    I think an important issue is that the high pressure wash guns can damage gaskets and seals.

    So is it better to take the seat off or leave it on? I would think taking it off would compromise the electric components under the seat

    • @unccliff1
      @unccliff1 ปีที่แล้ว

      He went over that in the video, however I never take my seat off..it’s weird that he’s ok with getting the radio wet but not the seat..that compressed air will dry that seat just as it does the paint..it’s leather so it’s somewhat water resistant..that’s just me

    That electric stuff might be greased with electric grease but I'm sure it will still corrode with spraying water directly in it, what if you have power commander or any other attachments

    • @JonsMotorcycles
      @JonsMotorcycles  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've taken apart the connectors to do bars on other M8 Harleys, the connectors are very insulated. Not sure about the power commander, I've never had one.

    Careful with compressed air it can push water into wheel bearings and other seals, have you looked into getting a ceramic coat or clear wrap to protect the paint?

    • @JonsMotorcycles
      @JonsMotorcycles  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ive had a ceramic coating done on the bike, I don’t think the air is pressurized enough to mess with seals.

    Nothing beats hand washing a cold biike I saw a guy spray his HOT motor at one of these car washes and you could hear the crank case crack it sounded like ice on a pond cracking.NEVER EVER wash a hot motor even if it is running its not worth it.
    Always wash your bike with the motor COLD. I can't believe this the guy didn't warn anybody in this video about cracking the crank case or heads.

    • @matthewcesario2069
      @matthewcesario2069 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      False information. It’s a touring motorcycle. It’s not gonna crack from some water. In that case maybe you shouldn’t ride through a puddle lest the water temp not match the current engine temp. My achin’ ass, go back to watching the news in your basement

    • @RJ67.
      @RJ67. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matthewcesario2069 the guys bike was not running and I was standing right there when the casing cracked.
      Chances are it's not going to crack if you run a bike while you're washing it , however, I still wouldn't do it , not to my 32 year old Fatboy anyway, but hey, that's just me.
      You believe what you want. I'm simply reiterating an experience and you're trying to stand there and tell me I did not experience this and I'm sorry but that's what happened the guys case cracked when he sprayed cold water on it that's just a fact, a non debatable fact. If you don't believe me go run your bike down the highway then pull into a car wash shut it off and spray cold water on it, then take a picture or a video of it cuz I want to see your reaction when you hear the sound. Also what the hell are you talking about water temperature I didn't say anything about water temperature I said don't wash a hot motor with cold water if it's not running.

      Motorcycles are designed to be ridden in all types of weather. Throttle plate by design keeps out air until it's opened by throttle input. What little water if any gets in there it'll be evaporated by the engine heat.
