20% of the reason I watch these is for a very informative and revealing game review and the other 80% is solely for the analogies he comes up with. God I love this channel series.
Am i the only one who has the feeling that his writing got less and less clever over the years? And that his humor got more and more juvenile? A vibe his Mankind Divided Review has given me.
Take, for example, his review of Mindjack, in my opinion the review where humor and criticism were balanced the best. It has no dick jokes, no fart humor, and the writing actually is dry and witty and clever. This dry and witty humor is something I've been missing a lot from ZP. And that's sad, because his books show that he can do a lot better.
Depends how early you go for a very very long time the reviews have been silly and I quite like it personally also this review was a little deeper than just knob gags had a psychology gag in there I think. I must admit I like his books more than his reviews though.
"Oh you meant clinging to the rock. Sorry I thought you meant clinging to a sense of purpose in life."
My whole life story in two sentences.
2:26-He really fizzled out on that line...
Ninetails2000 *with his dying breath* PASTA
PAst@
PASta
2:27 Yahtzee almost died
Is that when he say, "pasta"?
yes, yes it was
PAHstaa
Pastuhhh
PASTAAaaahcafndjsdjg
oh I thought this was Grow Home...never knew that a new game showed up.
+Tiztu
Same here. I was like "wha?" until Yahtzee helpfully provided the "it's a sequel" tidbit.
+Gunner193 I thought grow home was the sequel
The guy announcing it at E3 was the most awkward shit ever, go check it out
eh we've seen worse
Whenever it grows up, I tend to get light headed.
such a shame
When it grows up, my friends and I tend to get light headed.
Just grow home with your puns, k.
is it cool to have high rez green penii in the video?
this guy is the best video game reviewer I have ever seen, His similes are on point, his points are well illustrated by those similes and his ability to talk so long without breathing is legendary, props to Yahtzee
his reviews are to short.
Finishes watching RWBY
the feels hit
looks at the bottom right
"Grow up - Recommended for you"
So it was shite or no?
On the one hand I hate RWBY. On the other hand I like your joke. To upvote or not to upvote, that is the question... ah screw it. Upvote for you!
+mryupjup My explanation for why I think RWBY is dreadful would be extremely long and very tedious. A lot of it would require in depth explanations of certain scenes or story elements which particularly pissed me off or best typified a consistent problem I had. It would also be pointless as it would all end with the phrase "But I am glad other people like it, because people finding joy in art is a good thing even if I didn't find it." My answer could stretch for pages, but the short version is: 95% of the things.
that's a question that answers itself
mryupjup Because just being shit would imply that I could see a bit, scoff, then move on. No, I have a bizarre compulsion to keep watching each and every episode of both the main show and the Chibi series (which is less bad but only because it is less substantial) just to find new things to pick apart. New things to roll my eyes at. New things to sigh in frustration and sneer "Oh, fuck off!" at. I can't explain it but for some reason I actually hold a genuine passion for hating that show, in a way I find very cathartic. It's like a fun little mental exercise where I pick apart and study it and try to understand why I hate it when I like other content that has similar themes, settings, jokes, plot, pacing, action, imagery, characters, etc. And then I still have to storm off and pace in fury every two minutes while watching it. As I said, it's bizarre.
Yaghtzee just made both games appears a hell of a lot darker than I thought they were.
Personally, unchallenging games have a place in my life. they're never my favorite, but they're great after a long day with a podcast playing.
Great to see the JMC's small red one represented.
2:27 There i heard it! Sometimes you need to breathe!
that red dwarf ship. I love you
Good old Jupiter Mining Corp
Well, that explains the rest of his reviews and his likes. "If it's not challenging, it's not a game"
I appreciated the nod to Red Dwarf, love that show. ☺️
The last time I was this early people were still excited for no mans sky
savage
+faded alien grow up
Is the title of the game
ayyyyyyyyy
Some are propably still excited.
"Imagine what a great game it can be if they fix every single thing about it!"
Hope dies last.
I disagree hope is the second thing to die with No Man's Sky, The first thing to die is honesty...
"...medium to severe bout of Vindaloo flatulence..." xD
Nice Red Dwarf reference you got there.
0:57 Ooh, Red Dwarf. I see you there.
Fucking like just for using Red Dwarf as the spaceship!
This was one of your best! Thank you so much.
I remember watching this when this was quite older with my oldest brother. It's still good.
Grow the Fuck to Sleep, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson
That Tim from "Jam" voice at 4:54
2:25 first time i've ever heard Yahtzee audibly run out of breath
the last time i was this early, bernie sanders was still an option
I miss Bernie...
Last time I was this early I wasn't taking p up the ass for likes.
