Wow, this is great. Thank you for the coverage. I bought the Link 1 with your recommendation and will be upgrading to the link 2 and giving my current one as a handmedown.
If I needed a webcam, I would 100% go for this one, no doubt about it. I love razer but this seems like it has so many more features for an equal/better price
Before I start here, I looked this up since I saw a lot of comments complaining about it and saw that both of these cameras do 60fps at 1080p. I kind of wish that was showcased in this video, but oh well. I wasn't expecting 4K & 60fps for the Link 2, though I _sort of_ feel like it probably could've made it into the Link 2C for that asking price. Anyways... I mean...yeah, the Link 2 is neat but pretty niche. For those that work in an office and do presentations and have no microphone or extra hardware to facilitate their meetings, I can see this camera shining. It can be a really good one-stop solution to those who don't want a complicated set up for their meetings, or have something small and capable of travelling with them. $200 is steep but if it's the _only_ thing you buy for video conferencing and you know you can fully take advantage of those features, which I know there are those people out there, than yeah I can see this working out well. The video quality isn't the best but it handles well what is important for work-related meetings and conferences, though I feel like there's a focus on features that could've complimented the camera better. Why have noise suppression in a camera when quite literally every piece of software for recordings and meetings have the same thing, and probably does it just as good if not better? That noise suppression was no better than Microsoft Teams. I think a better feature would have been a tracking feature that focuses on the active speaker, where the camera pans to look whoever's actively talking. This would've made better use of the gimbal and could make the camera effective for meetings in conference rooms, where multiple people may be present but not all in close to each other. The mic's probably not directional which is likely why this feature doesn't exist, but part of that $200 price tag went to developing irrelevant noise suppression. Maybe it's something that can be considered for the Link 3? The Desk View feature is a much stronger feature to flaunt, and more focus should be spent in adding more features like that. All in all, I actually get the value for this camera, even if it _is_ steep. This is a small singular device that lets people do a lot, which can be super helpful and utilitarian! _To the right people._ However, from here, it looks like some of it software focus was misplaced, and could've been redirected to features that better played to the strengths of the camera, rather than what's likely already adequately covered by the software the expected demographics would likely use this camera with. I hope that they keep developing more for what's unique to the camera, with that gimbal and what it can enable. As for the Link 2C? Yeah...sorry, that's a pass. The shining star of the Link and now the Link 2 is the gimbal, auto tracking, and the features enabled by it. Take that away and you're left with a camera that's outpaced in terms of picture quality/features by other cameras in the price bracket, and the pitfalls of features I mentioned earlier being adequately-or-better-served by the software likely used with this camera only further exacerbate the lack of value the Link 2C offers in comparison to competitors. The Link 2 can get away with image quality not being the best because of what else it can do. The 2C can not. Alright that's all. Despite the fact that this video didn't sell me on this camera, I still liked the video over all! I know this is just a random comment on a TH-cam video and the odds of the folks at Insta360 seeing this are slim, but hopefully they hear at least some of the feedback like mine, and continue iterating. The tech behind the gimbal features are pretty cool and seeing it in action is slick, and I'm interested in what might come in the next version. I actually know some coworkers that could take advantage of this hardware, so I'll pass it along to them. Thanks, Jay and team!
lets be honest, having the camera run at 4k or fhd doesn't matter for the quality because the lens is far from good enough for that sensor resolution. So just use it at fhd 60Hz and you'll get the same result as 4k60 would do either way
1080p 60fps with the right ISO and shutter adjustments, makes this look 3 times better than what its shown on most videos people are making on this camera. Also adjusting the white balance to your ring lights white balance makes it look better overall. I think the reason why he didn't show 1080 60 was because the updated app removed 60fps mode for some strange reason. I had to open OBS to select 1080p 60fps.
yeah, 200 USD is half of what you need to pay for used M50 mark II or canon T6 or Sony a6000.... and this way you will have awsome quality DLSR (better than any web cam) and you can use it for hand vloging anywhere or just use it as well CAMERA and take photos :D :D If those insta webcams go for like 100 usd , it would be a good deal, 200 i WAY to much.
Thanks for the review, it would also be helpful if it was done without studio lighting. What would the quality be like for the average home user without a professional lighting set up?
