Although I've been riding a bike for well over 40 years your always learning and modern day traffic and the state of the roads have changed so much i find enough distractions to cope with than having "Bat out of hell" blasting in my ears as i wonder through the Yorkshire Dales.
Love this place. My wife and I are in your bike shed 2022 video sitting having breakfast outside. We were too busy eating and watching the bikes go past we didn’t see you. Gutted as would have loved to have came and said hello in person. Maybe someday our paths will cross again. We had travelled down from the North East
Bike Shed = deep pockets. I commuted into London for 30 years. Filtering is an art. I always thought of it as a waiter in the 1920's working their way across a crowded dance floor whilst holding a tray of drinks above their head. It's all down to rhythm and flow.
I use those Apple beats pro bluetooth earphones and put it on noise cancelling. Acts the same as earplugs while riding but with the added advantage of music. Absolute game changer while cruising around Bali especially on the long rides up to the Kintamani caldera. All these boyscouts in the comment section talking about "awareness" and safety. You just need your eyes to be honest, hearing other vehicles as your means of threat assessment doesn't work at most speeds.😊 I'd argue having a helmet with wide field of vision is much more important if you're considering a new helmet Freddie 🙌🏼
My friend & I both bought the top of the range cardo intercoms, and have used them on every ride together since. It’s been a game changer in terms of being able to have a conversation or even warn each other of dangers ahead. And when I’m riding solo, I can enjoy a bit of Spotify. Can’t believe you did Scotland and weren’t able to speak to your riding buddy as and when you felt like it.
Just found your channel. 56 & thinking of getting into biking having only had a scooter many years ago while living in Gibraltar. It’s also refreshing watching a TH-camr who travels so much and trying to do it on a budget. As a tight travelling Scotsman I approve. 😂😂😂 Keep up the great videos. 👍🏻
Regarding comms, myself, wife & daughter all have Sena SMH5's, We bought these 12 years ago & they continue to work. They are still available, but now regarded as entry level, they do what's required: intercom, phone & music. Simple to fit to any helmet, even the one your using Freddie.
If you're adding a Bluetooth headset to a helmet be sure to err on the side of a modern touring/sport model with modern features. You'll want it to be quiet and have good ventilation which the retro styled lids don't always manage. Plus, the simpler lines and solid colorways of a touring oriented helmet complement your sense of fashion and don't look too modern.
Bell makes a helmet that they partnered with Sena for a detachable SMH10 unit. I bought two for my girlfriend and I. The have bluetooth capability with intercom...which we don't use much. But being able to bluetooth into our phones to listen to music...or audiobooks for her...is fantastic. They were about $500 each for everything. Best feature is the unit detaches from the helmet to recharge. Sound is great if you use earplugs to block out wind noise. Highly recommended!!!!! BTW...love your videos! I'm a devoted Triumph rider on my third one...a 2023 Bonneville T120 Black. Love it! Great bike for getting around the Miami area. Not as exciting as riding in the UK but it is great to take it into the Florida Keys. Last year we visited the UK and intended to rent a bike for a month but the shop said due to the high theft they wanted us to change hotels to places that had locked garages. Couldn't change hotels at that late date so only rented the bike for a day...on which we got rained on all the way to Stonehenge. Wish we could rent a bike again for a longer period but I guess high theft is an issue there and we can't schedule our visit around hotels with locked garages.
I fitted an intercom last year after riding for over forty years. It enhanced safety when riding in a group as the leader can yell mud, gravel tractor etc. I also listen to music on long trips and I can hear voice instructions from my iPhone satnav which is very useful.
I broke down and got a Cardo just a few months ago. Originally it was just so I could hear turn by turn instructions from the GPS, but there are times I like hearing the music too. I've found there's also plenty of times I just leave the thing at home and enjoy being more present. It really is a different experience when you lose all the distractions.
My wife and I both ride and we have an intercom link. Which is a huge bonus as when riding as a pair or in a group as you have more than one set of eyes looking for hazards. I personally never listen to anything whilst riding as I don’t want the intrusion or the distraction
Nice vid Freddie, and nice to see both Monika and the fiat back. Sports bike shop in Harlow have a great range of clothing/helmets to try, and usually do an intercom discount if you by with a helmet.
