@@Todd66 straight axle timmie is a hill killing monster. Ifs timmie is a hill killing monster. So what has been proven? Simply that with the right driver, ifs can at least keep up with straight axle. @@jeepinass I totally see where you are coming from. I don't build them, Tim Cameron does. I just film! TC and I raced at King of the Hammers back in 2015. We raced a Bomber fabrication car. We finished in 11th out of 120 plus people.
Will be really interesting to see how this buggy performs. I am skeptical about the leading arms design, especially after watching Cash's buggy last season which had this unique feature. Also seems that the gap between the very front end of the chassis and the front end is narrow, i.e. less suspension travel up front? Can't freaking wait to see this thing run. God Bless Timmy and all the does for this awesome motorsport. Thanks MadRam for the awesome coverage. :)
Correction...after watching this for a 2nd and 3rd time, I can see that chassis front end extends past the drive-line/axle just enough to clear and the sway bar set up should allow plenty of travel. Front suspension with a trailing arm design…interesting. High visibility seating position..looks like a well thought out rig. It almost looks like some Shannon Campbell would build.
Exactly, will be so interesting to see how this compares to Hell Bent. I'm super skeptical on the leading arm design (didn't seem to work well on Cash's buggy last season), but if Timmy puts something out you know its going to not suck :)
@@rodrc8158 cash's buggy is one of Tim Camerons old buggies, "Stand Back" was the name if I remember right. He may have learned a couple things from it.
@@jeffreyharvey1131 Yep that makes sense. I just can't imagine a rig performing better than Hell Bent, but we fans will all be expecting this new rig to do just that. Can't wait to see it in action. If it does better or even equivalent, then I will most likely be upgrading my 1/16 RC bouncer to emulate this new design. My current RC bouncer is modeled off of Hell Bent (Chassis design, suspension geometry etc) and the performance is mind-blowing, but for what I got going on, think I could do even better with a leading arm setup to get better front end suspension sensitivity since I am extremely limited in my shock options in the scale I am running.
Very interesting front suspension design. Usually front suspensions connect to, or near, knuckles but instead they're connected to front trailing arms? I don't know what they're called. I suppose that put those suspensions under lot more pressure because of leverage but what do I know, he knows what he's doing. Also, this exhaust sounds different. Doesn't have that distinctive "TC sounds" like Menace, Hellbent, Show Business they all had that distinctive exhaust sounds. Looks more orthodox, no independent suspension, no side mounted engines, simple solid axles and boxy rollcage.
It’s called Leading arm suspension and it pretty much does the same as a rear trialing arm. Allows for a lot more suspension travel. It’s very common in Ultra4 racing. Also it sounds different because it actually has mufflers on it instead of open headers.
So why did he decide to go back to a solid front axle? I ask that in pure curiosity without a lick of off-road bouncer experience. I get a solid axle is stronger, just curious if he had a lot of mechanical issues with the previous IFS? I just found it mesmerizing to watch the IFS work with the last bouncer.
He only drove the Menace in a couple races, then went back to the Hell Bent bouncer. He said the IFS and IRS is good for the man made courses. I think, just from watching the racing, that solid axle and the best shocks are the way to go. IFS and solid rear I feel would also perform well. No matter what there is no other driver like TC.
