Man I really hoped the solutions in this thread would help me but they did not. As soon as I close the Elgato capture software my audio in OBS dies. I do have the "monitor and output" turned on. Question though. I have the input video source set to the capture card device and the audio is coming into OBS as Desktop Audio. Do I need to bring the audio in as its own source into OBS? Currently, it's not listed as a source and just shows as Desktop Audio in the mixer. It would be nice to have it as a source though so I could not include audio on some of my slides. Right now since it's snot a source and just comes in as Desktop Audio it plays on all slides and I have to physically mute the sound on various slides (like if we want no sound on a stream will start shortly welcoming slide). Any ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Hi, I have the S+ version. Streaming from my Nintendo Switch trough OBS. My issue is that after cca 2,5-3h my sound cuts out. I have the 4k elgato software installed, I always check if the sound works before I turn on OBS ans start the stream. So for the 2,5-3h it works fine, then cuts out. Is there any other way besides resetting OBS and turningbon the 4k software that Can fux this, please? Thanks a lot. 🙂

dudee youre a life saver. i just set my systems up to run through a virual mixer and i couldnt figure out why i was getting echoes only on game sounds - it was because i had to uninstall the sound capture for elgato! thanks so much!

This was the exact issue when streaming from my Xbox through my PC and went in and changed the input for audio. Worked instantly!

Hi. I connect elgato HD60 S+ with iphone 8 plus and macbook M1 chip. However, I can not receive any sound from OBS or Game Capture. I checked input settings, and there are chosen both HDMI and Analog Audio. But the issue still persist. Please help me
Thanks, this worked for me as well! Nintendo Switch with an HD60S - couldn't get any sound at all. Downloaded the game capture software from Elgato, booted it up, had sound, closed it, relaunched Streamlabs OBS. Instantly the sound worked.

Hey, thanks for the video. So, this helped and the Elgato sound started running in OBS however after I plugged in my new Mic which I can use with USB 2.0 or AUX the Elgato Game Sound in OBS stopped again. Is it possible that the fact that my mic is USB 2.0 and Elgato HD60S is using USB 3.0 can cause this problem? I have game sound in my headsets which are connected to the capture card via Chat Link, also the mic is working perfectly in OBS however the game sound is not going thru OBS and into my Twitch channel. Any input on this will be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Thank you for making sense of this topic. I never had this issue, until I uninstalled the Elgato software. I'll give this a try and I hope this resolve my issue and I can have gameplay audio back in my streams.

That's weird. Should not be the case. Maybe restart your computer and your console?

Hello! Alright I finally got a chance to do some troubleshooting to see if I can resolve my audio issue. The issue is with The Elgato 4K Capture Utility (which is, recommend by Elgato for the Elgato HD60 S+. It was slowing down my hard drive, because it was recording on the 4K Capture Utility and OBS Streamlabs simultaneously.
I redownloaded Elgato Game Capture HD, which, installs Sound Capture too. After testing it on OBS Streamlabs, now I have great quality sound (no distortions) again to go with my gameplay.
I appreciate your responses. My case is special to fix this issue, but I never would have solved it without your video and responses. Thank you for your help and I hope this will help any others. I hope to make a video to share this info. Thanks again!
Hi this works but for me I have to have the Elgato capture card system open to have sound closing it just goes back to no sound, which is annoyin. I've got everythin installed correctly

When i have my pc on i cant get volume to my monitor that i play my xbox on nor the elgato software. when i turn my pc off it plays audio through my speakers. I have the stuff installed and it used to work but i dont know why it isnt now. PLEASE HELP

When I have my headset plugged into my controller I get no sound coming from OBS but as soon as I take out my headset from my controller I get sound in OBS idk how to fix it.

Did not work for me. Now I have tried everything I can think of, even re-installed Windows 10. still no game audio and it´s only when I use any recording software..I dont know what happened. Everything worked fine a while back.

well i heard the audio in elgato. closed it and opened streamlabs and now i cant see the console screen. totally black.
Same issue on a M1 Mac. This resolved it but it is annoying that you have to open another software.
What if I’m on Mac and The program isn’t compatible for me?

I have elgato capture softer along with the sound capture, it plays sound when on the elgato app but sound wont play on my stream labs which is frustrating, anyone have any solutions?

i dont have issue getting sound, my biggest issue is keeping the sound throughout my stream. I have my Xbox conected the my pc via the Elgato. Ill be going fine and then the audio will cut out in obs and on stream but i wont know until someone in the chat says something or I look at my obs. if I switch the audio device in OBS settings it will come back but only for a short amount of time.

If you start Game capture and OBS you can't use both programs at the same time.

Not even using the official Elgato Capture software you see the sound bars at the bottom right register anything. Video not a problem though.
Hi there, I have purchased the elgato HD60S+, and having the same exact issue.... I have the game image coming through but no game audio at all... I've looked at the settings, I've looked at my computer drivers... and I even downloaded the Elgato capture software, but unfortunately it is not available for the HD60S+ for windows .....
Having this in mind, I've been looking through some videos of people using the 4K capture Utility ... not even trying a lot of different options the sound comes up... Any ideas you would have to help me out?

how to just install the software without the sound capture.. it seems to automatically install both the game capture and sound capture
You have to uncheck that option when going to install
If anyone else still had issues with audio after like I did follow these steps if you have OBS
(Not sure what it would be other other stream set ups programs sorry)
Go to the video Capture for your game, go to tab settings for it and scroll to the bottom to Audio Output Mode, change it to Output Desktop Audio (Direct Sound)
It worked for me hopefully it helps out others too.
This helped me solve one problem but created another. I have the game audio now registering on OBS, but I have a monitor with no speakers and use a headset to listen to game audio/chat, as soon as I plug the head set into the PS4 controller OBS stops registering the game sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

So! I got in contact with Elgato, they had me run a system scan to see what could possibly be holding the capture card back from working, after a week of nothing I got a reply and was sent a driver download link from the technician. I downloaded it and well it now works.
Me too, cant get my S+ to work too.
I had no sound for so long (and I still don’t) and whenever I went live I plug my speaker into my PS4 controller that way I my viewers can here me and the game. The struggle is real. Hopefully this works for me.

Hey Hey! Simple solution! So in OBS, click the three dots next the video capture device >> advanced audio properties : change "Monitor off" to "Monitor and Output"....

James Hey! I am afraid you will always have to keep the elgato software always running when you record, what I do. Try this: Under sources tab double click video capture device: scroll all the way down, change the audio output modes. One of the three modes might help with the issue. You can try connecting a aux cable from the elgato to the device you are trying to record. Other than that, I have no solution. Sorry. Have a good day!
