Febrile convulsions are super scary. You did the right thing calling for help! Hope Wolfy is all better and back to normal now. You did good Mama and Papa!
I grew up having convulsions. My health wasn't the best as a child. Last year I was in the emergency for palpitations. It was my first time to call 911 via Ontario Health here in Canada for myself. It's scary for parents when their children have very high fevers. Good luck, Paolo and family!
Paolo…man *hug*. As a father myself, I couldn’t hold back tears seeing the fear and emotion in your eyes. I’ve never felt as much fear as the first time I had to rush my son to the emergency room, not knowing what was wrong. When people ask me what fatherhood is like, I tell them it’s a combination of inexplicable love and fear both at the same time. The look in your face said it all.
Word up! A a parent, when this video was first posted, I knew it would be a hard watch. I put it off until I had some mental space to go through the emotional ride. Great to see the happy ending! 😊
I'm glad Wolfy is okay! Had to call the ambulance for my baby too, I was scared and felt helpless, but afterwards I was very grateful to live in a place where you get help just by dialing a number, how amazing is that.
I’m so sorry that happened to your family and I’m so glad that he’s feeling better. My daughter had two febrile seizures when she was about 1 1/2 years old and they are terrifying. So so so glad he’s okay now.
I remember my daughter having an intense febrile seizure during a night terror and it was one of the scariest moments of my motherhood. you both did so well even if you felt like you panicked.
Aw this made me cry 😭.. You both are amazing parents I cannot imagine the stress you both felt with all of that on top of no sleep.. how scary.. I am truly happy that you are all safe and was good to see Wolfie being more chipper ... please take care of yourselves and each other you both need care as well so you can keep being amazing parents .. some special caring things for yourselves and maybe a date night too... you both are amazing parents ... so strong💗💗💗
Ah, I cried when you cried, Paolo! It's such a hard thing to witness and as you're both new parents it had to be even harder.... and then to have it be the night of that big earthquake! Such terrible timing. I'm so, so glad you all got through it ok and that you're all on the mend, physically and hopefully mentally and emotionally too. So much love to your three!
Glad all is OK. I remember going through this a few times when my kids were little. Just think about it as, his immune system getting stronger. Here in the UK, we give medication, normally paracetamol, as soon as temp starts to rise
@@airinng That was insane! They are so lucky that he didn't die when he was having seizures already. I was watching it and thinking... get him to emergency for God's sake. Ah, the joys of parenthood. I remember when our first born got sick and had a fever of 105. It was scary, so I sympathize with you. I know it’s hard, but you guys are doing a great job with Wolfy. You are great parents.
I was 6 years old when I had my first seizure in my sleep. Ended up taking meds for it everyday of my life till I was 17 years old. I hope Wolfe is ok and the fevers stay away. Any seizure is scary. I really pour my heart out to you 3.
So good to hear y’all made it through the earthquake and the fever. It’s scary when they get fever cramps. As hard as it was to film, I was glad you kept us updated on it all. Remember to always put that beautiful family first. We, your fans, could always watch a regular vlog of you explaining things later. Bless y’all!!
When you teared up, I teared up. Takes me back to when my son (also first time parents) was running a fever. We had plans for dinner and didn't end up taking our son. My mother stayed with him and I just didn't feel right. Had one margarita but kept telling his dad for us to go home, that something wasn't right. Came home to our son having a seizure because of the high fever. My mother had accidentally covered him in blankets and I just remember his dad panicking. We rushed to the ER where he was semi conscious but ok. It took about 3 to 4 hours to be released, so it was just because of the high fever that spiked up so quickly. I thought we were losing him. But we were so relieved after. Scariest moment of our lives.
You made me cry. I think seeing Wolfe grow we become a bit attached to your family. And seeing the fear and vulnerability connects us all to you. Your community loves you and your family. We wish you all the best.
Thank you for sharing your family's story even though it was very traumatizing. It is such a relief to know Wolfy is back to being himself again! You and Maiko are such loving parents, I'm glad that you all are doing much better!
