Great idea on taking a screwdriver and bending the lip inward and hammering downward it turned out to be much easier

I found that using some of my gun cleaning brushes was very effective. Hinge sleeves are right around 45 ACP.

Mopar factory should put these on every Jeep. Life saver.
First time I tried to take the doors off took me 2 hours with a bottle jack too.
After buying and installing the TMR hinge sleeves (with cleaning the hinges and door pins) I put just a dab of fluid film and put the doors back on when it got hot again.
10 months later I took all the doors off again within a couple minutes and with ease. The TMR sleeves are a great investment.
Turning the doors at about 2 o'clock while lifting helps too.

I used the side of a 2.5 lb metal mallet with a 8" handle and punched all of mine up from the bottom. It gives the solid umfff needed to loosen the factory sleeves with the supplied punch even with rock sliders. There is more force in a 2 lb mallet than standard hammer head. Drivers door sleeves were worn the most which made them the most stubborn to loosen. Used WD40 to clean/remove grit then used dry-spray silicone before inserting the new Delrin inserts. Switched to 2 lb rubber mallet to lightly tap new sleeves in. Doors swivel much easier/fasternow. Little to no effort when lifting to remove doors now. What difference!
Note: I used your jack idea to take my doors off of the first time about a year ago and made sure to use a soft pice of pine between the jack and the bottom door flange. Once the wood made contact I went very slowly on the jack so it wouldn't warp the bottom of the door and kept an eye on the hinge for the first signs of release to stop applying anymore pressure. Worked like a charm.

I installed a set today on my JKU, once I got the doors off...they are definitely going to make door removal a lot easier. Thank you and thanks TMR !

TMR, Awesome Products, no more Gunkificationing on your door pins. A tip for others, if a bushing will not come out with the tool, use a small reamer or step drill bit from the top side. Be very gentle with it and have it just break the corrosion/bond between sleeve and hinge. Love your problem solving skills and honesty in reviews, installs, etc.

Just ordered them thank you for sharing. You've been making me pull the Wallet out quite often here lately. Just ordered the rain gear Trail cover yesterday and the Justice off-road Molle tailgate panel with the first aid kit and a few other attachments this morning. It's like keeping up with the Joneses

Was looking for delrin liners and almost got these. THEN I saw that the Kentrol brand is only $32.99 with tool for JKU. 4WP carries them. Saved me $20!

Got these last Fall, but I still have trouble each Spring getting the doors to budge. But once you do that first time each Spring, it gets easier.

Same thing for me. The original liners were falling apart so I needed these anyway, but they haven't helped. The fronts come off, but the rears get stuck. Even trying to remove the doors immediately after putting them back in, they don't want to come back out.

Thanks for your video. Looking at the hinge, I thought the top of the Metal liner was part of the hinge. No other video I watched showed what to look at! Very important for those first timers. The TMR sleeves are easy to use. Now Time to enjoy the summer- doorless

My doors hadn't been off in 2 years, and taking them off was a little tough.
I did the wiggle method to break loose and help get some internal lubricity but that didn't do the trick.
I looked around for some lubricant but all I could find was some gun oil with teflon in it. Applied it to the hinge creases and did some wiggle again, and they came off much easier.
I will have to check out the inserts you demo'd though as a long term solution

I had issues with the bottom hinges also, I just took off the hinges and put them in a vise. Put some heavy duty gloves over the jaws of the vise so I wouldn't Marr up the hinges.

You always make great videos and you had me convinced until I went to their website to order a set. $50 bucks for 8 little plastic tubes, and thats the reduced price! I'll check the site every now and again to see if they reduce them to something more affordable. But keep making these great videos.

If the hinges go in so easy with hand pressure. Do they come out as easy when you decide to take the doors off at a later date. Like next spring? Seems like it would stick with the hinges on door.

  • @AllTerrainFamily

I had read that it was Wing Deicer, but Wikipedia says you're right.. Also, the old CJ jeeps were metal on metal hinges with no lining.

I had the same tool you show in the video and none of my four sleeves would budge no matter how hard I hammered. So, had to drill each one out. And, that took about 4 minutes hole per hinge. No idea why Jeep used aluminum.

Make an erasable mark so you can line up the base when re-install, take off the hinge base ( two or three easy bolts) and do it in a vice.

CPO, love you videos! I put a set of these in on my 2017 JKUR and they are definitely worthwhile. One thing I have noticed is that i can see rust forming at the top of the hinge where i have put the delrin insert. Right from where the old hinge liners folded over at the top. Obviously its due to the paint being slightly removed I’d imagine. Did you notice this too, and if so what was your solution? I am thinking just grabbing a touch up paint pen.

Installed these today, used your videos for tips and tricks, (including jacking up the doors that were stuck). Quick question on the liners, any chance they fly out of the hinges when the doors are off and you are driving at higher speeds?

The tool included with the TMR kit is worthless. I had to turn mine down .003" to get it to fit only to discover it's definitely the wrong tool for the job! It took me 43 minutes to remove the hinge liners with the TRM tool, after it was turned down to the correct size. I had to remove the hinges from the Jeep and hold them in a vise with soft jaws to continue this job. After removing shards of aluminum, the liner, I realized why this doesn't work very well. The aluminum corroded to the point that it was galling when tapping out with the tool. For the next door, I used a 31/64 drill, and the liners came out in a few seconds, which was less than a minute total for that door. TMR should really film a proper video and write better instructions. And they should probably stop offering that tool and offer a stub drill bit instead.

I'm gonna throw the BS flag on this one. I have the Delrin liners and this is my horror story. I decided to replace my sleeves with the delrin liners. Well, the stock inserts are $h!t and I would up bending the driver door trying to replace it. 300 bux later at the body shop, I got my door fixed and the liners in. End of story. No. Last week my hinges start creaking, back to the same old $h!t today. using the jack to work the door loose. Not supposed to happen with the Delrin liners. Removed the doors with much pain and added lithium grease to the pins. No noise but they are still tight. I tried to lift off a door after all this and they are still tight. If anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong, I am all ears....

    • @Hopefaithguns
      @Hopefaithguns 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Talez From the DashCam I’ve had the same problems, even with the delrin inserts. Haveing short fenders does not help. I don’t care what anyone says... the hinges fill with fine dirt from daily use and cause the doors to stick, squeak and be a PITA to get off