I remember when the Bike Shed opened. I lived down the street at the time (you rode past my old flat in the video) and excitedly went to the opening night to find nobody else really there. You had to buy a membership to drink there and I was a bit concerned it wasn’t going to take off! However within a few weeks it had become the hub of the London bike scene, I’d go most nights after work and met some great friends I still ride with today. I’d guess that the Shed birthed the interest in biking for a lot of people so thanks to Dutch and the gang! Sidenote, that traffic reminds me why I don’t miss living in London!
Oh wow, that’s a great insight- I didn’t realise it was members only in the evenings initially. Yep London traffic is as crazy as ever (very possibly crazier!)
Hi Freddie, I've just discovered your channel absolutely love what you do 👍just watched the Yorkshire tour to devils bridge etc brilliant me and the Mrs really enjoyed it, it's some of my weekend rideouts, my wife has a triumph street twin its a great bike and I've just rebuilt a kawasaki 550 zephyr which was stood in a barn for 20years in Devon it's 33 years old it's now motd and it's great fun. Keep up the great work all the very best, John. 👍👍🤘👌
Helmet coms are great to have Freddie, I don't always listen to music depending on the situation & if I didn't want audio noise & take in something special, bit it does break up the monotonous rides sometimes and always pumps me up, I can call my wife on a good stretch of road and have a good conversation, have a Cardo Spirir with JBL speakers on all 3 of my Shoei helmets RF1200, 1400 & Hornet, cheers from the Western U.S.
I use a similar type of reader for my RT, works a treat. It's called MotoScan and costs about £50, then you have to download an app for your phone which (from memory) is about 20 to 30 quid. Very reasonable price to understand what your sensors are getting excited about and to reset fault codes once you've fixed the problem. Re helmet Bluetooth: tempting though it is, I think it's a lot safer just to concentrate on the road. As we know, it only takes a second for everything to turn to shxx on a bike. Re filtering: I rode like you when I lived in London. The only time I got caught was when I went on the near side of an elderly driver who didn't see me and knocked me off. I didn't do that again. I was reminded of it when I saw you go the near side of the truck!
Love your stuff Freddie but that filter overtake manoevre at the pedestrian crossing was insane! If I was you I would quickly edit that out that’s a 3 pointer for sure !!!
Freddie, overtaking that van on the zebra crossing was illegal and incredibly dangerous, as you had no idea if there was someone on the crossing. Also, “filtering” down the inside of the lorry isn’t a good idea, again, you have no idea if there’s a pedestrian crossing between traffic. I know it’s London and “rules” are slightly different, but remember to “ride to arrive”. 👍
Was just about to comment on that myself. Triumph would not be impressed to receive a notice of intended prosecution in the post. As a 37 year police officer the consequences can be devastating. It happened to me once overtaking a stationary bus in London when a homeless man staggered out from in front of the bus, not pretty for me or him!
I like to try and use multi functional equipment - more than one use - i use my Apple Air Pods 2 (which also back up as my ear plugs) - for my bike rides, going for walks & the gym etc - i have a flip front helmet, which have a little more "give" in them when putting over your head (so the air pods don't dislodge) - plenty of choices available - give it a go !!
I am like most in that only recently have decided to get an intercom, one that you can play music , answer the phone and talk to the passenger. Its not intrusive and still allows you to hear the other traffic, so yes I think it should enhance your ride.
Hi Freddie, I went to a big shop called Fowlers in Bristol. I asked them to let me try on the best helmets they had of every make, maybe 20 options. Shoei turned out to the best fit for my head so I then tried all they had in that brand. Bought a flip up one from them. Couple of years later Senna teamed up with shoei to provide a sound and voice system so I bought one of them on line. Fantastic, it was the shoei Neotech 2. I found out I didnt like listening to music or to be able to receive calls whilst riding. What I did like was Google maps on my phone giving me directions as I rode. Predominantly I was touring so perhaps thats why that option suited me. Either way you are right go try them all and find one to suit your needs.
Motorcycling in the Scottish Highlands listening to music - sensory overload ! Yes I sing inside my helmet but listening to music whilst riding is something I wouldn’t consider even though I know Itchy Boots does it !