As someone who experienced febrile fits myself when i was young, i heard the whole process of the first few times it occured from my parents after i grew up. Both of you did great and i can totally understand the feelings of the parent when that happened, an experience thats very frightening and full of distress. Don't worry as he received necessary help in time. This condition happens only with high fever when the temperature hits about 38-40 or above. My symptoms began with whole body going weak, eyes looking upwards, skin appearing pale purple-ish (lips, nails, hands), stiff body, frothy saliva and jerking of body/limbs, sometimes clearing of bowel. Based on my condition, an episode of fits during fever above 38.5 deg Celsius usually last about 4-5 minutes, sometimes does hit more than 5 minutes to 10 minutes then it stops, and only occur once without repeated episodes in the same day. It is advised to seek for medical help if he has an episode longer than 5 minutes, having breathing problems or vomiting symptoms. As i aged, the fits slowly does not occur even during fever and completely disappear as i enter the age of 6. We always have fever reducing suppositories ready in the fridge to keep my fever in control during those days and help reduce my body temperature by dabbing with wet towels and warm water. The doctor advised to tilt the body to lay on the side to avoid biting on tongue and allow saliva to flow out, at the same time we were given rectal antiepileptic medications for the time the fit occurs. According to Chinese traditions, my parents also reduced the my daily consumption of "heaty food" so fever don't hit easily and reduce high calories food like rice during fever so that the temperature wont goes up fast. They had also tried Chinese tradition remedies to reduce body heat like Egg Rub remedy (Hong Ahn). These are just my experiences that i share in hopes that it may be useful to provide some insights, however, not all cases may apply the same. I am glad that wolfy is feeling better! You guys are doing GREAT in staying strong to help your child, i just want to say that you guys are AWESOME! Also to all the parents who had to go through similar experiences including my parents.
I was so worried the whole time. Relieved to see Wolfy's smile at the end of the video. I hope you & Maiko will get sufficient rest and I hope Wolfy will have a stronger immune system. Take care, all of you.
Watching this I can feel the anxiety and worry for your son and for you and your wife as well. I really hope you three can catch a break and get things back to normal very soon.
Here in US when my son had fever of 101 I would alternate Childrens Motrin and childrens tylenol. Like the Motrin and then Tylenol 2-3 hours later then 2-3 hours later the Motrin. Don’t let the fever go beyond 103 for too long. It can cause other issues with the seizures. Glad all is well!!!!!
We too ended up in the emergency room with our toddler due to a fever not breaking. The Dr. recommended the infant tylenol, infant ibuprofen too. He also recommend stripping our baby of clothes and luke warm baths to help lower the fever. Daycare introduced your child to many germs and these illnesses help them build their immunity system. It's scary, but you're doing great.
When I was a kid, I remember my baby brother having a convulsion. My older cousin ran outside shirtless trying to get a cab in his panic. Its a scary scary thing. Im glad baby Wolfy is better.
That’s terrifying! I didn’t know so many Japanese children had such an issue! I had never heard of it! I hope Wolfy is feeling super better and y’all have recovered some sleep and relaxation!
That's not true- it's not just them... Literally, any child can have the same issue. My son had them twice. cool them down, less clothes no blankets, and increase their iron/vitamins. i bounce between Tylenol and Motrin. it worked wonderfully. He is perfectly fine and back to 100% in a few days.
It’s very common in young kids. 2 out of 4 of our littlest (2 are new Jews of mine we asoprws) had it and the oldest who has it also had breath holding spells that always ended in a seizure. Ir was involuntary on his part and also was grown out of about a year after the febrile seizures stopped too Scary and nothing to be dismissive about BUt once we earn what they are and why they happen. That it’s not a seizure disorder or epilepsy… it gets easier with time
Also, it rarely is just 1 febrile seizure. Usually that child is prone to having them and will have them again with the next fever or one after. They are predisposed to it but so outgrow them
Hi Paolo, I am an ER nurse and deal a lot with pediatrics. Anything above 102F we get real worried about for children as anything above that for children is high risk for febrile seizures. Make sure that you are cycling acetaminophen and ibuprofen to get that fever down quickly for children within the time frame for the over the counter medicine as labelled on the box. When baby has a fever, do not cover them up in blankets or pajamas to help the fever go down. You could also put a cold towel on top of baby's head and ice packs under armpit. Armpit thermometers are okay, but the standard for pediatrics are rectal thermometers for more accurate tempature. Essentially, the 102F you get on the armpit temperature, might really be 103-104F for core temp. These are the types of things I would educate the parents of my patients with so hope these tips help. Wishing everyone a healthy and happy rest of the days to come.