+Isaac Argesmith meaning you do it now ?
He was our only chance of moving to an awful dictatorship, you are right.
i would take a dying mule over these two candidates....oh wait that is just Hilary isn't it? wait, has a dying mule committed life imprisoning crimes? i guess that is the key distinction between the two.
Yay! First time this fellow has appeared in my sub box. And only 100 left to watch in this playlist. I'll have nothing to do this time next week :/.
So, how was it?
Yahtzee is like a profane, video game version of CGP grey
CGP Grey's style was inspired by Yahtzee.
He was the one who introduced me to Yahtzee. He mentioned in one of his videos that his favourite youtuber was yahtzee
2:26 when he runs out of breath XD
Phew, that scraping off on the passing train was...impactful.
love that he used the red dwarf
This just in. The sequel Grow Down will have capturable bases that you can either sneak into or go guns blazing.
guess he's been watching a lot of red dwarf recently
are my parents struggling? is this that Atlas?
He's british, we have like 5 shows with more than 6 episodes, one of which is the news, so it's not hard to remember them.
+HASEnoncorperated your not wrong
It's still fucking going? Man. Dat show is old. As old as my father.
+Grammar Nazi AUS your dad's only 28? So you're a kid?
Grow Home was a very chill exploration w/ elements of 'Jumping-Flash' & decent balance of physics. Not a ton of replay value, but neat title to grab on sale
I really hope that Yatzee (I think that is how you spell his name) will someday review Overcooked.
"Pastuh"
What happened there?
He ran out of breath
Yeah, easy mac isn't the only "pastuh" in the world.
Never heard of pasta bake?
James Moore I boil pasta.
Pastuh means stud in certain languages.
I like how the artist used the Red Dwarf ship.
I love yatzee's voice and tone. If he made these monologs on things other than video games I would watch them all lol
Oh! It's the Red Dwarf! I love that show!
Recommended for you: Grow Up
Thanks TH-cam.
Why is everyone making "last time I was this early.." jokes? What did I miss again?
+Karosiv
Nice ava
Nothing important. Its just a comment several Words more complex then "first" comments. More often they are attempts to try to be relevant to the video or channel the video is from. But since the formula is so often used it is right now as dry as glutenfree bread left out in orbit around the sun.Maybe in due time it will revert to the "first" form or evolve just a tiny bit...just a bit.
Eh, I liked it. It was a couple of hours of chill that had a definite enough goal that it always felt like I was making real progress toward completion. Which I was. Nothing amazing, but money well spent.
That was the best episode in such a long time holy fuuck
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn danel yawtzsee rly hit that GLO UP XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD LOLHL
BIG LULZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XDDDDDD
rlolfl ur so funydud
lol thnx dud XD
*****
sorry u no how le big lulz gets XDDD
last time i was this early the doctor put me in an incubator.
Much love from Wales :)
...and now I want to watch Red Dwarf.
I kind of enjoy that the character controlling like a heavily inebriated toddler was a plus. I mean, its hilarious, but i thought for sure it would annoy him.
There are two ways to do objective guiding and two ways to do it right.
First is by text but not like Mass Effect where you have to scramble every planet and galaxy for that one planet like looking for your insurance in a pile of all year's paperwork.
More like a puzzle or murder mystery putting the pieces together like aha the quest said he was delivering a large shipment of medicine which means it must be the transport bay for that town with a plague, but then it turns out that the shipment was ordered but didn't arrive so he tells you which city it went from and so you know which road it took and that builds an easy to follow but still intriguing guide to your objective. Unless it's like old games like Hidden & Dangerous 2 where they give you the location but fuck if you know wtf you're supposed to do on the first level and end up stuck forever back when internet didn't exist woe is me and my soldiers stuck in an empty enemy base with nothing to shoot.
Second is the typical marker like in Brutal Legend where it's a literal spotlight pointing down where you're supposed to go. It's both boring if it's straight forward and it's like my regular playthrough of gta 4 and 5 which is NOT playing the good looking and insane mayhem but staring into the flash animated mini map like Nicolae Ceaușescu like it's gonna stab me in the back and turn out to be Stalin.
Or it's the kind that shows straight but you're actually supposed to turn back, take a right away from the marker, down the road, through the village, past the chimney sweep and then through the desert on the left side but it doesn't tell you so you're stuck driving or running along the mountain wall like you're measuring the wall of china while looking for an easter egg from last year.
It's easy to fuck up but when done right it can make a large world fun as you know where to go but you don't have to console the map all the time by gluing your attention to the map and point so much it probably cured someone's add
Did you use Red Dwarf as the space ship?
omfg this shit is FUCKING awesome!!!! i laughed my ass of, subscribed aaaaaaaaand now i have to watch every one of the videos on this chanel. NICE!