The Schuberth helmets are good enough to be rebranded as BMW own and lids like the E1 and E2 for more adventure styling and C5 for road style - The flip design allows a much smaller neck aperture which will prevent a lot of wind noise. They are also prewired for comms systems so you don't have to pull the lining out to install (more importantly try and get the lining back in afterwards. They are the Metropolitan Police lid of choice. Oh yes and an internal tinted sun visorThey are brilliant and I only wish I had discovered them earlier.
Had plenty of ear plus , inter fit, Sena Cardo etc form 30 yrs of riding the best ear plugs are moulded ones and the best for comm are the moulded with speakers built in and direct cable to your intercom. Intercom used correctly great safety tool comm with other riders warnings turns etc .not going to say which comms are best safe to say have used Sena 50s for 3 years in huge rain storms throughout winter. No issues most issue are rider user error Sena has more ports options than Cardo so cover them properly do t stick your mic in your mouth vent as it gets wet
Wow the warriors are out in force today eh! Almost like they haven't realised the thousands upon thousands of miles you've done Freddie?? There's nothing wrong with a bit of background music on the bike, nobody is talking about blasting ears like some people do in the car, but for long trips, why not? It just ups the enjoyment. As far as the actual intercom side Freddie, once you've had one, you'll never want to go back, it changed my enjoyment forever. We've just done a 1000 miles in Wales, 4 of us, all using senas, aside from the obvious added safety aspects in case of issues (and slight navigational errors) the general chat and banter just had us laughing and enjoying every single moment! I could not recommended it enough, I've ridden for 35 years now, this is the most fun I've ever had since our little group of 4 got hooked up on intercoms!
I have been told off a few times, I can’t deny that😆 This is a really glowing and useful insight on intercoms- it is hard to ignore such good feedback🙌🏻
This is exactly why the public service is too big and why there's a million silly laws and rules and our lives are micromanaged. We get the society that society wants
bike shed is incredible - hope to visit one day from texas. regarding helmets, it’s all about what you want right - personally I just do short sunday rides and it’s all about the sights, sounds and the acts of driving, no interest in listening to anything but the bike. but if you’re commuting or doing long highway rides, why not?
I fitted a SENA kit to my helmet. I can chat to my mates on a ride, use the phone, listen to music it has been brilliant. The charge lasts for ages and you can fit it to any helmet.
Freddie - my view: I’m not rich but I got myself a shoei neotec 3 with the built in Sena. It might not be your style, but I have zero regrets. Podcasts on the motorbike? Nah….keep that for the car. But music? Hell yeah. Usually something with a consistent beat and not too dynamic. Mind you, I probably wouldn’t listen to music while riding in traffic, where danger can come from any angle. Best to keep your ears open.
Whatever helmet you choose, Freddie, do make sure it's homologated up to the latest standard ECE 22.06. While it's still perfectly legal to sell helmets to the old 22.05 spec, (and many retailers are offering large discounts to shift old stock), I would definitely recommend going for one that meets all the latest criteria. The old rules came in back in 2000, so go for 22.06.
Would be a bit of a trek for you in London but Fowlers Bristol is my go to, great selection of helmets, gear, intercoms, bikes and all other sorts of things. Plus theres the cafe upstairs for a quick meal.
Recently got a sena after riding for over 40 years. I like having comms with other riders on group rides, not so keen on listening to music/podcasts etc as I quite like the solitude of solo riding. Carly seem to be on a promotional push as several of my regular YTers are advertising it. Be aware its a subscription service so you need to be using it quite often to get vfm
Riding with music is great for the commute, and podcasts make boring rides bearable. I also find the speakers tone down the wind noise, which I always feel hurts my ears more than any music can. Always keep volume below 60% if possible.
I ride one of 3 bikes to commute to work and I have 2 different helmets. Both have a base on them for my Cardo Freedom 4 and have the JBL speakers installed. I need my music to make the riding more enjoyable.
Choose the best helmet you can afford then fit an aftermarket intercom. I have a Cardo linked to a Carpuride on my Triumph. Full Android Car thing and Spotify. Works a treat. And you can take calls as they come with a mike. Modern helmets have the space for these built in.