Had a very similar experience with our daughter when she was 3 months and they were afraid of it possibly being meningitis. Was the most scared I’ve ever been. Great job on keeping your cool your whole family is very lucky to have each other.
I’m so glad that you guys are okay and that Wolfy is feeling better. I think it’s so cute that the first thing he wanted to do was clean once he felt better 🥰🥰
I wish I could give you all a big hug! I have 2 little boys and my oldest was constantly in and out of urgent care/emergency room after we enrolled him in daycare in the US. Little kids just get so much stuff from daycare-- RSV, Croup, ear infections, hand foot and mouth, etc.! But once you get through the first 2 years, you all will have immunity of steel!! Hang in there!!
What a scary experience! As a parent with a daughter about the same age, I really appreciate that you shared what happened. I learned a lot and will put it to use if we ever encounter something similar. Thanks again for filming thru it all, and so glad everyone got thru it. All the best, you two are awesome parents!
Wow, what a scary moment, and I totally understand as a parent of three kids, been there done that. You guys handled it very well all while an earthquake went on, just glad all is ok. Keep up the good work and the good parenting.
..a brave young man! Thankfully wolfy is all better now.. your angel is always there for you baby boy.. like your parents😇 i hope you're safe guys... sending love to your family...
Undress a child with a fever to help his body cool down. Also, keep giving acetaminophen to stay on top of the fever. Wolfie is going to have many more bugs until his immune system is stronger.
Looking how old Wolfie is, you can alternate children's tylenol and motrin to keep his fever down and reduce pain. Stop covering him with blankets it drives temperatures up.
You two did everything you could for him and that's all you can do, you both did great. I can only imagine how terrified you both must have been for him 😢 I'm glad everything worked out well though!
As a parent, I know how scared you both must have been when this happened. It's hard to have to deal with kids having these fevers and such. But both of you are being wonderful parents. I hope you both and of course Wolfy are feeling a lot better and have found some calm in all of this.
My youngest son who is 9 (his middle name is Wolf) has Febrile convulsions. I can remember the 1st time it happened and I went into complete panic mode. His 1st one was when he was 4 and 1/2 and we had to call an ambulance also. He continues to have them still but they last maybe up to 5 mins. I now know what to look out for, to help him get his temp down so he dosen't spike in temp - flushed cheeks, the whites of his eyes go cloudy, sullen and unusually quiet and complete loss in appetite. He hasn't had one in at least a year as I have him take vitamins, localised raw honey and plenty of filtered water to flush his system. Every child is different and you'll find what works for you. I also as a precaution keep a few moist flannels in a plastic bag in the freezer ( to help bring his temp down fast). You guys are doing an amazing job and are such awesome parents. Wolfie is truly blessed. Love and Light. Blessings to All
You are a awesome dad brotha! You handle the situation really well even with all the stress going on. You inspire me to be a great dad when my baby is born in a couple months🙌
Sick kiddos are super scary. As new parents you are both champions!!!! Wolfy is so adorable, to see him ill, really broke my heart. So glad you were able to get through it as a young family. God bless each of you!!!
As a father these situations really are tough. You're trying to remain calm and supportive to your wife and son while thinking solutions. Yet also feeling helpless, just continue to be tough i know its hard... Get well soon to your baby pao. Sending love to your family from a father in 🇵🇭
You guys are a real inspiration. It's scary, but you'll look back on these times with some nostalgia. He will grow up so fast all this will be a memory.
stay strong, and I believe you have overcome so many obstacles. Plus Paolo you and Maiko I have never seen both of you in any video without planning ahead that reason your videos are loved and watched by so many people. Plus even if your schedule gets changed, you know how to organise it in the shortest time.
Hugs to all - scary enough when a little one is not feeling well & to deal with an earthquake on top of it and the fears of mother nature - may you all be surrounded with love & protection
I know whenever those types of emergency alarms go off in the middle of the nite unexpectedly, my heartbeat races with palpitations for like another 15 minutes afterwards. The shrieking alarms are often worse than the actual emergency. Glad all is well now, Tokyo Z✌
I just want to bundle all three of you into a big hug! When our kids are sick, it's the scariest thing in the world. You and Maiko are a good team and this episode really showed. Glad to hear life is getting back to normal.