A lot of complaints it is a PTZ web cam on a gimbal you don’t need 60fps for a webcam 30fps is fine and it also has a dslr censor in it it’s no different than Osbot cameras if your broke go get a $20 webcam and it will look like a $20 webcam he is showcasing the quality and features you won’t get in other webcams that cost way less. Great video for content creators
I was watching on my phone, then opened the video up on my computer to get the affiliate link. I hate bulky microphones or headsets, and I've been looking for months for a webcam with great audio to use instead. This is perfect for my use case. Thanks!
When I bought the Link 1 in a bundle it was close to $400 CAD. The Link 2 at $270 CAD is a steal, I definitely recommend buying it if you were on the fence about the Link 1.
Price isnt a surprise really, theyve removed a degree of freedom from the gimball, it no longer corrects the Horizon which the original Link could do to keep the shot level on sloped surfaces, hence the "weird angle" for Nick
a word of warning it seems that if you have the link 1 and you update, it currently can't do (software wise) 1080p@60 for some reason, the older software could do that with the first version
What would be nice is a feature where you can chose anything for it to track. It could make I useful tool for content creators that don't have a Phil to record them working on something.
I don't know what it is but I have the insta360 link the first one. I love the smaller size plus I feel like it looks a tad better overall. Something just seems off with the 2. Idk if its the settings? no idea. I use mine at 1080p 60fps and keep my ISO to 800 and my shutter at 1/120. I even preset my white balance temp to the temp of my ring light. I feel like small adjustments like this can make this camera look SO much better if you have the right lighting. I really thought that this cam would bring 4k60 and a better sensor but its okay. Hopefully the 3rd model comes with that major upgrade. I just noticed something, They updated the app so you don't see the 60fps modes in the app but in OBS you see the 60fps modes on 1080p. So adjust on the app then set the fps to 60 on obs. It wasn't like this one the older app so I hope they patch that up.
I have not gotten through the full video yet, but I was wonder how much color correction was done on the cam shots? I have no doubts that the cam is that good, just wondering for transparency reasons.
What's the performance impact when using the features? I'm wondering if it's more or less intensive than using a different webcam and enabling Nvidia Broadcast features. Be it through OBS or the dedicated app. The gimbal tracking is awesome. Otherwise, it seems cool for non Nvidia GPU users
Funny story, as I saw this drop in my feed, my insta 360 link gen1 camera stopped working and I have no idea why. I submitted a tech support ticket and walked through steps to get it working and it needed to be rma’d. Overall, I’d say their support is super responsive and even though I’m 2 weeks outside the warranty from when I bought new through Amazon, they did issue an RMA and covered the cost of the shipping label. I just sent it out so I’d be happy to update here if I have issues, but I noticed on their website there is mention of an “upgrade replacement program” for other products they sell. I’m curious to see with the cost difference from gen1 and 2, if they just offer to send me a gen2 instead…
i got the insta360, WHY THE COMPANY DOESNT GIVE ME A SOFTWARE UPDATE? its NOT ok the software of the previos version of the product doesnt let me change background and more software features!!!!!!!!!!!
only thing im worried about is how clear is it when in a darker room with just some background lighting from like LED lights on the wall and stuff, as i never really have my can light on when gaming as its late night and family is sleeping
When you manage to get RTFM back I really think you should consider a couple of these along with the main came, would add some good focused dynamics to proceedings.
@@ThePaalanBoy I did consider a simple picture on the tool head, but it would be awesome if it could track things other than people without tricking it especially for the cost.
*WOW.... The Link 2 is absolutely AMAZING....!* The ONLY "flaw" seems to be it's AI processing of background "scenes". Those systems clearly need FAR more improvement to get the "edges" clean without artifacts, which has been a problem for a LONG time with most. There IS one possible "other" Flaw...? Does the Cell phone control of the camera ONLY work if you're connected to a Wireless Network? What if you're not, you then CAN'T use your Cell phone to connect to the camera? If so, that IS something they need to fix. It should be able to ALSO connect to the camera Internet or not. BTW, for those complaining about the 30FPS.... It may be 30FPS, but remember that this is a "webcam" not designed for high movement outside shooting, so 30 IS enough, but also the Camera itself lens and focus quality, and with the HDR clarity is FAR SUPERIOR to years ago cameras. So, while I agree 60 would be nice, as you can see from the video yourself it is NOT "low quality" whatsoever. It's VERY HIGH quality, literally no different than the "Pro" cameras they usually use. So, I think it's an absolutely AMAZING camera, and if you think less of it you're not thinking it through. I mean, that "Zoom" quality is amazing... Zoom has performed terribly on Webcams for years, this one actually works like zoom should. And all that gimble stuff, absolute game changer.