I use an x-lite helmet with Nolan intercom. I ride everyday about 40 miles to and from work so it’s a must. My trick is to wear foam earplugs and with them in it saves my hearing and sounds great
I recently got a Sedici Helmet with built in speakers. Can stream music listen to radio, take calls, and connect with other riders. Didn't know what I was missing but it's VERY nice😎🍻
@@FreddieDobbs I purchased the the cardo freecom 1 and the upgraded JBL speakers years ago. Great for listening to music and satnav directions. I've never paired with another rider as I prefer to ride solo, its never let me down. Would highly recommend that system 👌
I've got an intercom system in my helmet, music in the background on a long ride, lovely and stops me singing the one line I can half remember from some horrible song that got into my head from somewhere else for the next several hours.
Tyres ... cold still.. deflate mostly, heat, friction .. movement .. inflation... check out F1 or any motor sport procedures.. (great channel.. 👍) good to see you on The Works latest too 😀
If you have left the car fir that long mate with no trickle charging the 12v battery will not be happy charge it up and some of those codes will disappear or if you battery is past it's best change it and problems will disappear had it on my Panda power steering fail battery change cured it. Modern cars are very dependant on decent battery voltage.
@@FreddieDobbs the same happened to my alfa-romeo mito, power steering electric error, my steering wheel got supper stiff before entering Blackwall tunnel and I got an error on the dashboard, after that it happened twice, battery changed and all good, until winter came one day - 2C degrees started car, after 2 minutes same error, so far no error but very dangerous that this happened while driving, doing some research it happens at low speed. Electric steering wheel they have a sensor, there is a company that can replace the chip on it instead of buying the whole column, but this needs to be done by a mechanic... Good luck
@FreddieDobbs EVs also throw up a lot of codes if the ancillary battery running a lot of the systems gives less than ideal voltage, same with stop start systems my Jazz hardly ever has the auto stop start kick in now the battery is past it's best and being an AGM (required for stop start) battery it's twice the price you think it should be. Could be the best £60 ,you ever spend, my advice is to keep batteries above 50% charge with either a ctek traffic light monitor or a blue tooth battery monitoring device fitted easy to know your battery needs attention then.
And this music :) "Here comes the king" - I don't know if it's your job or Monica's but from time to time the montage is really a "pro-level" and makes up to even ordinary content.. Congrats
I commute every day in one of the busiest cities in the world listening to podcasts, audiobooks and music in my helmet. For years and years. People here freaking out at the concept need to calm down.
You got lucky Freddie , I swear the Pop Model of the Fiat 500 is more robust than the Lounge Models , I have the fancy one from 2013 with all the alloy wheels , AC , Electric windows Electric Mirrors , Panoramic roof , the blue and me thing etc but when i bought mine i got scammed , the dealer never told me the gearbox and clutch were bad so fixed those for £800 then the handbrake recently snapped so another £80 for a mobile mechanic to sort that out , the engines are great on the 1.2 500s which i like but the rest of my car seems to fall apart , the passenger door handle on the outside i had to glue back on lol as it came off , My next car will be a Mitsubishi again as my old 2007 Colt never went wrong in 135 thousand miles of driving and only ever needed brakes and basic servicing.
Freddie I have a full face helmet and an open face one, the open face one worn with safety glasses gives me the most riding pleasure and satisfaction as it's so light, I can breath easier and appreciate the surrounding sounds better, big helmets are claustrophobic and heavy, yes they have their place when crossing continents but in general it's the open face version for me, consider that. Oh and by the way, not too impressed with your London filtering, it's only a matter of time before it ends up in tears riding like that. Ride safe.
To be honest, I would't ride more than 5 minutes without listening to music. I find this very pleasant, especially on longer tours, and it doesn't distract me, but rather helps me stay focused. I ride with a Nolan helmet and have a relatively simple Sena system. That fits my needs.
