This pattern would be perfect for charity quilts. Our quilting team at the craft group I go to had a request from an organisation for more quilts for children. This one would be good for that as between everyone there are a lot of scraps that would look fantastic all sewn up like this. Love it Kris. I see your hoops on the wall in the background. I have gathered all my things together and am about to start on mine. I have my treasured hoop which my grandmother gave me 50 odd years ago and a friend found a hoop at an Op shop for me so I must get busy with this.
Thank you! When I was a teaching, my kids loved matching games. It was a great way to learn! This would also make a great teacher gift. Thank you for watching! ❤️
I think so, too! It would also be pretty made with a jelly roll. Or other scraps. Or whatever! LOL! They are fun to make and work up quickly! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love how you placed your "hoop art" on the wall!!! So scrappy and colorful!!!💜❤️🧡💚 Thank you for this timely video....I was just researching coin quilts!✅ Looking forward to your next video- thank you for the sneak peek at the end🌸
I do not usually like quilts that are multicolored but the way you sashed with the black and kept the strips the same size makes it very aesthetically pleasing. 10/10 will try!
I have three bins of baby fabric 13:08 remnants. I make baby quilts for a pro-life organization in Israel. This pattern is an answer to prayer. Thank you and Happy New Year!
This makes me so happy! I love that you can use this to make quilts for Israel. Thank you for sharing. Reading this made my heart happy. God bless you. ❤️
@@SewtheDistance I have seen the video on the hoops and thoroughly enjoyed it. When I was a little girl my mother embroidered and my grandmother quilted. So that video brought back great childhood memories. Thanks again for the wonderful videos. Love your channel!
I have been working so hard in my sewing room all day and it was so nice to sit down and watch your video! ❤️😉 This really looks like a fun way to use up scraps! I also really love making quilts from strips because it seems to be so forgiving! If I am off… I just trim!
I just found you - and I am SO glad I did. I have about 5 bins of scraps and this is the perfect project for them. I even have a plan to donate several to the Linus Project and to our local Foster Care services. Thank you for sharing. I'm excited to check out your past videos.
You are so welcome! So excited you found this at the perfect time. Thank you for your kind words! Love that you are going to be making these and donating them. Bless you!
This so cute! I’d love to make this for my great grandson. I’ve never finished a quilt with binding before. How would you do this for this particular quilt? Would it be best to choose a bright fabric and sew that to the black or just tack it to a base layer. When I was young many years ago, I had a quilt on my bed and all of the squares were tacked at the joints with string that was just knotted. I remember the calm feeling that fingering all those tiny knots gave me. Perhaps it was embroidery floss I’m not sure. But I think I’d like to do that with this one. Do you have to use batting? Can it just be a cotton sheet? You’re a great teacher. I am enjoying your videos.
This would be a great quilt for you to make! I love that you want to make this for your great grandson! Here are so many ways to finish a quilt. You could use ties, quilt iit, whatever you'd like. There aren't any rules at all. Here is a great video on tying a quilt: th-cam.com/video/F4bLCfIFT5s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BFdOgZgolgd7VhV_ Here's another great video on binding: th-cam.com/video/0vCWpxBRs20/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iPXY_NcnUhS46nls I hope these help! ❤️
Drats! Not 2 hours ago I started cutting out 6” squares to make my first I Spy quilt after a lot of indecision and very little references to go by. Yours would have been so straightforward….but I’ll take some ideas from your video…. I think. Thanks!!!
Thank you I like your instructions and your voice it's very nice to listen to. I don't have a lot of scraps but I do have yardage, so I will try your method for looking for that (special) look of design to bring that better looking block.
Lois Eldridge, I've made 3 I SPY Quilts for littles using 5 inch squares. I sashed them with honey buns (1.5inch strips). 2 black and 1 white so far. Then jelly roll borders. They are cute and fun!!
Thank you! That is an antique quilt. I did a video reviewing it on channel, but I don't have a tutorial yet. Here's the Lessons from an Old Quilt video for that one: th-cam.com/video/80GgnvnM4iM/w-d-xo.html
Good Morning Kris, I am surprised that you have a stash that is twenty years old.. 😳 You sure don’t look old enough to have been quilting that long! I thought you were in your twenties maybe early thirti🥰es. I love this. This is a fun project. Thank you for sharing, 🥰 Chris
Good morning! Well, good evening now. 😀 You are now my favorite viewer! LOL! I turned 50 earlier this year. 😳 I still feel 20. Well, mostly. LOL! I started quilting when my youngest was born and he will be 27 this year. Eeek! Time sure does fly! My oldest just turned 31. Thank you for your compliments! It made my day!
Gosh Kris, I am Blown Away, truly, I Never would have known! I wish I knew your secret when I was younger. And yes, oh my goodness, my husband and I keep talking about how the time evaporates.. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for sharing, 🥰 Chris
Hi! So sorry about the delay in responding. Somehow a bunch of comments got past me. I just used a simple wave on this one using my walking foot. I also added some straight line quilting. I posted pictures of it on my Facebook page on March 12 if you are interested in seeing it. My page is called Sew The Distance. Hope this helps!
I really like the way you do your demos. Clear instructions with corresponding videos. I'm always looking for tips!! Thanks for the video 😊
Thank you! You are always so sweet! 🥰 So happy these are helpful.

I would cheat and make some double-wide to accommodate those awkward prints. But I cheat a lot. You don't have to.
That's a good idea! Thank you for sharing!
