  • Michelle and Laura expand and explore Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy helping therapists gain new insights for their next EFT couples therapy session.
Michelle and Laura discuss how to gain focus at the start of EFT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy) sessions.
What is difficult about gaining focus at the start of EFT sessions?
    -self of the therapist
-couples brining in content and getting caught in the cycle right away
Laura and Michelle share tools they used to focus EFT sessions.
-cycle parts (cue, behavior, perceptions, secondary emotions, primary emotions, and unmet needs)
Action steps to use when starting your next EFT session
-review previous session notes, what parts of the cycle are still missing or less clear
Comment and share a topic you would like us to cover.
Let Go Let EFT is here to ensure therapists feel supported in their journey helping clients have more security and connection in their lives. We want to shine a light on the more complex, darker parts of the EFT learning path. letgoleteft.com/

Such a great topic for a video! As a newer EFT practitioner I often struggle with how to start the earlier sessions. I often find myself nervously thumbing through my EFT textbook looking for tips or guidance for starting but not getting much. This discussion really helped. I especially appreciated Dr. Spiller’s attention to the newer EFT therapist’s experience of these moments.

Thank you for the feedback. I am so glad to hear it was helpful especially right before a session. I totally remember being in that same position. I love how hard you are working to give the best care for your couples.
You are giving a great idea for a topic series so thank you!