I'd love to have something like this for my classes - I try to video record my classes for those students that have to be absent - that way they can go to my TH-cam channel and still get thir notes but I am in and out of the frame because I pace - lol. THanks for the review.
It does have some great features. I actually like the built in lens shield. Although AI based webcam doesn't peak my personal interest, I can see the value in the in it. Especially with how well it focuses compared to mine.
You actually have to disclaim if its on x86/x64 or, if its on one of the new snapdragon X laptops, as the picture will be drastically different. Given the compression, i assume this is x86/x64 based.
It's cool but I don't think it's $200 cool for a webcam. I could see it be valuable to content creators, but for most people who need a webcam, probably not. Thanks for the content!
$200 for someone working from home should be nothing. Save that in a month of gas needed to commute. In a year of work it works out to less than $1/day.
yeah, im pretty sure you can use a "cheap" used android/iphone and most likely you have it at home already. use it as webcam, phones like samsungs s8-s9 can record at 4k 60 fps so or you can try even olders if you dont mind lower quality 1080p 30fps
@@daedulsworkshopTrue, but at the same time a $20-30 webcam (or the camera on a smartphone they already own) would be more than enough for most remote workers and they can put that money towards something else.
I haven’t seen this talked about anywhere, but can the webcam work properly mounted upside-down? I have a build table for Gunpla kits, and my current solution for video is an older gopro with a tripod mount pointing straight down, hooked up to an old mic arm. would the camera be able to move around and stay upright, or would I have to invert both the view and controls?
Seems OK for features at that price but the image quality wasn't as good as I was expecting. Maybe the lens was bad or something went wrong in the settings?
They need to have the scenes in their software integrate with OBS/Elgato so when a different scene is chosen in OBS the camera could load a different preset without having to open a second piece of software and change a scene in a second place too.
Would be nice if we could start programming these cameras to actually eliminate head space and balance the shot a little bit better. Once Jay got up and moved around, it was putting his head front and center. It seems obvious that it is really just trying to center on his eyes, which is not usually a shot that you want.
Interesting camera! Now, even for when Phil was doing the over-the-shoulder shots, was it always the 2C microphone being used for audio? If so, when demoing the voice suppression, what was the audio source for that, as it sounded a touch more tinny? I am thinking it was the laptop speakers, but I wanted to verify that. An amazing camera, and, as you said, much more affordable than it's predecessor. Appreciate any light you can shed on that, and thank you for yet another great video, Jay.
I would like to know how the sound is when i would be standing at a larger distance, so lets say 2 meters. When I teach standing in front of a backboard. Can I connect a wireless Microphone, if that would be needed?
If the 2C was $99 or $125 that would make the decision pretty tough. I don't need the gimbal, but for only $50 more it feels like I should just get it incase the need comes up. Now if only they expand the tracker to recognize cats and auto add them to the frame.
Jay, it would be awesome if you could do a video on the audio side of gaming like best speaker/dac options. There are probably quite a few people who aren't into headsets and might not be getting the best out of gaming with crappy sound bars and speakers.
It may be still 30FPS, but remember that this is a "webcam" not designed for high movement outside shooting, so 30 IS enough, but also the Camera itself lens quality, and with the HDR clarity is FAR SUPERIOR to 2010 cameras. So, while I agree 60 would be nice, as you can see from the video yourself it is NOT "low quality" whatsoever. It's VERY HIGH quality, literally no different than the "Pro" cameras they usually use. Definitely cool how you guys made this video... especially when referring to certain features of the webcam, it rotates to those specific sides to show it.... how the hell?