I tried both Freddie, built in Bluetooth into the helmet and tried fitting a kit myself…I’d go for a helmet with built in 👍 ps…I’m in Taormina in Sicily just now, heading to Palermo for 3 days tomorrow, had to rewatch your Sicilian adventures 😁
Hi Freddie. Love the way you got past the delivery bike. Overtake on Zebra crossing made me wince tho! Ref the helmet.....not for me. I like to enjoy the ride without music/phone calls etc. Have fun
When it comes to helmet audio I've grown to actually enjoy the tiny earbuds more than putting an actual full system headset into my helmets. I've got these micro earbuds that can fit in my ears and work both as speakers and ear plugs to avoid hearing the wind, and they're small enough to fit my helmets over them. Installing systems into my helmets with speakers is far more expensive, and at higher speeds the sound quality doesn't really matter when I'm also hearing so much wind. Bottom line for me is the ear buds are simpler, cheaper, and actually double as ear plugs to protect the ears from wind noise
Recommend the Shoei PFS fitting for helmets. Makes an enormous difference. I would normally choose a medium, but the system got me into a small shell size. Far more secure fit and absolutely perfect comfort.
As nice as the Bike Shed is, it just really isn't the sort of place where you're likely to find the latest Bluetooth wonder lid. It's a bit more at the hipster end of things. Not a criticism of the place at all but yeah. I absolutely love that Royal Enfield flat track bike 😍
Better you than me with all that filtering in London Freddie. I certainly would not be playing music in any helmet I ever purchase either. No criticism here but but I personally would want to stay very aware of my surroundings at all time. I also like the sound of the engine while I ride. Just my view 🙂
great filtering, worthy of the best Dispatch rider. :-) one minute you're being called "not a real biker" next it's "you're a madman on that bike" All those who are criticizing obviously have never once exceeded the speed limit or anything remotely illegal. Anyhoo, quite like some of the Belstaff kit but it's way way over priced for what it is tbh.. a joy as always
Me and the Mrs got a intercom system which I now refer to as the "Nag Pack" 🤣. But, it is very helpful because you have two pairs of eyes instead of one. Very useful when approach junctions with acute angles. Tried listening to music on the move many years ago and it was a pain in the neck and if anything spoiled the riding experience.
Had a 1200gs in London for six years with 1 or two trips to the continent each year. Absolute stupidity. Biggest you can have is Tiger 9 with no panniers! Keep the Triumph do your trips on her you’ll be more comfortable, no mechanical worries, decent pannier load out etc etc.
I'm not going to comment on the riding, enough has been said already. And to be honest you've probably had enough suggestions for what helmet to buy now too - but I'm going to add mine anyway. I recently bought an HJC V10 and absolutely love it. Really comfy and it is already prepared for an intercom/speakers etc. I didn't buy the Sena specifically made for the V10, I chose to get the Sena 10c Evo so I can film with it and also use the audio from the intercom in the videos I film. Having an intercom is great and I wouldn't want to be without one now. I rarely listen to music though, unless I'm on a quiet road where I know there's likely to be no distractions. I wouldn't dream of using it in the middle of a city - too much going on for me, but hey, that's just me! 🙂
I have a schuberth c5 since a year ago and wow what a difference compared to my earlier (scorpion) helmet 🤯. Quality materials make this way more comfy, less noise and everything feels like it will last for many years to come. Yes more expensive but if you ride a lot on your bike I think it’s definitely worth the investment. Style wise not really soothing my Bonnie but well, safety and comfort are important as well. My helmet costed something like 530 euro and now im looking for an intercom system as well, one that is not tailor made for the helmet (because that would set me back another +/- 300 euro! lol) but still in good price/ quality range. Open for suggestions :)
Just bought a retro looking John Doe one helmet from urban rider. Came with two visors and can be customised to ride with goggles and a peak. Quiet, comfy and has space for internal speakers and glasses. £259. Would love to see an Africa trip. !!!
Every size has a separate shell size too. Apparently it was 3 years in design. There’s some great colours too. I think the value is remarkable for what you get. Good luck with the search Dave
Great Bike Shed tour Freddie 👌, talking about Belstaff, how do you clean your Belstaff Brooklands waxed canvas jacket , please do share if any good method or product, or a hack ..Cheers
It’s been said already but helmet comms are amazing. Just use them sensibly and you can still hear what’s around you, even with a good set of earplugs. Can be turned off with just a touch when needed. On long trips they only add to the enjoyment and actually provide a calmness that heightens, not dampens, your focus. Those being overly critical have clearly never tried it. Sucks for them.
I’ve recently bought a Nolan N120-1 helmet, modular, full face or open face, great quality and fit. But designed for their N-com system. Take a look Freddie.
