It was my dad who introduced me to David Jason in only fools and horses. Still to this day my favourite sit com ever. He then introduced me to open all hours and porridge. I cherish those days as a young lad in hysterics on the sofa with him. I live in Australia now but everytime I miss home I just sit and watch a few episodes of only fools or open all hours and I feel better again. Thank you Ronnie and Jason. You are true legends and heroes off mine.
My Nan used to be a very serious person when it came to comedy, wasn't really a laugh out loud kind of person but David Jason's shows used to leave her crying in laughter. Thank you for bringing joy to her life, my life and all my family. Much love to both David Jason and the late great Ronnie Barker!! Anytime I'm having a bad day I'd put on an episode of Porridge or Only Fools and Horses and suddenly the day wouldn't seem so bad 😊
I’m sorry but Ronnie is 1 of the very few who actually deserve a knighthood can’t believe they let him pass away without it u could see in his eyes when David mentioned it that was his dream to he (sir) but in my eyes he always has been SIR RONNIE BARKER
How or why Ronnie Barker never got a part in only fools and horses is beyond me. He would have made the greatest British comedy show even greater than it was if that’s possible. 😂😂 two legends.
I don't think Ronnie would have ever taken a part in OFAH if it had've been offered to him. In professional terms they were like father and son, and all parents want to give their children freedom in their own projects, rather than accidentally steal their child's glory.
Great point… I always thought Barker would have been excellent as the Trotters’ dad had he not been cast already. The fella who played him was good though tbh. Was amazed Sullivan didn’t write a cameo role for Barker at Rodney’s wedding or even as a crafty con man playing off against Del in the Nags Head. What might have been…
Made me laugh, the banter was brilliant, every time David or Ronnie won an award, and they noticed each other at awards ceremonies , they’d become Granville and Arkwright, and jokingly talk like them, like Ronnie did here. 😂
What is there left to say about Ronnie Barker? I don't think we will see the likes of him ever again... R.I.P. Sir ...the one and only legend of comedy !!
I've been 'wallowing in bit of Nostalgia' the last day or two, 'Morecambe & Wise with Des O'Connor!' led me to here! ( btw I'm only 56! ) but seeing these greats is so enjoyable. True talent is timeless! I love Ronnie Barker's " I have an option.. no, opinion " ad lib, from failing eyesight reading the autocue! Brought the House down !
If you watch David Jason speech when Ronnie Barker gets his lifetime bafta, he makes a point to call him the governor. Love and respect like that like you just don't see these days.
Ronnie Barker, the very very best comedy actor and character actor we have ever seen on our screens. R.I.P Ronnie, you are sadly missed, but thank god we have your lasting legacy on DVD's etc.
HarveyAvk Ronnie Barker death was such a sad loss to show business . He was a such a great comedian and brilliant actor. I felt he retired too soon and should have been a lot more films .
My top two actors and I’m 16, Sir David is the reason I love comedy and it makes me sad seeing this because poor old Ronnie B didn’t look well here and it will be a sad day for me and quite a lot of the whole population when Sir David Goes but RIP Ronnie B
And I always wonder why... the greatest of them all... makes me cry as I watch him now, heavy day? an evening with 'Clarence', or a visit to 'Open all hours'... and relaxed...

Spot on. Two fine actors who were equally good at both Comedic and Dramatic roles (two sides of the same coin). Any one over the age of 16 can feel privileged to have shared the same time as both these men did

They were and are very funny ...Great in fact but bafta and numerous others have not recognised the greatest comic actor / writer comedian and his genius cannot be surpassed....BENNY HILL........RIP
