This game has a nice variety of details, some of which are not present in most games which in my opinion just adds to the overall insanely good experience that is The Last of Us. 👍
Another nice touch that goes unnoticed often is how he will fondle the watch his daughter gave him at times he is dealing with an emotional situation, it's rare but he does it. Most notably at the end, when he is about to lie to ellie, and talks about finding a reason to survive. It's so very subtle, but so telling.
first thing I remember when I started playing the game was how ellie would always come and hide under joe whenever I took cover....oooh the memories felt like a virtual dad, protect her at all cost
Yeah man, everytime someone attacked Ellie i was just like "Get away from her, motherfucker" and then blast his head with my Shotgun just because he touched Ellie.
Firefly! Also if you turn around real fast you can see the end of actual animation as Ellie snatches the robot. Love how these guys use almost no off-screen magic.
OkTonD actually they use it more often than you think, theres a video revealing the off screen boundries of certain scripted and non scripted events and how naughtydog made them with the limited power the ps3 could offer at the time, still amazing to see how polished their games are.
If you walk backwards toward the door of the next area while facing Ellie the whole time, past the counter the animation will happen and you can see the full animation of her picking up the toy.
Yep. And people thought the same for that Uncharted 2 demo from E3. And then Uncharted 2 was better than what they showed. Naughty Dog is by far better than other companies making videogames. They know how to push up tech and create something special and unique.
@@elmudkipshidocondoritos3375 Scenes like enemies ambushing you, Joel checking revolver's drum (how many bullets he has). The demo they showed for part 2 was heavily scripted they done the same with part 1. Although it will be amazing there is no way in hell part 2 will be that fluid that would be the best ai in a game to date and with the visuals it's already pushing it highly doubt it will play that cinematic even the best pc rigs wouldn't be able to achieve what they did in the demo without some serious hardware. Something I just noticed on my current play through is that all of the cities / states Ellie and Joel visit throughout the game are listed on the back of Sarah’s band tee in the beginning of the game.

It´s just everything about this game, including the outstanding music. Naughty Dog created a goddamn maserpiece and I can´t wait for part 2 although, I am a little bit afraid, because I don´t wanna see Joel die, or Ellie.
The part where Ellie picked the toy. Hahaha I remember what I did was I adjusted the camera to the point where I can still see her and I saw her picked it up! It was amazing lol