I would like to share with you a negative experience I had with the Nancon Asymmetrical PS4/PC controller. Gamepads come in wired and wireless varieties. The wireless ones come in two main varieties - bluetooth and 2.4ghz, similarly to mice and keyboards. The 2.4Ghz variety has a proprietary USB dongle that is most often tied to a single device, or can sometimes be paired to a similar device or another device of the same model. If you lose the dongle, you are SOOL unless the device supports a wired operation mode - something it may or may not do. That is why some people gravitate toward Bluetooth wireless devices. The bluetooth variety usually is compatible with any bluetooth receiver, be it a USB dongle, a PCI or PCIE card, or an mSATA module, or bluetooth in a phone. The main word there is USUALLY. Some models, like 1st edition XBox One controllers or PS3 controllers, do not work with any Bluetooth dongle - you need a SPECIAL Bluetooth adapter or modified drivers to run them wirelessly with a regular bluetooth. The saving grace is that these models usually offer the ability to run them in WIRED mode, as well. So, if your PS3 breaks, you can use the PS3 controller on your PC with a cable - suboptimal, but at least it works. Now, Nacon, in all of their wisdom, produces the Nacon Asymmetric controller - priced around 50-60 US dollars. Certainly not one of the premium professional controllers that go for a 100 bucks or more, but definitely not the Walmart 20 dollars brand. The controller is very clearly, unambiguously marketed as a BLUETOOTH controller. HOWEVER, it is very much of the variety that requires a proprietary dongle that comes included. As it is a proprietary dongle, if you were to lose it, break it, or it simply died for no apparent reason (LIKE MINE DID), you could still use it with a cable - IF NACON BOTHERED TO ALLOW YOU TO DO SO! But they didn't. Instead, Nacon sells the dongle separately, for the low, low price of 22 dollars - almost half of the actual controller. To be fair to Nacon - they are not the only company who does this. However, they are the only ones I know of that sell a product that is so expensive and the replacement part is so expensive as well. With a Microsoft or Hama 2.4ghz keyboard, you at least know what you are getting into - you are buying a 20 dollar product with a proprietary dongle. With Nacon, you are misled into buying a "bluetooth" device that does not work with Bluetooth nor with a cable. To make matters worse - the replacement dongle is of questionable quality, as well. The reviews are not splendid. Some people fail to reconnect the device, for some the dongle dies, for some it never arrives. It has a mixed rating of 1 stars and 5 stars, mostly 1 star.
Can it track audio? If you have a conference and are going from one speaker to the next can the camera automatically move to the new presenter if they are in a different spot?
I think it’s a great value for the right person. It’s $200 but that’s nothing compared to what people spend on camera setups. I’ll be getting this over an expensive camera for sure.
They just put a price inbetween people going 4k and people buying for 1080p, which probably means is not enough for people willing to spend and is overpriced for people that dont need 4k.
I used to like my link. Damn thing only works if I unplug and replug. Happened after an update a year or so ago. I’ve seen tons of complaints about the same, and no one has addressed it.
Hey Jay, Every video I have seen of this webcam always have some issues with the framerate of the camera, What's up with that ? Seems like the video is a little choppy. I want to buy this but that choppiness seems like a dealbreaker
Are these cameras going to impact gaming performance? He said the AI stuff needs a discreet GPU so I am assuming that it will be using resources that a game might need. Right?

My first 4k webcam. Ordered after reviews but had seconds thoughts based on some crticism.
Glad I came across this video... made the right decision.
When you manage to get RTFM back I really think you should consider a couple of these along with the main came, would add some good focused dynamics to proceedings.
Nice Video ... Cam already was on my Wishlist ...
now after that Video definitely in my Shoppingbasket.
I wonder if it can track things other than people say the print head of a 3d printer as it swings around during a print.
Put a sticker of a face on it, lol
@@ThePaalanBoy I did consider a simple picture on the tool head, but it would be awesome if it could track things other than people without tricking it especially for the cost.
*WOW.... The Link 2 is absolutely AMAZING....!*
The ONLY "flaw" seems to be it's AI processing of background "scenes".
But what features work without the software? I can't install whatever I want on a corporate laptop.
I'd love to have something like this for my classes - I try to video record my classes for those students that have to be absent - that way they can go to my TH-cam channel and still get thir notes but I am in and out of the frame because I pace - lol. THanks for the review.
Insta360's Link 2 might be okay, but it's not worth the price when OBSBOT Tiny 2 Lite gives better tracking and overall performance at a lower cost.
It does have some great features. I actually like the built in lens shield. Although AI based webcam doesn't peak my personal interest, I can see the value in the in it. Especially with how well it focuses compared to mine.
