    A beast! That diablo blade helps too and is a great addition to get started right away.

      +Bothuhead 19 It is ready to roll right out of the box.

      +Bothuhead 19 Can't go wrong with a Diablo blade. That's the first thing I do when I get a new saw is to swap the stock blade for a Diable. The stock blade might be use later on a job I know that will end up trashing the blade.

      Bothuhead 19 This Diablo blade isn't good. it's too thin, and wobbles a lot.

    Let off the trigger just before the end of the cut. The blade will cut through the rest of the wood and stop spinning if timed right.

      +Charles Camilleri Great suggestion. I will give this a try later this week.

    I've been using this saw on my jobs for about 3 years. I like the fact that it comes with a Diablo blade as that's all I use. Has anyone else experienced blade wobble upon startup? I always let the blade reach maximum RPMs before starting the cut but the wobble is annoying. I figured I had a warped blade but even a new flat blade does it. Could be because the Diablo blades are so thin or it could be something else.

      Seems to be a common issue with these thin blades.

    Between this saw and the Milwaukee 10 1/4 which one would you buy and why ?

  • @markwhite6981

    Why is the blade more up than below the seating stableizer? If it was the other way around we could trim a 6x6 in one cut

    Isn't that the same motor the use for the 7 1/4 saws. Crazy motor for a 7 1/4

    Good review. The saw not having a brake is all about technique. Let off the trigger before you finish the cut and the inertia of the blade will finish the cut, and the blade should be almost stopped when you go through. all about practice/timing. Makes it way safer, especially if you have your guard pinned. I actually don't like the diablo blades, they deflect way more because of how thin they are. I like the bigfoot brand blades and 7 1/4 marathon blades for standard skilsaws. I've been using bigfoot saws for years and I'm curious as to how this saw performs in comparison to a big foot.

    Even on 7" saws blade slip is intentional for anti kickback, right?

    Hey Brian, I've watched a few reviews and I''m looking to purchase a new 7 1/4 worm drive. I have had two worm Skilsaws and aside from brush and chord replacement they've been great!! (20 year saws). I also have numerous Bosch power tools, also top rated. In a 7 1/4 worm dive, which one is YOUR preference..... realizing they are both top rated, but you've handled both new saws,. what do you like...I'm buying two for my sons and I want to get the best... thank you. keep up the great vids

      Scott H Well, up until a month ago, Bosch owned Skilsaw, so other than color, those two saws are the same. At this time, the Bosch saw will remain the same, but who knows for how long. I believe Skilsaw has more varieties of the 7-1/4" saw at this time. Not that you can see a lot of differences. I own both in 7-1/4" at this time and I like the blue looks of the saw better than the red. :) But that makes zero difference. This info might be incorrect in later 2017.

      +susan mizell Really? This is a thin kerf blade that is of decent quality. Is it walking one way all the time? Might something else be wrong?

    Is this saw too big to cut standard 2 x 12 stringers one at a time? Should I get the 7 1/4" instead? I do like that I can cut through two stringers at the same time.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, it is very controllable and fairly light for its size.

    • @petersonfamily6223
      @petersonfamily6223 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow, thanks for the fast reply. I have read some reviews on this stating there are / can be an issue with true cuts and blade wobble. I was just about to go out and get the Skilsaw 7 1/4 (thanks for your comparison reviews) and after your replying I am questioning which one I should get.

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@petersonfamily6223 Yes, this saw uses a thin kerf blade. It will have wobble. I would buy a Makita and stay clear of skilsaw. They were purchased by a Chinese company and have went south in quality.

    No brushless model?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      WorkshopAddict So brushless can't stand up to the abuse? Interesting.

    • @DarkRaptor99
      @DarkRaptor99 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Love2boat92 Brushless motors are more like AC motors than DC. At least that the gist I got over on AVE when he delved in the the black magic on how brushless motors actually work. Plus in general brush less is more to help with run time than power. Its not to say that brushless motors can be more powerful than brushed but they do it so you get reasonable run time. The other thing is because brush less is computer controlled they use that to offer different drive modes.

    • @Lanninglongarmmowing
      @Lanninglongarmmowing 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DarkRaptor99 I love AVEs channel. Yeah brushless is for run time. That's the thing they market the most about them. Next is their power. Thanks.

    you dont need to stand there and wait like a dork at the end of the cut for the blade to stop, take it off the wood, thats what the guard is for

    Diablo blade that it comes with is way too thin while cutting larger beams with knots veers off

    • @guyjohnson3775
      @guyjohnson3775 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Might want to get a thicker blade though

    • @Skinnymoose
      @Skinnymoose 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesnt have the power to run a standard kerf blade, thats why it comes with a thin kerf. The Makita and Milwaukee 10 1/4 have the power to run standard kerf. Those saws cut much better.