I'm working on my second playthrough on Grounded. (Remaster has a set of Gold trophies for it. Beating it and then Grounded+) Anyhow.. the first playthrough on Grounded I had a very difficult time with the section of the game that Joel is hung upside down.) The second time it wa easy breezy. I have now been stuck in the section Ellie covers Joel with the rifle. Literally now for over 2 years. I've done it over... and over... and over... and over... and.. you get the idea. Sometimes there are just sections that get you stuck. Just keep trying. And to the point made earlier... that particular Bloater doesn't have to be killed. If you just want the pendant (I believe that Bloater is carrying a FF pendant if I am thinking correctly.) Then I recommend you go through the game on an easier difficulty first for a trophy run that includes opening all shiv doors.. collecting all pendants etc. As u end up wasting ammo and resources. I recall on my first grounded run I didnt even fire El Diablo. I only found 2 rounds total the entire playthrough and my RPG "SAVE IT TILL YOU NEEEEED IT" mindset was so ingrained i ended up finishing the game without using my fave weapon in the game. Anyhow.. I agree with you, the game is insanely awesome. When I played it for the first time and it made me feel different and I still do feel different. I never expected that game could have such a huge emotional impact on me.
Lina Maria Colonia no, Because of story-telling, atmosphere, soundtrack, characters, and most of all what it makes you feel. I pre-ordered RDR2 deluxe edition, and I said I LOVE rockstar, but the game is not as good as The Last Of Us. The story is not that great, characters are very “simple” and linear (except for Arthur, but take for example Micah: he’s the bad guy and you know it from his first line and I haven’t even finished the game), also the way it drives you during the missions: expect for the choice of the weapons you are using, if you go a centimeter too far from the objective it’s immediately “MISSION FAILED”. Sure, the details of RDR2 are fucking unbelievable, same thing for the stunning views and the perfect, unbelievably beautiful world they created. But a beautiful game is not enough to match The Last Of Us
the problem that he didnt mention the detail where joel put his hand over ellie when he take cover when you take cover and there are no other covers ellie will take cover with joel and he will put his hand over her to make space for her to take cover
I know I’m late to the party, but another fun thing that was mentioned in Retro Replay’s playthrough was that Ellie’s AI is distant at first but as Joel and Ellie bond, the AI tends to stick closer and closer to Joel.
I liked two details about tlou: 1:when you walk while aiming down sights the screen wobbles, unlike other shooters 2:when you have your flashlight on for a long period of time, it starts to flicker, making you shake the controller to make it work again; like shaking its batteries.
Great video! I love TLOU; I've finished it 4 times (Hard, Survivor and twice on Grounded) and I've never seen the animation at 5:19 before. This warrants a replay.
One other detail I think is pretty important noticing are the footprints of the deer. Before you fire the arrow the footprints are normal and coherent but after it starts to bleed, maybe 2 arrows in, it starts to stagger and the footprints show the struggle. This level of detail is just wow.
Something i enjoyed was having to work out the right way to go about things, like in combat at times you either have to fight through, stealth kill all or just run for it. There wasnt just always one way of doing things and that was great
Victorious_567 yeah I finished the game in like 3 days, I actually did like it even thought it felt like a mess, and I don’t think abbys the bad guy but at the same time I do in a way, probably because I was emotionally attached to Joel. What did you think about it
If I was God, I would hire Naughty Dog to built my world... I would only need a PS3 or higher, a graphic engine, and a couple of actors to make the dream comes true.
@@iwua37 I actually did not notice that. Naughty dog either forgot to add the watch to that outfit (which you choose from the menu)or they just meant for the outfit to exclude the watch.
Did anyone notice when you're not moving and ellie is just waiting there she'll be like "um...superr boredddd" and making gun noises like "per purr perw" shes so cute.. I experienced this on arriving to Jackson lmao
Number two blew me away the first time it happened. I forgot to pause and left the room for a few seconds, and when I came back Ellie was complaining about not moving. That's when I really fell in love with the game.
The first detail I really noticed when watching my dad play the game was that there was a dog barking while you play as Sarah. The barking stops abruptly shortly after Sarah finds her dad's phone in the kitchen.
I actually saw Ellie, well partly, put the toy in her bag on my first play through. I was searching the room for supplies and I guess I turned towards Ellie at the right moment just to see her putting her hand in her bag. Such a cool moment.
Firefly. So didn't get around to playing TLoU for the first time this past week. I had always heard it was good, but good doesn't even begin to describe how "good" this game is. I have emotionally connected to this game like I have with no other. Granted there are some games that sorta stick with you for a bit after you play them, but this game...it's something else. Great video btw. I really like the for shadowing of when you play as Ellie.
I played The Last of Us some days ago. I heard about it too, I knew that it Is a MASTERPIECE,and my cousin have this game, so I asked him to let me play on my Ps4,Now, I'm playing Left Behind DLC,I can't get the game out of my head
@@callzz17 For real!! Even to this day, I've replayed it so many times and it still carries all of its emotional value. Such a wonderful game. Soooo excited for Part 2!!!
Tommy walking up the wall part is funny. Thank god they say will improve AI in part II. Sure they saw AI fails like this a lot of time when developing the masterpiece.
Oh boy the combat alone could take up 2 videos like this :D The Clicker can also hear your flashlight getting turned on and off I know there are references to real life companies like facebook, but I had no idea they actually had a working twitter account and there are a lot of easter eggs to Uncharted and Jak and Daxter
I didn't know the clicker fact. Ya learn something new every day! Heres one for you; In grounded mode, armored humans are the only NPC that have to be two-hitted with an upgraded melee weapon, (not counting bloati bois, they can't even be melee'd)
i just realized how much the giraffe scene is like the brachiosaurus scene in the original Jurassic Park. Joel is Alan Grant while Ellie is Lex and Tim.

I think Naughty Dog did a great job with balancing Ellie's carachter, even though it's a survival situation, she still behaves like a real fourteen year old might, her sense of fun and innocence juxtaposed against the horror not just from clickers but other Human Beings

