      I had a vitrectomy because of retina detachment 1 month ago. Images on the operated eye still kind of distorted. Gas bubble was used & laser coagulation was used on the other eye because a tear had started. For those who had the vitrectomy, were u guys able to get your sight back prior to surgery?

    I had retina reattached and gas bubble injected. It was very interesting watching the bubble shrink. No pain.

      Same. I had my retina detachment first week of Jan and had a gas bubble injected a week later. Vision is now at 20/40. What a blessing.

    I just went to the eye Dr today, and was told I have vitreous detachment. To keep an eye out for flashing lights at my periphery, and black dots as a warning the retina is detaching. I have to go back in 6 months. I am concerned because my grandfather on my mothers side, had retinitus pigmentosa, and he eventually went blind... Fingers crossed at my 6 month checkup!! I just wanted to share my story!

    After retina surgery do you have a film over your eyes with millions of black spots and how long does it go before absorbing into the body?

    I have my surgery coming up in DEC7th... have already had 3-- cataract in both eyes- PLUS vitrectomy on the left one.. where the dteached retina is.. I'm NOT loking forward to this one. they wlll use silicon oil for mine since I can NOT hold a particular position for any length of time without severe pain in back, hips, etc.. due to an accident I was in years ago..

      HAD IT- and it's MISERABLE.. been 3 weeks and STILL hURTS-- still can't see, and been sick with it almost every day-- but then, mine WAS an old injury and had slim chance of working.. and I don't go back to him til 14th of next month.

      @@crystalgachagaming5525 If you have a healthy retina- youll be fine. My detachment is 5 years old- not suppose to be POSSIBLE to fix - but the doc is doing it!!! he Pioneered some of the stuff they use now and is kinda doing this as an experiement on me.. YOu'll be fine-- takes a few days to get over it- but you're young strong and healthy-- and it will be beautiful for you..

    I was diagnosed with a second detachment in my left eye , i have wet macular in my right eye also . I have declined the vitrectomy with buckle and silicon oil . Double vision is the enemy .

    • @dereksmith5019
      @dereksmith5019 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deanhughes3179 It would not be sight saving , with the left eye not seeing very well ,
      i'm not having a problem with my balance , and i don't have nausea all the time .
      My left eye retina tear is through the macula , the scar tissue from the laser
      has obscured the sight there . The peripheral vision from that eye compliments
      the right eye and i can do most things okay . I'm avoiding double vision because
      the brain processes both eyes .Try crossing your eyes slightly and walking .

      I wish I was that lucky, I declined the buckle in the hospital and told the nurses to not give me the buckle as I was getting the vitrectomy anyways. Was still given the buckle, now I have slight double vision, myopia, and pain
