@@rc7625 it's just implied in the fable that his name is Peter because he was based on Peterkin Gay from The Coral Island and Ralph and Jack were also based on characters from The Coral Island who shared the same name as them so it only makes sense that Piggy's real name is Peter but it's not confirmed
An important part to acknowledge, is when the admiral gets done scolding the boys, he looks back at his ship or something i cant completely remember, and he realizes the kids did what the adults do, especially in war.
I really enjoy the fact that she actually acknowledges Maurice as a character in the book with an actual meaning, he is weirdly enough one of my favorites from the book because I often see myself in him, not quite a background character but not part of the main crowd either, always clinging to someone who shines in some sort of spotlight (in this case roger) because how else will you feel like you fit in anywhere it seems.
"What happened in that arena, that was humanity unfold All your education, manners, name and status; everything that you pride yourself stripped away in the blink of an eye only to reveal what you really are inside" -Dr. Gaul on the Hunger Games
Percival didn't kill Piggy, Roger, who is a sociopath, did. Percival is the young boy who can only tell his name and address all along but is Incapable to say it when the officer arrives
Why is this book so toxic though? I really appreciate your hard work on this video that helped me for exams but like the story it's self is traumatic. Like the kids go insane with fear and use power as a way to deal with it. Like how many 12 year olds do you know enjoy killing people? Not many.
I always found the forced narratives of "Liberal Democracy" vs "Authoritarianism" to be hyperbolic and in reality all together false. In a situation like this, and in general, survival is based around discipline and an anti-egalitarian "feel good" leadership structure.. The real fall was based off their superstition and childhood fears. Ralph in 99/100 cases would be the definitive leader and Jack would be heeled and either kept in check or put to use. Piggy is a weak leak but these are fine civilized European Christian boys, and although I could see teasing i see no instance in which he would he meaninglessly killed
“Fine, civilized, European boys” This sounds remarkably similar to Jack’s “The English are the best at everything!” line Is Lord Of The Flies a realistic interpretation of how this would go down? Probably not. It's not meant to be, though; it's an analysis on human nature and the “essential illness of mankind”. Also, “civilized Europeans” are just as capable and likely to behave savagely as any other demographic.
Honey remember German nazis happened. Christian boys and girls can become antichristians and wolves. 1 John and 2 John read it. Christians are the antichrist usually because Came from among us.
@Ricardo Morgan Are you kidding? In the books you can genuinely forget that they're kids sometimes, but in the movies they ramp up the fact that they're kids way up, with a lot of them crying in the third act, which, in my opinion, makes it way more brutal to watch.
Piggy’s death destroyed me, and we didn’t even get to know his actual name.
His name was Peter. he said it once.
@@torosalvajebcn Which chapter?

@annabelvanpelt1196 no Simon is Peter as in Simon Peter it's biblical
