VOLVO LEAKING WINDSCREEN - FIX!!

  • In this video, learn how to easily fix a leaking windscreen on your Volvo without removing it. By back sealing along the top of the windscreen from the inside of the vehicle, you can avoid the risk of the windscreen breaking during removal and resealing.
    This is a common issue with Volvo cars, in my opinion the factory often fails to apply primer to the top of the windscreen. Over time, this can cause the glass to detach and allow for significant water ingress.
    Follow along as I walk you through the steps to fix this issue and keep your Volvo dry And remember, when applying the bond, make sure it is warm to make the application and smoothing process easier.

    Dound what i was looking for. Ive got a 59 plate V50 and the top of the windscreen flexes but not like on the video but it does leak on the driver side top corner and if you tap the screen it sounds hollow. In in North Ayrshire. Whete about are you based and thanks for the video.

    I just finished this project on my 2008 s80! Question for you: I did this on the passenger side of the windscreen because that's where the leak was... I went pretty far past where the separation seemed to be, but should I do the entire upper edge of the windscreen? I'm curious if doing this would prevent future separation on the driver's side or if that wouldn't really stop the issue from occurring later on. Thanks!

    If anyone is out there is a soaked Volvo, you can use a Vornado style heater to dry it out. I'm cursed with this issue, and had some success getting everything dry in about 12 hours.

    Nice one...u ever done renault master/movano? Somewhere water getting in between windscreen and dash...if really heavy can then start tricklong dwn inside and the underlay just soaks it up....hard to see right under lip of winscreen, looks alright but was thinking of putting a nice urethane seal all the way around on outside just to see if that does the trick. Anyway..any thoughts appreciated and appreciate yr video👍

    • @AUTOGLAZ1ER
      @AUTOGLAZ1ER  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the first thing you really should do is identify where the leak is coming from. It might not be the windscreen, if it is the windscreen and you can physically see water coming in between glass and body then you may be able to backseal it(ì wouldn't recommend sealing around the outside)failing that I would recommend a remove and reseal by a professional auto glass technician.
      The problem with the Volvos is a common known issue along the top edge so backsealing fixes it.
      Hope this helps.

      There is a link in the description for windscreen Bond which comes with a small bottle of primer, I use Teroson 60 windscreen adhesive from Hinkel but buy it in bulk as this is my job, you can use any adhesive that is designed specifically for auto glass fitment.

    • @AUTOGLAZ1ER
      @AUTOGLAZ1ER  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it has been resealed by a professional at a dealership and you still have a leak it might not be leaking from the windscreen.

      @tobyalan8874 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for your reply.really appreciate it. I have taken it twice to the Volvo dealer I bought it from. When I bought the car I had to ask for the loose windscreen to be rebonded before I bought it. It still leaked.4 times I took it back pointing out how damp it was and that water was coming in the drivers side. They then said there was a small hole that had been missed. I was told it was resealed again. Last week water was coming in by the drivers side at the bottom corner. There was also a bit of water coming down the driver's side front pillar. I might just have a new windscreen fitted. I regret buying the car. 😊