I was crying for the three of you❤️ That’s so scary and on top of having an earthquake?!!! I’m a grandmother now but I could still feel the terror you both were experiencing. Super parents!! You two are mastering parenting in the best possible way. But all is good now and you can put that in your parenting journal 👍👍👍
OMG! I would have been terrified! You guys did so well - special kudos to Maiko who must have been exhausted but kept so calm throughout the situation. Mums are incredible (and Dads too!).
This video helps me since I'm feeling pretty sick today. Seizures are pretty scary for anyone with a high fever or neurological disorder like epilepsy. I'm glad that Wolfy's doing okay and hopefully feels better.
Having a child with a super high fever is one of the scariest things to go thru. My son was 2 when he had a febrile seizure. His lips turned blue and he was foaming. I live in the US, so we couldn't afford an ambulance. We jumped in our car and rushed him to the city just south of us where the nearest ER was. Everything turned out ok, but his fever had spiked from 101.9 to 104.2 in less than 20 minutes. They had no idea what caused the fever. Just some unknown fever virus. It was terrifying to go thru, so I can't even imagine also dealing with having just been thru a large earthquake!! I'm glad Wolfy is ok! Oh they told me that once a child has a febrile seizure, they are more prone to having others. My son has never had one since, so don't think that's an absolute guarantee. Now I do monitor him very closely when he has fevers, and he's had a couple since then that got fairly high. But they didn't spike quickly, which is what I think set that first off.
I feel you man my son had a 104.5 fever and we took him to the er room. Driving fast to the er at 2am isn’t fun! Hope your son feels better and smart move with the juice and medicine works like a charm!
I am happy to see Wolfy doing better! I cannot imagine what you have been going through these weeks! Thank you for sharing and hugs to cutie Wolfy! I am his fan! I was crying to see Paolo almost crying, and Maiko, you are an amazing mom! We can tell you love your son! Besitos and greetings from New York! 🙏🏼🤓
Oh Paolo, when you got upset it made me so emotional. I have three kids and when they get sick it’s always super scary and having to go hospital is always an awful experience. You both did such an awesome job caring for little Wolfy. He’s so lucky to have you both. Thank goodness he’s feeling better. Thinking of you. Keep up the fantastic work xox
I remember driving my baby to the hospital. The anxiety stress and feeling of helplessness. I think all parents can relate. What really tough is all the medicine we usually take isn't available for our precious little ones.
I really admire you for being willing to show so much emotion in a video. There's still so much stigma associated with men showing their feelings, seeing a father openly express his fear is really heartwarming (I mean, terrifying that your son had to go through that but really appreciate your openness).
He's so energetic and resilient....I'm thinking about how much a minor fever keeps me flat and miserable, he's a real trooper to be at 104 and for so long.
Did they classify it as a febrile seizure, happens when a temp is too high. Glad he’s doing better. My daughter has epilepsy so I know how scary seizures can be.
I'm so glad wolfy is doing well now. U guys r awesome parents. Paolo I weeped when u cried, my son has to hv d same issues. I has to stay up nights after nights. It was like a nightmare. Bless ur baby n u guys.
Thats real parents feelings we can see here, so grateful that you share even those hard times with us all. Its absolutly realistic to see it, all the worries that go through the head with such a situation.
I also have an almost 2-year-old baby I'm raising in Japan. Luckily, she hasn't gotten that sick yet, but I could feel the parental fear that you felt from what you experienced and it made me cry. I would be in a panic, too. Your videos help me a lot while living in Japan and bring me comfort as well. Thanks always for the amazing content.
:: big hug:: It's ok to cry and let your emotions out, it's always just absolute chaos if and when your baby gets sick. I'm so glad he got better, but very sorry you all experienced that.

Thank you for the details!!
Had a very similar experience with our daughter when she was 3 months and they were afraid of it possibly being meningitis. Was the most scared I’ve ever been. Great job on keeping your cool your whole family is very lucky to have each other.
bless him and you guys!! Hope you guys were ok during the earthquake too. Sending lots of love and best wishes x
So glad Wolfy feels better. Febrile seizures are terrifying. How wonderful that he has the two of you to love him!
I’m so glad that you guys are okay and that Wolfy is feeling better. I think it’s so cute that the first thing he wanted to do was clean once he felt better
🥰🥰
God bless all of yous and I had the same thing with my kid so I took him out side to get fresh air and he cooled down big time so do that next time xx
I was like why didn’t they do that
A lot of acetaminophen is bad for kids. It can cause organ failure so I don’t think that’s a good idea
Also baths will cool his body down
@@dilaisy_loone2846 Pediatric tylenol is fine at the over-the-counter doses. Pediatricians use it all the time.
