What I really like about your videos is that you're doing it like the rest of us: no lift, no heated garage, and you actually show your mistakes. Thank you so much
I have to tell you how impressed I am with this video. Great job with the lighting and camera angles, and I appreciate your thoroughness. Will be subscribing and sharing.
SIR LET ME SAY GOD BLESS U 4 EVER THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. I AM KNOCKED OFF MY FEET ABOUT HOW SIMPLE AND AWESOME YOUR WORK IS JOB WELL DONE!!!!
Did you have to remove the shift cable? If so how? It shows in your video that it was in the way when you were lowering the subframe but then just jumps to you removing it with out showing how you took of the shift cable.
I have 06 lowered accord. I slightly hit a curb and bent the front passenger side mounting point where the tow hook / mounting point is located. Only damage I noticed is that it bent the from corner downward a bit. No other damage noted. Should I be concerned ?
I have a 2008 dodge avenger and I'm getting my subframe crossmember replaced. Do you have to remove the lower ball joints for the subframe to come out?
Hi I have a 2007 Mazda 6 with a rusted k frame. There is one place where it is rusted out but it is not in a critical place. My regular mechanic passed it on inspection but next year it may have to be replaced. He told me that sometimes the bolts can be hard to get out. I don’t want to sell for parts. Any suggestions about what I should do??
My 2011 Taurus hit a train track and the subframe is shredded in a 2” by 4” area. Just a big hole. Instead of that engine bracket you used, would some blocks be just as effective?
First off loved your video, bro! Straightforward, precise, professional, and informative. I wish I had all the tools necessary to do the job. I have an almost exact situation. I bent the sub-frame on 2013 Acura TL AWD. Mechanic is qouting almost $5,000 with parts and labor. I’m going to get a second opinion. But can you tell me any X-factors I might consist or any problems/other things that might need to be replaced? Or is something like this usually fixed by just replacing the frame? I hydroplaned into a curb also. Any advice I appreciate it. Nice Acura by the way!!
Hi Jihad. Sorry to hear about the damage. What your mechanic is quoting seems to be just about right. Chances are they plan on replacing the knuckle, lower control arm, wheel bearing, tie rod and shock on the damage side; as they often bend. You may be able to save a bit going used rather than new, but that's your call. The crossmember in my case was a used unit I purchased for $450 ,including the sway bar. One thing I was certainly worried about was the steering box. Fortunately there was no damage but that is something that may come up as the mechanic dives in to the job. In the short term, my advice to you is don't drive the vehicle. I quickly go over what happened to me in this video....th-cam.com/video/ypovBqtj5Io/w-d-xo.html ….but long story short, the subframe failed while I was doing a k-turn in front of my house and I had to get tow truck to literally move the car 30 or so feet. Feel free to email me at carsntoys@gmail.com if you have any other questions. Good luck!
CarsNToys Thank you for replying. I hope I don’t have to change all that: but if it’s best to do it all at once, then that’s what I’ll do. 1 Question: the steering box, is that the same as the Power Steering Rod on a 2013 TL? Or is that a different part? Thanks again, CarsNToys
Well it looks like someone else in the world had the same problem I did this winter when I curb shot my Toyota Solara. Fast forward 8 months after I got the replacement control arms I spy with my eye that the orientation of the bushings clockwise on the back hockey puck one is not correct. Also I found it is useless to buy a shop press unless you have the correct pressing blocks and receiving cups. I like how you use a breaker bar too instead of a ratchet to break loose high torqued fasteners. I don't understand those that just want to destroy their ratchets by pressing them to take off 150 ft lb fasteners. Finally, I guess I won't complain about the tight quarters I have to work in after seeing how narrow the place you are working in.
Amazing video. How long would you say it took you to remove everything? I think you are a great editor to get this process down to 10 mins., but I am curious to know how long it would have taken to remove the subframe without all the camera magic.
Hey man, i need to lower the subframe on the same car (CL9) to fit my header from my k20. It almost fits but the subframe is in the way. I was going to beat it with a hammer but I rather drop it. Is there an easier way?
How come the sub is alu? I suppose it's a super strong alloy like t6000 or something? I see to jack a car the sub-frame is used as a safe structure: this is how I got here, wondering how "safe" it is.
I also hydroplaned into a curb. Would there be any difference between an 06 and an 07? Or have you only done this one TL ? I'd think from 04 to 08 the subframes would be identical besides the type S
How much it could cost to repair the cross members in Australia ? My car is Toyota Camry Ateva 2007. Mileage 134000 km. It’s having allignment issues. Fixed the wheel alignment.
How much does this typically cost? If I have all my parts but need to to adjust it cuz supposedly everything is loose and shifted stuff... they’re charging me 363 is that typical? Feel like I’m getting bamboozled because I’m a woman and also know nothing about cars.
I could not believe my dad's "Mechanic" did not really know anything about cars. I got a unsafe feeling and watched these videos and then took it to a repair shop. They deemed the car unsafe to even drive!!! Please follow your gut feeling. I'm a woman and was told not to pay attention to the crackling noises and sudden jerking while driving . That it was just cosmetic. YEAH RIGHT!!!!! SUBFRAME AND CONTROL ARM COMPLETELY STRIPPED, COULD NOT BE BOLTED DOWN AND I STILL DROVE IT SLOWLY BACK HOME. SCAREY!!!!
crossmember can be so expensive depending on what vehicle...where I’m at (Marietta Ga)a lot of mechanics didn’t want to do that heavy work a lot of them turned away from my car that needed a crossmember and lower arm replacement 🤷🏾♂️.eventually I found a mechanic shop to go for the work💁🏿♂️
Just watching clips of this short video, shows its a very tedious job. Im guessing, the time isnt worth the money. A good mechanic takes the job vs money grabs but like a lot of things, GOOD mechanics are scarce.