If I was God, I would hire Naughty Dog to built my world...
I would only need a PS3 or higher, a graphic engine, and a couple of actors to make the dream comes true.
rip humanity
If you were God, you wouldn't need a PS3, you could make it a reality.
3:26 Where is Joel's watch?
It has always been on his left hand wrist.Check when he was with Sam and Henry,it was on his left as he is turning when Ellie picks up the toy.
@@aleysaucy well it is not there, wair for the camera to turn to his left hand
@@iwua37 I actually did not notice that.
Naughty dog either forgot to add the watch to that outfit (which you choose from the menu)or they just meant for the outfit to exclude the watch.
iwua96 u, it’s not their either
@@unique6062 read the whole thing, including comment I replied to
Did anyone notice when you're not moving and ellie is just waiting there she'll be like "um...superr boredddd" and making gun noises like "per purr perw" shes so cute.. I experienced this on arriving to Jackson lmao
Number two blew me away the first time it happened. I forgot to pause and left the room for a few seconds, and when I came back Ellie was complaining about not moving. That's when I really fell in love with the game.
Who’s ready for The last of us part II? (nice vid btw)
2020
10:23 these pages still exist boys:)) it's soooo nice to see that
the best game!
(nice vid)
2:37 *happy guitar music plays while man who just got knee capped begs for his life*
The first detail I really noticed when watching my dad play the game was that there was a dog barking while you play as Sarah. The barking stops abruptly shortly after Sarah finds her dad's phone in the kitchen.
I Love You The Last Of Us
PİRANNAH 123 i too
Name one person who doesn’t
(Apart from Xbox fanboys that have “played it” and say it’s terrible)
I like how the a.i pull joel down!!!
Not too many better games out thare, still playing it 6 years later
I actually saw Ellie, well partly, put the toy in her bag on my first play through. I was searching the room for supplies and I guess I turned towards Ellie at the right moment just to see her putting her hand in her bag. Such a cool moment.
Firefly...
Very nice, thank you. Some I knew, some I didn't. The painting was new to me, that's a brilliant detail
@@cephquepheas you're right,the best story
cant believe it was a 2013 game, like damn. it really was something different and a work of art. tlou2 just didnt leave as big of a mark as tlou1 did.
TLOU2 was kinda trash imo
4:45 that AI enemy walked right up to Tommy and didn’t react. And Tommy later can be seen walking up the wall
Tommy walking up the wall part is funny. Thank god they say will improve AI in part II. Sure they saw AI fails like this a lot of time when developing the masterpiece.
@@johnnyfreetanga5506 isn't it AI
@@itsclemgamerogdoms1clem773 sorry, I understand nothing from your mention.

@@unsavourylittlerunt oh, thank you Single. Fixed.
4:48 i like how tommy is just chillin in plain sight lol
When you see the connection between the characters in Last of us it becomes so wholesome
Wow I didn't know they did that with the companies. This is why the last of us is soooo good
Glad a girl gets it
You missed a detail: the little alergon/dust things that float around
Oh boy the combat alone could take up 2 videos like this :D
The Clicker can also hear your flashlight getting turned on and off
I know there are references to real life companies like facebook, but I had no idea they actually had a working twitter account
and there are a lot of easter eggs to Uncharted and Jak and Daxter
I didn't know the clicker fact. Ya learn something new every day! Heres one for you;
In grounded mode, armored humans are the only NPC that have to be two-hitted with an upgraded melee weapon, (not counting bloati bois, they can't even be melee'd)
i just realized how much the giraffe scene is like the brachiosaurus scene in the original Jurassic Park. Joel is Alan Grant while Ellie is Lex and Tim.
The way she says "miss you." when you hover over Riley's pendant, UGH MY HEART
4:56 you can see ellie walking into a wall.
Wtf
Wow I never noticed that about 13!
"Queen FIREFLY" ;)
If u look back quick enough u can actually see an animation of Ellie picking something up for the first detail
I love the voice acting in this game, and the second one. It's truly amazing!
Best..game...ever

Red dead redemption 2
The witcher 3
Zelda breath of the wild
Horizon zero dawn
Are much better than tlou
I love Last of Us but it's not the best game ever
@@linamariacolonia8310 red dead redemption 2 good story slow pacing guarma section was unnecessary and pointless. Um let's see realistic gameplay that made the game slow and unresponsive 10 second animations for looting things wow so much fun, oh look wow those shooting mechanics hold l2 and r2 bam auto lock l2 and r2 bam so much fun I wonder what happens if I try to shoot without auto aim oh my god it's like stirring a knife through a bucket of rocks. WHAT mission design is restrictive and extremely scripted? I cant do anything remotely creative or I fail the mission? Why do I have to always go to one spot ride there talk to an npc watch a cutscene then rid eon horseback with blah blah dialogue then oh no shooting section. surprise boom bam done that's like 90 percent of the mission structure wow such a masterpiece everyone truly a remarkable game!!!
@@linamariacolonia8310 witcher 3 gameplay wise yes but story not even close sorry m8. And I have never personally played breath of the wild. And really...horizon zero dawn has good ganeplay but mediocre story.
Firefly!
Warrior_II Thanks for watching!
I am always watching
can you do the detail of the game called "Spec ops the line"?
I think Naughty Dog did a great job with balancing Ellie's carachter, even though it's a survival situation, she still behaves like a real fourteen year old might, her sense of fun and innocence juxtaposed against the horror not just from clickers but other Human Beings
All of these just show how much effort has been put into the game to make it what it is. This is one of the best games I've ever played and I'm glad to see people still play this masterpiece. Keep it up!
Anyone in 9/25/2019 ? Or just me 😀
