    01:07 - Before the meeting, prepare your value and accomplishment stories ahead of time.
    02:17 - Before the meeting, make sure that you are clear on what you plan to request.
    02:43 - Listen to what your boss or manager has to say.
    03:00 - Assess whether it’s the right time to move forward with your request or stop to ask for constructive criticism.
    04:49 - Articulate your value and accomplishments.
    05:29 - Make your request.
    05:50 - Ask for the next steps and their expectations of you.

      This was great, I've been looking for "maintenance business plan examples excel" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Peanlivory Singular Predominance - (do a google search ) ? It is a good one off product for discovering how to learning how to start a successful handyman business minus the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy got great results with it.

    My idea of performance reviews has always been to let the reviewer speak and respond whenever I get the chance; more intaking advice than delivering my thoughts. You present an interesting perspective Linda. For my next review, I will make sure to prepare responses.

    my last boss would underrate me for everything. now i may have had room to improve but he kept me in the "just competant" category for 2 years. i was like that's harsh. but he was a brit expat working in canada. he came from working his underlings harder and put in dues. i would only work hard within office hours which is 40h per week. he made it difficult to grow. luckily i was able to get let go and got hired by their biggest competitor for more pay and senior role. my advice is to work for someone who is a level or 2 above you not upper management. my boss was a senior manager used to waving his hand and getting work done. i only did my work.

    Just to make people aware, your year end financial compensation decisions often times occur a few months before your actual formal year end review with your manager so don’t wait too long before making your intentions clear. Atleast this is the case in banking. If salary updates/bonus occur in feb, assume in November that management is already deciding your cut of the pie

  • @tBOGGgle
    @tBOGGgle ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just a thought here but if you get a negative reciew that you are surprised about, it might be worth considering whether or not it's worth postponing your career growth timeline and goals so you can start forcing your manager to better communicate their goals for you over the next six months before meeting again with them.

  • @davida6146
    @davida6146 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just had mine... she just went over my goals I made last time... I'm pretty new to this and I feel it was just a pat on the back... I don't feel like I got anything solid.... but she is interested in seeing some of my new skills get used in some side projects which I'm starting... but after I finish those I feel I'll have more value to bring to the bargaining table

      just give a 14 day notice and move on. make sure before you go that your assigned work is complete. but chances are many companies won't let you serve the notice period. so that's why many people don't give any notice. or another approach is to give a notice by going on vacation and that you won't be returning.

    How to deal with neutral or only vague feedback is hard to deal with. I tried to ask for constructive criticism or what I need to do the reach the next level. They answered that it really depends, and that they don't really know what I can do and to ask my team mates. He said for promotions it is based on business need and opportunity. I volunteered for more responsibility and did not get a response. Nothing really negative or positive was said.

    I know this is an old video but I cannot find anything to my question at all. I re-worded it so many times. All I get is what mistakes bosses do, what to do and so on.
    My question is: Is it ok to be the only person in the company / department to get a Performance Review?

    • @asadb1990
      @asadb1990 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on the company. i just left a small company with only 10 people. 4 of those people were owners. and the rest of the upper group was the old guard. there was only 2 people who worked there less than 3 years. so the owners aren't gonna review themselves or the inner circle.