When using an intercom, i would always choose a modern helmet I have a hjc v10 with a sena 30k, stylewise not ideal but its so much comfort Alternatively I‘m a fan of the arai concept x but its more pricey These modern helmets always have space for speeker (so i would install a System permanently) (Im not sure if the glamster has the Space too, but that would be the third helmet i would look into)
you can even get a gadget that puts indicator sound through cardo into helmet so you never forget to cancel it. Indimate i think its called. I have JBL speakers and enjoy tunes and jigging at the lights. You can also get directions and warnings from Waze to avoid tickets.
I *rarely* have any music on even when driving my car. I cannot understand why anyone would want to compromise their concentration when riding a motorcycle by importing a risk like unnecessary noise. There is a reason why pilots and train drivers are not allowed music/radio in their cockpit or driving cab.
I was just going to post something on this but you nailed it, I want to hear everything that’s going on around me. Why would anyone want to block off one of their senses whilst riding?
Depends on priority of senses. Note that Freddy is very visual, so sound isn’t as distracting as it would be with a highly visual person. I’m high audio, so I can’t have any sound without mega distraction.
Strikes me that Carley just gives us something else to worry about😅. As for the comms unit in the helmet comms - VERY useful if a group of you are out for a ride some nobody gets left behind. Music and podcasts? Only on a long boring ride - you won’t hear it on a motorway. Remember the whole Purpose of being on a bike is feel the great outdoors, smell the countryside, hear the birds etc. Then music is an unwelcome distraction. 😊
@@FreddieDobbsI guess it depends on your speed, fairing and helmet but on the Tracer (in my HJC rpha91 helmet) I could hear music up to about a hundred miles per hour. Cardo Packtalk with the JBL-speakers
I have 4 helmets. 1 hedon, 1 biltwell, 1 shoei and 1 schuberth. The schuberth and shoei both have comm units. I only use those on trips over 100 miles. Why? Because I typically don't want to be talking to anyone or listening to anyone but my bikes noises for shorter trips. I have a sena and a cardo on those two helmets but I do have an ultimaear on order from the UK to see if I like them better. Helmet wise the Hedon is really worth it. Buy one man. Your video reminds me I need to record a video myself of the LA shed. Lastly, if you haven't considered it yet you should become a Shed member...feel free to let Dan and the bunch know FunWithAj (current member) told you to join!

London does turn one into a bit of an animal of the road😆 I’ll remember this, thank you
Love your stuff Freddie but that filter overtake manoevre at the pedestrian crossing was insane!
Yep. Get a grip Freddie. 😂 You know better and we need your videos.
Agreed I gasped as he overtook on that zebra crossing. Very poor riding and judgement.
Thanks very much all, I’ll remember this:)
Immediately jumped out at me too. I thought, "What's he doing." Apart from that heart-stopping moment, another great video.
That shop is amazing! Great video
I am like most in that only recently have decided to get an intercom, one that you can play music , answer the phone and talk to the passenger.
Its not intrusive and still allows you to hear the other traffic, so yes I think it should enhance your ride.
Hi Freddie,
I went to a big shop called Fowlers in Bristol.
Bought my first new bike from Fowlers back in 81 when when they were on the Bristol rd
Freddie, that Red Honda is a 300cc CRF Rally - the same as the one where I got "portaloo'ed" with just 100 miles on the clock!
Losing the same bike twice is quite some feat.
You’ve made me fall in love with the Speed 400❤
Had plenty of ear plus , inter fit, Sena Cardo etc form 30 yrs of riding the best ear plugs are moulded ones and the best for comm are the moulded with speakers built in and direct cable to your intercom. Intercom used correctly great safety tool comm with other riders warnings turns etc .not going to say which comms are best safe to say have used Sena 50s for 3 years in huge rain storms throughout winter. No issues most issue are rider user error Sena has more ports options than Cardo so cover them properly do t stick your mic in your mouth vent as it gets wet
Schuberth C5 with the integrated comms excellent bit of kit.
Love the bike shed, visited last year. Real paradise for riders….good eats as well…
Wow the warriors are out in force today eh!