Looking how old Wolfie is, you can alternate children's tylenol and motrin to keep his fever down and reduce pain. Stop covering him with blankets it drives temperatures up.
Wolfy put the BIGGEST smile on my face when he said “Dada” !! ❤️ I’m so glad he is doing better now. I wish you ALL good health and more sleep 😭🙏🏼
You two did everything you could for him and that's all you can do, you both did great. I can only imagine how terrified you both must have been for him 😢 I'm glad everything worked out well though!
I'm so glad to hear wolfy is feeling better. that was scary
Keeping it real : - ) Thank you for sharing your journey in parenthood. You're doing great with the love you have to give. Hello from London : - ) xx
Oh poor Wolfy. Im glad taht Wolfy is now better. Wolfy has amazing parents. Please stay strong and healthy, specialy Wolfy.
As a parent, I know how scared you both must have been when this happened. It's hard to have to deal with kids having these fevers and such. But both of you are being wonderful parents. I hope you both and of course Wolfy are feeling a lot better and have found some calm in all of this.
Paolo, I could see the love & anguish in your face. It is tough being a new parent. Prayers for Wolfy to have incredible health.
Im glad he's okay,I used to have febrile seizures when i was a couple months old up to 7-8 years old and their scary.
I like how he got a little better and started cleaning! It's like he fell behind on a few chore. That was so cute! I'm glad he's feeling better.
What a night you two have had! Glad he's okay. I was impressed by how strong and stoical Maiko was. You guys are great together.
Sick kiddos are super scary. As new parents you are both champions!!!! Wolfy is so adorable, to see him ill, really broke my heart. So glad you were able to get through it as a young family. God bless each of you!!!
Cool baths to keep him comfortable.
My daughter is 24 years old now, but I remember going through something like this.
I'm sorry that you had to experience this emotional rollercoaster but am so glad that Wolfy was ok and you were ok! Thank god!
Praying that Wolfy is okay!! Parenting....we all go thru it. Hope you all can get rest! Aloha!
You two are GREAT parents!!!!!!Glad that all is well. ❤️
Bless your heart l know when your baby is sick you feel helpless lm glad he is feeling better . I will be praying for your family.
At the start of every school year, my child would come home with a cold/flu when otherwise healthy. So glad Wolfy is better and you are too!
I hope wolfy is recovering well. Hang in there guys. Best wishes ❤️
Thank you for being genuine and vulnerable with us. You two are great parents and you have a beautiful son. Glad you all are well!
What a terrifying time, I’m so glad you were able to get help and that your baby is ok! He’s so precious cleaning up by himself 😭💗
You guys are awesome parents!!! Hes lucky to be taken care of supermom and superdad
I’m glad Wolfe is better and that you guys are ok as well. Take care and take it easy.
Did they classify it as a febrile seizure, happens when a temp is too high. Glad he’s doing better. My daughter has epilepsy so I know how scary seizures can be.
So happy it all worked out. Parenting is no joke. You both are such lovely caring parents. Thank you for sharing.
I wish you all the best! And I'm happy that Wolfy feels better! 🙏🏻
I'm so glad wolfy is doing well now. U guys r awesome parents. Paolo I weeped when u cried, my son has to hv d same issues. I has to stay up nights after nights. It was like a nightmare. Bless ur baby n u guys.
Gosh that's so many stressful events in a short time. I hope you all are doing better!
Thats real parents feelings we can see here, so grateful that you share even those hard times with us all. Its absolutly realistic to see it, all the worries that go through the head with such a situation.
I am glad Wolfey is okay. I am glad his fever finally went down. And, I also felt the earthquake here in Aichi Perfecture.
aww poor Wolfy, I am glad he has awesome momma and dado. all my kids are grown now and i sure remember those scary ambulance trips to the ER.
My daughter had Roseola about his age. The fever just went down then the red spots came out (meaning it’s getting better).
I’m glad he’s okay and that it doesn’t happen again
You’ll see, you’ll start having better days now with summer approaching
:: big hug:: It's ok to cry and let your emotions out, it's always just absolute chaos if and when your baby gets sick. I'm so glad he got better, but very sorry you all experienced that.