Man that sucks. Besides, the subframe you can replace motor mounts if they're in bad condition. The clutch if you have a 6MT, and the rear main seal are definitely things you'd want to replace while the subframe is out
What I really like about your videos is that you're doing it like the rest of us: no lift, no heated garage, and you actually show your mistakes. Thank you so much
Thank you, Sabroso! Truly appreciate the feedback.
@@CarsNToysthats a weak comment for someone that gave you $10. by the way ,where did you get the engine support bar? Please share link
Why do you say that? A link for the engine support bar is in the video description.
Good video. I will be doing this to my rusted Honda Accord soon. Thanks for the video.
Glad it helped

Great video! I have to do this on my 2019 C300, I wish I knew someone as professional and precise as you to work on my car.
Very informative and competent explanation. I have to replace the subframe on the wife's Nissan Note this week.
who wouldve thought id be looking for a video like this. Great job appreciate the insight!!!
You are definitely an expert in this field. Very professionally put together great communication skills too. Thanks.....this was very informative.
Thank you. Happy to help.

Excellent! Professional, informative, and very helpful. Never hit like so fast in a TH-cam video before
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback.
Hey man great video! Can you give any tips on how you took off the bolts that connect the steering rack to the subframe?
Question…I noticed on the rear mounting bolt brackets there is a third opening with no bolt , what is it for?

Well done and a very nice video.
Thank you very much!
I wish I could do this for my 370! I just need the tools! could you do this type of repair with a larger engine?
Do you know the flat rate manual in hours? TY. Great video!
Could you please make another video on how to remove and install the rear sub frame thank you!
I would like to request the same, rear subframe .

