That Big Boo fight and subsequent discovery of the Star Road was one of the coolest moments for me in gaming as a child.
at first i thought i broke it when it opened lol
@psyko It's weird hearing that, because I (somehow) always knew about the secret path to the star world, from what I remember. I was more accustomed to beating the game by using the Star World than actually beating the game by just taking all the normal exits.
Did you ever unlock Special World every level of Star World has to be completed by finding a key with the exception of one however this level does have a key and if you find it instead of completing the level through the goal posts as normal then it will lead you to the centre star of the Star World and teleport you to the Special World where the level titles are those 80's surfie terms like radical, bodacious, tubular....etc and the levels are pretty difficult I might had. Not Super Mario Bros - The Lost Levels difficult but you get the point. It's hard to find this place.
I might add* sorry. Oh and it's the level on Star World at the bottom right of the star. If you complete this level without finding the key it will just lead you in circles around Star World therefore you must find the key. Like I said every level of Star World HAS to be completed with a key except this particular level and it's meant to throw you off to make you think there is no key but there is, it's just very well hidden cause it leads to Special World.
It took me forever to find it and I stumbled upon it one day, completed the Special World and I thought I'd found everything but now I knew there was offically nothing more to find in Super Mario World. I'd completed it 100%.
I like how out of all the Koopa Kids, Ludwig had by far the most unique battle among them while the others just rehashed the same battles.
It's Nintendo.... what do you expect??

Loved this game. Arguably the best Mario game before enhanced graphics came along and had TONS of surprises including a secret new world if you completed Star World leading to alternate mode if you beat said secret world. Very creative!!

Lemmy's castle was the hardest. Especially when u can't get the mid way gate. Spent entire December of 93 trying to clear last 3 stages of Vanilla Dome.
Larry’s one too, god the dry bones and Kamek the ball n chains, so frustrating. But I agree.
I love how each boss was unique and every castle felt well thought out.

this is the one SNES game i look foward to playing one of these days. I just know it's worth the time
Many of the boss battles here showcase some great ways of using Mode 7 where the fact Mode 7 is being used was/is basically invisible to the player (as a technological feat rather than an artistic effect). And I think, outside of really obvious uses where it totally makes sense (like F-Zero and Super Mario Kart for example) this really is the best way to use such a mode. I really appreciate how Nintendo's designers showed some real restraint and class and understanding of their craft when using Mode 7 to great effect in this game. Similarly, I really wish more of the third party games on SNES had been considered as thoroughly when their creators decided to use that mode too.
I wanna believe that half of the effects here aren't even Mode 7. In fact, I think they're actually performed with the possibility of the SA-1 enhancement chip included in this game's cartridge.
mario kart might be the most impressive SNES game of all of them. The entire game was completely impossible on the SNES and just with many many tricks and an additional math chip on the cartridge it was possible

That Flipping magikoopa I hate lemmys castle with a passion. Also vanilla fortress, I feel embarrassed to admit but I got so many game overs on that fortress.
One of my all time favorite games when I was a kid. So much to do and being able to replay levels over and over was so much fun. It wasnt until 2006 or 2007 I learned that you could also replay the castles. That was something I wanted to do but never knew, but instead i would start new files and play over and over again.
Mario Bros 3 will still always be my favorite Mario game, especially for NES. This will be among my top favorite games for the SNES.
For me Mario Nes 1985, Mario 3 NES, Sario World SNES, Mario N64, Mario Sunshine, and Mario Galaxy and Wii are the best Mario games for me I will ever buy play over again!
Fun fact: Ludwig is the only koopaling to not have the similar battle as another later in the game, he's just that cool

Nostalgia at its finest with this game and though challenging back then, it was super fun and entertaining. When I finally finished it, it was a great and awesome feeling. Superb game.

@@dmcmusiclover2995 Well, you didn't NEED to and purely damaging him was merely an alternate way of dealing with things, Mario World is the first time where doing damage is required, Mario 1 and 3 were based on having Bowser kill himself accidentally.

Super Mario World is one of the best games from the 1990s and 16-bit era!!
Ludwig is one of my favorite bosses in the game because he has his own unique attack pattern instead of being a reused version of a previous boss.
Bowser was so easy to beat, disable the koopa toys, spin jump over ball bearings, stand still during fry guy attacks, bean Bowser with koopa toys three times

theoretically this is the first time i got cinematic feeling from video games other than Yoshi Island. The final boss fight with no score display, nearly no Hud adds up the intensity to it. I wonder if this is because of hud actually affects the fullscreen fighting or is it just to get rid of flickering graphics

My favorite Mario game, with my favorite boss musics!
Super Mario World is my All-Time Favorite Video Game! It was the first video game that I ever played when I was a little kid. It was also the first video game that I ever beat as well. I have so many great memories playing this game. I absolutely Love everything that is in the game. The challenge is here, the enjoyment of playing this game by yourself, or with friends and family is here. I have so much Love and Respect for this game. I enjoy playing this game even as an adult. It brings back so many great childhood memories. And I mean no offense to the other Great Mario Games that I have played over the years, but Super Mario World will always be My Favorite Video Game, and My Favorite Mario Game.

This and the Mario 64 game are the only ones I finished as a kid...and felt very proud, I always found the rest to be alot more harder specially Super Mario Bros 2