Ah....Red Dwarf! Can't wait for he new series :D
The big rouge one, vindaloo farts....looks Yahtzee's up to speed with the return of Red Dwarf in a couple of weeks then
2:27 Pastah? Yatzee, are you going insane?
For Ben's "fizzled out" at pasta, it something intelligent people suffer from when rambling/ranting about something. usually, it is things that annoy the bejesus out of us, yes me I suffer from this shit too. Reason? its passion exerted verbally. however, the tone depends on what that passion has latched onto. If music, then you can go as far as to call us chirpy, happy, relaxed, it feels great. when we start talking about something we hate, like reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hate, thoughts form quicker, and for the mouth to keep up, it just kind of evolves the ability. Hard to explain. So with that passion of wanting to express yourself, you want to get it all out, mixed in excitement, their you go, 1 Dry O2 Martini No Ice and a Dash of Lime.
Great review, very valid criticism.
love ya vids mate make me laff the metro bit reminds me of the toon if you know what a mean LOL
Was that Red Dwarf as the spaceship?
Yep.
"Grow up" is the story of my life.
One of your best.
fav part of this game is definitely orbiting the planet several times in ball mode
Hugs not Drugs!
Oh Yahtzee I found a lovely Indy game to dangle in front of your face called Hyper Light Drifter. I highly recommend you take a look if you haven't already.
For a moment I got "Zero Punctuation" confused with "The Jimquisition" so I thought we were about to get shit on and told to grow up.
no pog fucker is gonna tell me to grow up
Northrop Frye? When did Yahtzee get so much reading time on his hands?
More floating stones than a keith richard's ketamine party lmaooooooo
FINALLY ! AN ENGLISH SPEAKING GUY SAID "en garde" AND NOT "en guarde" ! Sapristi, this is a relief !
Red Dwarf - nice.
Grow up? That's me!
I really hope that Yahtzee will someday review Overcooked.
Glorious review!
Yay a new video!!
Unbox released recently and seems to be kind of similar. Good game. I'd love to see Yahtzee take a shit on it.
0:55
Is... that the Red Dwarf in a Yahtzee video..?
The Keith Richards ketamin party bit was genius! Yatzee you deviant.
Is it just me, or has Benjamin been making a lot of comments about taking Ketamine, and less about alcohol?
Maybe he's found a new love?
zero punctuation, zero escape. The title already auto completes.
RED DWARF REFERENCE
Honestly probably the clearest picture I've seen of the Red Dwarf.
yo you should do we happy few next!
last time I was this early I still had (BLANK)
I recognize that ship, it’s the good ship Ref Dwarf
2k likes in 2 hours...good job
Slightly off topic in terms of the content but up is an adverb and home is a noun. Neither are prepositions - examples of which are: on, in, with etc.
Amazing.
What a fucking awesome review! You did great. This was great.
2:26 Did... did you intentionally burp at the end of pasta or did you not have enough time to do a second take?
The fucking jet wings trivialized the entire game of Grow Up, souring my experience. Grow Home is a favorite of mine however. Edit: Oh, Yahtzee says the exact same thing. Huh. Neat.
OMG this is the greatest review I'd ever seen!
4:40 -4:49 Northrop Frye
Cons: could have used less detailed willy depictions.
Pros: Northrop Frye reference! :D
Red Dwarf :-D
Is Escapist site offline for anyone else?
So I know it's completely off topic, but there's a game that I would like to see you review. It's hardly a new release, but for the next dry spell, I think Life is Strange would make a good video. There are enough head laughable head shaking aspects to shit all over, but I found the game itself to be inherently good. It's a story driven third person mystery/puzzle/multiple story line game that focuses on a time rewind mechanic. The way the story unfolded reminded me of Spec Ops: The Line, which I played and loved on your recommendation. It's very well paced, and has a way of making you hate yourself for being a selfish brat, and not seeing an answer that was glaring you in the face the whole time.
What was that pasta part lol
when i played grow home i wondered why the ship was called m.o.m. but then when i was watching science channel it said it stands for mission operations manager and i felt like i just completed a fucking long ass quest something
yo I be tryna watch vidyos on yo website and they aint playin homie wats good
In spite of the usual overly criticisms, I now actually want to play this.
So very drole Yahtzee, do keep up the good work 👏.
I'd say grow up is more fun for people who want to chill, less fun for people who want challenge and gradual progression through accomplishments
ayyy
One day, they'll let Rayman out into the light of day again
You should try hyper light drifter
