
Thank you so much I love you
Wow. Never watched the full show. It is absolutely beautiful
my band director was a baritone soloist in this show :)
Phantom > literally everyone else

the drill there is insane too

This show was so epic after their 2009 show.
Most beautiful show EVER
I miss this era od DCI, sad those days are well and truly gone