I could not recommended it enough, I've ridden for 35 years now, this is the most fun I've ever had since our little group of 4 got hooked up on intercoms!
old bikers love a moan
@dreamcrusher112 lol i am an old biker (ish) but I'm not moaning 😉
I have been told off a few times, I can’t deny that😆
This is a really glowing and useful insight on intercoms- it is hard to ignore such good feedback🙌🏻
Freddie - my view:
I’m not rich but I got myself a shoei neotec 3 with the built in Sena.
I have the Neotec 2 with Sena Mash and the built in system is the way to go. A quiet helmet is important but you will still need ear plugs.
@@stephenbaron5681 I’m a sound engineer and very aware of my ears. With the neotec 3 I don’t feel the need for ear plugs.
Great episode mate
Incredibly good quality of the videos, for several years!
Really appreciate it, thanks Steiner🙌🏻
Recently got a sena after riding for over 40 years. I like having comms with other riders on group rides, not so keen on listening to music/podcasts etc as I quite like the solitude of solo riding. Carly seem to be on a promotional push as several of my regular YTers are advertising it. Be aware its a subscription service so you need to be using it quite often to get vfm
I ride a royal Enfield scram because of you. Brought 3 weeks ago bloody love it
Riding with music is great for the commute, and podcasts make boring rides bearable. I also find the speakers tone down the wind noise, which I always feel hurts my ears more than any music can. Always keep volume below 60% if possible.
Well done Freddie but when you go into these places your like a wee boy on Christmas morning 😂😂keep your videos they make my day.Thank you.
It’s true😆 And thank you🙌🏻🙌🏻
great vid u and monika always a great laugh, hope to see the helmet vid next
And now Sunday can begin, its not a Sunday till I've watched Freddie. 👍🏻 always brilliant 👏
Thanks Woz, I hope you enjoy it!:)
@@FreddieDobbs I purchased the the cardo freecom 1 and the upgraded JBL speakers years ago. Great for listening to music and satnav directions. I've never paired with another rider as I prefer to ride solo, its never let me down. Would highly recommend that system 👌
Grab a cardo system Freddie! It is easy install, great sound quality, and makes riding even MORE enjoyable.
Happy Riding 🏍️
I've got an intercom system in my helmet, music in the background on a long ride, lovely and stops me singing the one line I can half remember from some horrible song that got into my head from somewhere else for the next several hours.
Tyres ... cold still.. deflate mostly, heat, friction .. movement .. inflation... check out F1 or any motor sport procedures.. (great channel.. 👍) good to see you on The Works latest too 😀
Thanks Debbie!
Nothing to listen to is one of the best things about biking for me ,each to there own
If you have left the car fir that long mate with no trickle charging the 12v battery will not be happy charge it up and some of those codes will disappear or if you battery is past it's best change it and problems will disappear had it on my Panda power steering fail battery change cured it.
Modern cars are very dependant on decent battery voltage.
Ahhhhh VERY interesting! Thank you so much for this🙌🏻
@@FreddieDobbs the same happened to my alfa-romeo mito, power steering electric error, my steering wheel got supper stiff before entering Blackwall tunnel and I got an error on the dashboard, after that it happened twice, battery changed and all good, until winter came one day - 2C degrees started car, after 2 minutes same error, so far no error but very dangerous that this happened while driving, doing some research it happens at low speed.
Shoei rf-1400 helmet coupled with Cardo packtalk edge has been a fantastic setup for me . Cheers from NYC 🤙
I haven't read a single comment that would indicate anyone is "freaking out". Just sensible debate.
all the speeds 400 i have seen have been red, black is nice but that blue have seen in dealer but not o/t/r is so so nice.
Brilliant - more of the ‘rockabilly’ music please Freddie - nothing blends better than bikes and rockabilly.
Love the BikeShed also……
Hjc helmets integrated intercom system looks really good
Freddie I have a full face helmet and an open face one, the open face one worn with safety glasses gives me the most riding pleasure and satisfaction as it's so light, I can breath easier and appreciate the surrounding sounds better, big helmets are claustrophobic and heavy, yes they have their place when crossing continents but in general it's the open face version for me, consider that.
Have fun
Thanks for sharing your helmet thoughts- this has been my normal thinking, so great to head your thoughts!