Is it just me, or do these comments seem oddly repetitive?
I love that big jay includes both lil phil and little nicky in the vids like this.
You actually have to disclaim if its on x86/x64 or, if its on one of the new snapdragon X laptops, as the picture will be drastically different.
Given the compression, i assume this is x86/x64 based.
I hoped they will release 1 inch webcam, maybe later with ULTRA version xD Use 1st version and happy with it, but I'm not found reason to upgrade.
But does it periodically call the mothership opening the possibility for it to be bricked out of nowhere when it is "no longer supported?"
It's cool but I don't think it's $200 cool for a webcam. I could see it be valuable to content creators, but for most people who need a webcam, probably not. Thanks for the content!
At that price buy a real camera. Lol
@@Splarkszter The presets are nice
This would be a great addition to bring the rtfm show back too. I really miss that part on the channel😊
Jay 👍Thanks for the good explanation of all the functions of the new Insta360 Link 2 camera
For the pre-set areas, can we adjust the orientation for each of the area?
Two of my favourite TH-camrs, Jay and Colin Furze both releasing insta360 videos in the same week. Holy Ad Campaign Batman.
3:51 is what Jays misses see's also ...30fps for this price??
Been looking for a new camera and this seems to be the best option currently.
I would like to know how the sound is when i would be standing at a larger distance, so lets say 2 meters. When I teach standing in front of a backboard. Can I connect a wireless Microphone, if that would be needed?
I've wanted the original for a while but couldn't remember the name of it, Didn't expect a 2nd version.
If the 2C was $99 or $125 that would make the decision pretty tough. I don't need the gimbal, but for only $50 more it feels like I should just get it incase the need comes up.
Now if only they expand the tracker to recognize cats and auto add them to the frame.
I bought that "old" insta360. It is so good!
Edit after video: oh it's now cheaper. I am now going to buy one more! Right now!
is this insta360 the new dyson add of 2024? every youtuber and their mom is making a video on it.
Insta360 spent marketing money.
what about two insta360 setup its possible ?
In EU is 190$ (link 2C) and 250$ (link 2), and 310 $ for the old link. Too expensive for that image quality.
Jay, it would be awesome if you could do a video on the audio side of gaming like best speaker/dac options. There are probably quite a few people who aren't into headsets and might not be getting the best out of gaming with crappy sound bars and speakers.
$150 to $200 for a webcam that is still in the era of early 2010 with that 30fps? No thanks.
So, I think it's an absolutely AMAZING camera, and you're not thinking it through.
last audio profile is the best
I love this camera but since I moved to Linux, it seems to have some issues. The software is also Win/Mac only .__.
The backgrounds are nice but can you add a custom one?
yes
Scene 2 should be a mirror mounted behind the camera to show the camera. 😂😂😂
Thanks for your attention!
Can it track audio? If you have a conference and are going from one speaker to the next can the camera automatically move to the new presenter if they are in a different spot?
Looks better than my old Logitech Brio but that isn't saying much.
Ofc 13 bots comment within 5 seconds... I see you...
😅
I think it’s a great value for the right person.
It’s $200 but that’s nothing compared to what people spend on camera setups.
I’ll be getting this over an expensive camera for sure.
I was just looking for an upgrade to my c920 thank you!
I hate that youtube compresses the video cause to me. Thru youtube the quality looks subpar.
Its important that we can see Phils beard. This is very good
They just put a price inbetween people going 4k and people buying for 1080p, which probably means is not enough for people willing to spend and is overpriced for people that dont need 4k.
Hell Yeah I want to see this in a build.
I used to like my link. Damn thing only works if I unplug and replug. Happened after an update a year or so ago. I’ve seen tons of complaints about the same, and no one has addressed it.
Presets look like it will be great for the podcast.
Does this use the cloud?
or can it be local only?
Can it connect to and/or be controlled by Home Assistant?
Hey Jay, Every video I have seen of this webcam always have some issues with the framerate of the camera, What's up with that ? Seems like the video is a little choppy. I want to buy this but that choppiness seems like a dealbreaker
So what happens on the thumbnails if Nick and Phil Switch places? Does it try and identify where phil and nick went? 😂😂😂😂
Are these cameras going to impact gaming performance? He said the AI stuff needs a discreet GPU so I am assuming that it will be using resources that a game might need. Right?
