I'm so glad I happened to find this video, I was looking for these for my own Atlas Plat Ronin and was debating on it due to the visor potentially not closing fully.
I’m not sure I’d trust my $450 GoPro to a $13 holder 🤷🏼♂️ but that’s just me 😂. As I said that I realized I’m trusting it to a piece of 3M tape 🙄 lol. Great vid man and if I haven’t mentioned it I absolutely love your new intro!! Thanks for the review brother 🥓✌🏼
To be fair, I was using a $10 amazon kit with what I assume was 3M adhesive. I had an arm snap off one day not recording and I somehow caught the gopro. I ordered this literally the next day to try lol.
I have the same one and love it except when I’m not using the GoPro and leave it off. It looks a little funny on the helmet. Also it tugs on the chin curtain but I’d still prefer that vs permanently sticking something on
@@ChopperFett I had a plastic handlebar GoPro mount snap off in my hand during this extreme cold we had. And another plastic part that had been 3D printed broke too. I switched my all of my GoPro handlebar mounts to aluminum ones with tethers now.
@@ChopperFett I don't think it looks any more goofy than any other mount. But it's got to be there for at least some shots. And if they are tits I'll feel 'em .Even if they are cold.😲🤣
@ChopperFett - 1) Does the strapping inside the helmet interfere with your chin movement? Mouth movement? 2) What is your mic set up in relation to this mount? It seems like this might interfere a little bit with a gaming mic setup...what do you think? Great video Brother!!! Maybe next time use an additional light source (flashlight?) when you're showing the straps on the inside of the helmet. I'm definitely going to look into this.
Thanks Toby! I agree on the interior shot. I promise I have already rectified this you’ll see in a future video haha. 1. I don’t feel the strapping at all inside the helmet, and the Rurocs have a very short snout in my option. It does bend back the chin curtain ever so slightly. 2. Mic setup is pretty simple. I use a Sony Ecm stereo mic with a deadcat. The microphone just barely sticks out of the cheek pad and all the wiring is hidden inside the liners. I have the connector easily accessed and run a 1.5 ft cable to my Tascam in my front pocket
I'm heading down to Cyle gear this week to try on helmets. A gopro bracket has been something I've been thinking about. I like the icon helmet but the shield covering the whole face is a problem.
I love the idea of this! I just don't think I could use it on my modular helmet. My helmet can be used as a 3/4 helmet as well, meaning the chin guard will lock in the up position...... Great review!
I'm guessing that mount is mostly for helmets that have like a beak per se in the front like an off road helmet sort of thing... Its definitely NOT gonna work on any of my helmets cause they're modular... But its a good review for its purpose brother keep it up... And Congrats on breaking the 700 mark!!!
Def gonna give them a go this season as I plan to do a lot more riding without having to record, so I want the clean helmet when just riding. Flight of the Magpie... thats bringing up a classic!
Are you using an external mic or the GoPro mic? I have the GoPro Media Mod and I was thinking to just use that to capture my voice since the camera will be positioned right in front of my mouth.. is that make sense? What are you using ? Could you show your mic setup? Sounds pretty good man. Thanks.
So I have now migrated to the media mod with a rode lavilier 2 microphone. I’ve only got one episode done with it but it’s also my latest if you wanna hear the sound sample
@@ChopperFett Gonna check out.. I did a video today doing a trail with my pedal bike just using the go pro attached to my handlebar and using the media mod to capture my voice and sounded pretty descent.. I just ordered this chin strap and ill test close to my mouth , im trying to avoid extra wires and stuff. haha
So far the visors I have tried it on, both Ruroc and Shoei have still latched closed. If it’s letting any air in it’s negligible at best. Thanks for the watch.
I have a shoei X14 and have mounted the bracket (the blue one) - the chin spoiler will have to be cut to accommodate the bracket straps for sure, but did you manage to get the chin curtain on without cutting the rubber insert that secures the chin curtain to the helmet?
Hey StarLord! Yep, the only thing I had to do on my Shoei RFSR when I mounted it was cut a single hole in the mesh part of the chin guard. Thanks for watching!
Thank you! One more question (I live in Thailand but am setting up my Shoei with the GoPro for a US Western states solo tour in August). What is the brand of microphones you recommend? Thank you again for your help on this :)
It depends on the GoPro. 4 and lower the Sony ECM stereo mic is great. If it’s 5 and higher a lot of people have good luck with mic adapter and purple panda
Hey, I got the blue one and I attached my go pro and it keeps flopping over. I have it on my dirtbike helmet and it fits snug but the go pro rotates along and end up falling over and recording my chest! It is quite annoying, I hope you have some advice.
I noticed similar. What I did was take some screws with same pitch and thread and used that to tighten it down. In addition to that I have a ulanzi magnetic mount and it doesn’t seem to move at all
I’ve had pretty good luck with mine. I do usually have to do just a bit of horizon leveling in post but I don’t lose much of the image. Thanks for watching man!
Ok I found it. That is very cool mate. Good to know. There is some that won't wreck your helmet and you can remove. Awesome.
Exactly man, I'd just die if I did something to the finish. I want to take the 3M mount off my matte blue Shoei but I'm scared to.
getting very slick in your production sir!
I appreciate that!

Yep, if I’m not recording i take it completely off so that you’d never know the helmet was a recording device.
That's nice...easy and transferable to onther helmets without worrying about using a sticky mount.
Exactly. And I’ve been liking matte helmets lately and fear the residue will ruin them.
Thats a cool little thing for chin mounts. I can't do that with the Icon airflight though, there's a special adapter for chin mounts for that helmet.
Yea the way that lid closes it wouldn’t work. But the airflite is gorgeous
Hahaha-my mom used to say that!!!! Great alternative, homie! Thanks for the new sticker! You da man! Love that storm trooper- esq helmet!
Thanks man.... yea that phrase is always on my head for some reason.
Thanks for the vid. Just getting started so going to give one of these mounts a try.
Good luck with it. I still use them when I motovlog with a helmet not usually set up for it.
I know this was a while ago, did you have much success with this thing? was thinking of getting one and they seem fairly good for basic POV use
Good detailed video. I might have to grab that mount and try it. Keep it up bro !
Thanks Turtle. I’ve def had good luck with it and worse case it was only like $15
Put that on my wife’s full face helmet. She’s happy with it. Works well. I like it better than the Sugru mounted arm extension thingy I have on. mine.
It’s very simple for sure. After a plastic arm snapped on me I don’t trust them hahaha.
@@ChopperFett I had a plastic handlebar GoPro mount snap off in my hand during this extreme cold we had. And another plastic part that had been 3D printed broke too. I switched my all of my GoPro handlebar mounts to aluminum ones with tethers now.
Nice for a full face helmet. My cobbled mount for my 1/2 helmet is off to the right a bit and I'm OK with it.
Yea for a half helmet you almost have to. Might look goofy with a giant arm wrapping around your face hahaha

haha, nice video man, i looked into those but i just can't get used to putting a GoPro on my bobble head, lol.
I called it and they said to talk to Setzerpendence for more money for more helmets, lids arent addictions.... lol

It’s not bad. My visors can still lock. There is maybe a smidge of wind noise let through but honestly not bad.

That I have not used so can’t help in that regard