Flip front schubert with the cheapest Cardo for me. Works brilliantly for music, podcasts and audiobooks on long trips or dull rides.
Love your videos Freddie
looks pretty cool
Recommend the Shoei PFS fitting for helmets. Makes an enormous difference. I would normally choose a medium, but the system got me into a small shell size. Far more secure fit and absolutely perfect comfort.
Motorledgends guilford
@@David-jv9gk I got mine from a shop near Coventry - I think they were the first to get all the parts. They were similar to Motolegends.
:-) one minute you're being called "not a real biker" next it's "you're a madman on that bike"
All those who are criticizing obviously have never once exceeded the speed limit or anything remotely illegal.
Anyhoo, quite like some of the Belstaff kit but it's way way over priced for what it is tbh..
a joy as always
I have the Cardo packtalk edge and it’s amazing..
😆🙋🏻♀️
Very good to hear your thoughts on the music/riding combo, thanks for sharing
@@FreddieDobbs a pleasure.
You should go for it 😁 Morocco 1500 here you go!!!
Good morning everyone, excited for this one ❤
Morning Kaizen👋👋
Thanks for sharing this- really useful insight👌🏻👌🏻
Just bought a retro looking John Doe one helmet from urban rider. Came with two visors and can be customised to ride with goggles and a peak. Quiet, comfy and has space for internal speakers and glasses. £259. Would love to see an Africa trip. !!!
Funnily enough, this is the exact helmet I’m considering! Great to head your thoughts on it
Every size has a separate shell size too.
Thanks very much, checking now👌🏻
When using an intercom, i would always choose a modern helmet
I have a hjc v10 with a sena 30k, stylewise not ideal but its so much comfort
Alternatively I‘m a fan of the arai concept x but its more pricey
These modern helmets always have space for speeker (so i would install a System permanently)
(Im not sure if the glamster has the Space too, but that would be the third helmet i would look into)
you can even get a gadget that puts indicator sound through cardo into helmet so you never forget to cancel it. Indimate i think its called. I have JBL speakers and enjoy tunes and jigging at the lights. You can also get directions and warnings from Waze to avoid tickets.
Helmet City, will fit coms to any purchased lid free of charge 👍🏻
Oh I'm so envious 😂😂😂😂😂 me too Freddy 😢
😆
Hi Freddie, you got a link to that jacket well nice been looking for something like that? 👍
I would also love a link to that jacket. You reckon it's a motorcycle specific one?
So glad for ff for the ad.
There are some good videos on Bennett’s bike social channel all about the latest helmets and new specifications.
I *rarely* have any music on even when driving my car. I cannot understand why anyone would want to compromise their concentration when riding a motorcycle by importing a risk like unnecessary noise. There is a reason why pilots and train drivers are not allowed music/radio in their cockpit or driving cab.
Interesting, and good point
I was just going to post something on this but you nailed it, I want to hear everything that’s going on around me. Why would anyone want to block off one of their senses whilst riding?
Absolutly, never compromise your senses ...never
I have an old interphone intercom. Brilliant for communicating with my pal but never have radio/music streaming on as too distracting
Remember the whole
Purpose of being on a bike is feel the great outdoors, smell the countryside, hear the birds etc. Then music is an unwelcome distraction. 😊
Very good points re intercom. I did wonder if I’d be able to hear music on the motorway
@@FreddieDobbsI guess it depends on your speed, fairing and helmet but on the Tracer (in my HJC rpha91 helmet) I could hear music up to about a hundred miles per hour.
Cardo Packtalk with the JBL-speakers
I will be in the UK next year, the bike shed will be one place I can pick up a couple of souvenirs ;)
You’ll love it! Ace Cafe’s still worth a trip too👌🏻👌🏻
Would say if looking for a helmet you need a trip to Motolegends Guildford.🙂
Agreed fantastic service
Agreed. I've bought several helmets there and the fitting was professional.
Thanks Brandon🙌🏻
Do the adventure Freddie!!! Afrika is cool 🇿🇦
Ultimate Ears make some great sounding pieces of kit. Will check their intercomms out...
Finally the penny dropped😂
I never understood how you could ride all these years without music. I can’t last 5 minutes without music😂😂
Nice dribbling
