But the 100 million dollar question is- does she exist elsewhere? In her world is there a Minato as well somewhere, and perhaps a Minako in the "regular" timeline? Or does her existence exclude the possibility of Minato existing and vice versa?
Nah. It's like an alternate timeline where their parents had either a boy or a girl.
It's sad how this game is essentially a single snapshot of the most ideal point of everyone's lives before bad things happen.
In the case of the Phantom Thieves it's honestly pretty weird. At this point, since Akechi is here, it means that they're all prepping for Sae's Palace. Not to mention it means that everyone is also feigning a friendship with Akechi.
Things are pretty terrible for the Phantom Thieves at this point. It’s just that they now have an extra member for the moment.

I'm glad we can put the whole "canon' thing to bed even though it was obvious. Minako is simply from a different timeline. It's even ambiguous enough that you don't know whether or not the P5 cast came from hers or not. Not that really matters.
The timelines are semi-linked. They don't want us to know which timeline is linked to which. We know P4 casts are linked to P3 as its canon in other games. P5 casts have never interacted with any of them and is closest to P3P FeMC.
Yet the games are still on one timeline.
She is from alternate reality or something, I hope they will never cross with her again.
Somanithel Kheang P5 is linked to P4 since Rise is a huge idol in their timeline too. Check some of the posters in the game. P3P (FeMC) is the only one from an alternate timeline. In that timeline there's probably all FeMC instead tbh

I felt so horrible for poor Minako when Mitsuru somewhat bluntly asked who she was. Proves how she's not so different from Minato after all. She's just better at hiding her true feelings behind her sweet and cheerful demeanor. But at least SEES was genuinely sorry they didn't recognize her despite her recognizing each and every one of them and try to make it up to her by making attempts to understand her better. I was shocked that the Junpei that's Minato's best friend had a crush on Minako. And there were hints that Akihiko and Shinjiro also felt attraction towards her too. Well, despite how the Yukari Minato knows and possibly falls in love with later doesn't know Minako, she does warm up to Minako pretty quickly too.
Im not sure with Junpei having a crush on her but i agree with this. Either because she is actually an alternate self of Minato or she radiates friendly aura

Yeah but, if you think about it, how much do the Velvet Room residents care about linear time? They're kind of located "between mind and matter, dream and reality" and all that stuff. Would beings like them even notice if they were connecting to different times and realities? They're just a bunch of powerful oddballs who seem to exist to continue on Philemon's mission to aid persona users, but are simultaneously shown to be individuals in need of self development via their social links and quests. Seems to me that they wouldn't always have the clearest or correct answers because of that.
On another note: I like to think the time shenanigans in the P2 games are what birthed Minako's parallel universe, what with her and Minato's personalities kind of reflecting Tatsuya and Maya's.

Of course, Theo exist in Elizabeth and Margaret timeline. They're sibling. But Theo is exclusively a partner of Minako P3 FeMC, just like Makoto and Elizabeth or Yu and Margaret. If Margaret or Elizabeth know Theo as sibling and Theo definitely know Minako, she is canon what ever your stance is.
Yeah, you know, knowing what potentially happens between Shinjiro and Minako in the portable game gives this scene a whole other extra layer of awkwardness....
Iirc at this stage of the timeline, Shinji would have been the only member of S.E.E.S she could have romanced at that point (since she doesn't freak out seeing that Shinji is alive)

Minako (Yuki Makoto's Female counterpart in P3P) being confused to cannon/uncannon reminds me of how Green/Leaf(fan name) is disputed in Pokemon since he is Red's counterpart, yet she appears in Let's Go.
It's a really clever way to bring in the P3FMC, but it is really sad (though in a way, she just makes more friends.) The way they did Minako's personality in this is just great.
Also 28:43 is an amazing nod to P4A.

No. The reason why it makes sense for Theo to be canon is that the Velvet Room transcends time and space so his existence isn’t really a question. But since FeMC is just a female option to makoto, it would be hard for her to be canon unless they retcon and change her origin to make her fit in the timeline
It’s a bit late but she’s cannon and not as we know from P4AU Yuki dies to seal Nyx in the main series but PQ2 implies that 5 may take place after she does it instead or they happen at the same time but we only follow after Yuki’s version based off of the arena games

I realise this response is 8 months late but Theodore did recognise Minako he's the one who asked the Phantom Thieves to help save her. Also, to be fair to Minako for the first half of the game she gets on so well with the Phantom Thieves they actually make her an honorary member. And thankfully in the second half SEES really does warm up to her along with male protag.

That's why you make the game longer. Either that or get rid of the P3/P4 crew because they've been in the media so many times.
Tossing out the P3 & 4 crew to have P1/2 would be a horrible decision. This game is already not gonna be the greatest sales wise because it’s coming out at the end of the 3DS’s lifespan, it’ll do fine as fans love this stuff but it’s not gonna be crazy. Removing the groups of two very popular games in the series for the groups of two far more obscure games (by comparison) would hurt those numbers a lot.
