Love the review man, very thorough and well articulated. I love Fenix but to be honest I was a little underwhelmed by the spotlight function on this light.
1000 lumen thrower isn't anything new for Fenix, I was hoping they would have stepped up thier game a bit and allocated a few more lumens to the spotlight mode.
Either way I do love the flood mode and that's why I got the LR35R light. Having said that, for those of us looking for the best light with flood and throw which light would you get?

Good review. I have the LR50R and really love this light. I agree Fenix should have upped the spotlight strength which is why I did not buy this model. If they were to come out with a new version of the LR40R with more power for the spot, I would buy it in a heart beat.

That’s a very impressive light do you think it would be suitable for a home defence torch the reason I ask is because it seems to be more a floodlight than a focus beam and I’m wondering would it be as good as a focus beam one

May I know whether the torch will become extremely hot when turn on the turbo mode? Cos this one is my shot list

When all the LEDs are on full turbo, it does get quite warm around the front. You shouldn't expect to use it on full brightness for more than a minute before it will start to down shift. But there is a lot of metal, and where you hold it doesn't warm, just on the head.

I have Lr35R and i like becouse i can put in my pocket and i still have 10,000 lumens