Glad to help. Yes, they can also be called Power Steering Rods. Hope your TL is up and running soon.
Great video very educational thank you!
great video i have to replace rear crossmeber on my 08 rav4 you think i going to be able to do it in my garage with my regular tools

What is called the part at 6:08? Thanks

i'd guess a days or two worth of work depending on the car, how rusty and what time you start
A very good video
So if I wanted to drop a J35 in my base model I'd need the type S sud frame? And wiring harness (s) and type S cluster?
What are the bolts called that hold up the subframe? The bolts that are right next to the lower front control arm.
Hey man, i need to lower the subframe on the same car (CL9) to fit my header from my k20. It almost fits but the subframe is in the way. I was going to beat it with a hammer but I rather drop it. Is there an easier way?
That was ah really good video . Thanks
How much would a job like this cost? Got acura tl 2008 need a new subframe same side
Local mechanic quoted $4k for used parts.
How come the sub is alu? I suppose it's a super strong alloy like t6000 or something? I see to jack a car the sub-frame is used as a safe structure: this is how I got here, wondering how "safe" it is.
What size is the bolt
I also hydroplaned into a curb. Would there be any difference between an 06 and an 07? Or have you only done this one TL ? I'd think from 04 to 08 the subframes would be identical besides the type S
04-06 auto and manual subframes are the same.
excellent video, could you tell me how I can get that tool that suspends the engine, or what is its name, thanks.
Thank you. Here you go - amzn.to/34A3EXW
Did u put a new one or did u rebuild it and what issues did ur car have before the replacement because my throttle body keeps going out
I purchased a used unit from an auto recycler / junk yard. The original crossmember cracked. (Hydroplaned into a curb.)
was side out more than other ?
Great video!! Brand and model of floor jack please?
How much it could cost to repair the cross members in Australia ? My car is Toyota Camry Ateva 2007. Mileage 134000 km. It’s having allignment issues. Fixed the wheel alignment.
Hey man great video! I’m just curious on how much do you think it’ll cost to replace a subframe at an auto shop?
It’s around 300 bucks
what is the name of tool you used in minutes 1:30?
Here you go: amzn.to/2tYjQ7p
Do you mount the motor so it didn't fall
Where can I get that engine support bar? I can’t find that one anywhere
I am having the same question, looked everywhere with no luck, I really want that one
On the rack. You just removed the 4 bolts that go to the subframe? And it's free?
I need a video on how to remove the cradle on a 06 rendezous. Can anyone help
You should do a detailed video on how to replace lower control arms.
Those r easy its the same way of replacing the wheel hub
Without a lift that job is a ball buster. A helper makes things much easier, especially going back in.
Jacks, lots and lots of jacks.
What are the signs of damaged subframe cross member?
How to replace cross member in t2008mazdatribute
Great video. Is a front crossmember considered a suspension or just a frame and structural body part?
Structural. Usually, unless the cradle is shifted after a crash which can affect suspension settings and alignment
Great job! Excellent video. Are you in business? Love for you to replace my subframe. Thanks again both videos part(1) and part(2).
How much does this typically cost? If I have all my parts but need to to adjust it cuz supposedly everything is loose and shifted stuff... they’re charging me 363 is that typical? Feel like
I’m getting bamboozled because I’m a woman and also know nothing about cars.
$363 for the crossmember is just about right.
CarsNToys ok thank you!
I want to get the Service Manual Nissan Maxima 2010

Smart guy.
Just a hint of the make/model in the title would be nice.
Great video, in addition to the front mount vacuum hose did you have to remove any hoses at the bottom of radiator?
You didn’t show how to disconnect the transmission line that’s Under the subframe
Looks like a 90’s to early 2000’s Honda Civic?
Nvm, wasn’t even paying enough Em attention lol. Something about a 2006 Acura something something something.
lmao to me to pop my ball joint out i used a pry bar and started jumping on it 😭 gonna go buy me one of those tools now 💀
Would have been nice if you said what vehicle in the thumbnail, they're not all the same
Where do you live
I thought basic tools are only wrench and hammer...
crossmember can be so expensive depending on what vehicle...where I’m at (Marietta Ga)a lot of mechanics didn’t want to do that heavy work a lot of them turned away from my car that needed a crossmember and lower arm replacement 🤷🏾♂️.eventually I found a mechanic shop to go for the work💁🏿♂️
sounds like a lot of incompetent mechanics, to be honest. its not that hard of a job

You definitely don't want your car changed this even if its a professional doing it,should be the last option
