Pairing GodoxV1 with Godox XPro Trigger

  • The basic process to pair your Godox V1 speedlight with your Godox XPro trigger:
    1. Put the V1 speedlight in Rx mode. Using the backwards Z button until the screen turns orange. It will say Rx on the screen. Unless you have an older firmware update, in which case it will say slave.
    2. Set up the channels. Use the menu button to scroll through to scan, and start. This will let give you a list of channels that should be free from interference. Once you have this, set the V1 speedlight to one of these channels. Then set the XPro trigger to the same channel.
    3. Set ID. ID can be left off, but if you do use it the trigger and the speedlight need to be set to the same ID. Can be found in both the trigger and the speedlight by pressing menu and scrolling to ID.
    4. Set up groups. Set which group you would like your speedlight to be in by pressing "GR" and cycling through the letters. Adjust the settings of that group on your Xpro trigger. If you're only using one speedlight, there isn't any advantage/disadvantage to choosing different groups. I generally leave mine in Group A.

    0:12 Step 1
    0:31 Step 2
    2:38 Step 3

    After months of idle use I needed a refresher on how to setup and use the XPro with my V1, this explained it perfectly, I'm sure I will forget in the future, but I saved this for future use. Greatly appreciated!

I was having such problems syncing my trigger unit with my 2 flashes (all Godox) and after fruitlessly watching countless videos not eh subject I came across your lifesaving video. It seems I had all the setting right but one-I was missing the ID settings. You saved the day. THANKS!!! Cheers, Bob.

    Thanks for your vid. It really helped me regarding the identity setting. For reasons I wasn't aware of I had managed to accidently set ID=3 on my V1 flash. This effectively meant I was unable to use with my controller, which had it's ID unchanged and set to 'off'. With the ID off on my controller and being unaware of the ID dimension, I had only varied channels and groups successfully controlling multiple AD200s. Up until now everything worked as expected except for my V1, even when set to the correct channel and group. Frustratingly, all I could do with the V1 was use on camera or in slave mode.
    Now understanding 'ID dimensions' I can alter this successfully too, albeit it's really overkill for my use cases - but good to know it's there. I just now need to 'hack around' in my AD200 menus to see if ID exists there too (I never noticed).
    I guess the general answer to this and many similar types of problems is that old adage of just RTFM

    Thanks for this video. I recently got mine and I have to be honest the build quality is fantastic and the prices also great but man if this isn’t the worst menu system I’ve ever used. The buttons seems more contextually based which only would make sense if it was a touch screen device where they can change. Navigation is also confusing and not very intuitive. I might exchange this for the Profoto system even though I’m reluctant to pay their prices.

    • @ImpossibleCreative
      @ImpossibleCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, yep, great bit of gear but they don't make it easy to understand and the instructions aren't very clear either. It's not too bad once you get used to the menus but I've got to admit it does take a bit of effort.

      You're welcome. The settings are going to be different depending on what I'm shooting, the flash setting does need to be on though. You should be able to change your shutter speed, however it will not be able to be faster than 1/200 unless you turn high speed sync on.

    This all seems quite straightforward until the part about using Group. There isn't a group of flashes here but only one flash. The "Group" setting seems to used to preprogram the flash to function in a specific mode/power setting. Also it seems essential that in manual mode both trigger and flash must have the same power output selected or can that just be dialed in and adjusted by the trigger?

    • @ImpossibleCreative
      @ImpossibleCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can make it fire by pressing test button. But if you want it to fire when when you take a photo there needs to be a way for the V1 to know when to do that, so you would need a trigger. I'm not aware of any other way to connect your camera to the flash without a trigger.
