      When you really design the xover to get a flat response and the components use are meant for xover.

    As I am new to this but am really keen on learning more about it, I would be really interested about the electronics you put inside of the speakers and to what their purpose is and how they work. Is there a video where you explain how that works and how to build something like it?

    I used that tweeter as a replacement for some vintage speakers where the tweeters had failed in multiple ways. The speaker sounds great and can get loud without being harsh. It's original midrange driver helped with that, having no break up until 8k which is much higher than what it would be crossed over at.

  • @AndrewFedyszak
    @AndrewFedyszak 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Hi, I am not a speaker builder, but I always wondered why people don't cut panels openings for drivers and terminal panel first? If you make mistake you only wasted one board instead of already glued speaker box. At least he cuts drivers openings before gluing, but then cuts terminal panel opening after gluing the back panel. Why?

    I bought the plans. I need some speakers for watching movies via projector. From almost infinite projects on the internet this one caught attention. The plans are very precise and looks like from HiFi audio magazine. Very nice concept. I cant wait to start building it and to hear it. I expect to build also subwoofer in the future. They are not entirely budget since its around 23euro plans, 200euros for speakers and crossover + 30 euro wood and another 30 euro for surface and 20 for sound dampening + terminals. Just to be aware that things changed. Im very curious if its gonna sounds better than Edifier S360DB what is very close competition.

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your support! These are great little speakers, I am sure you will enjoy listening to them. Yes, prices of components have risen in the last few years, but I think you will still end up with a better speaker than you can buy off the shelf, and be able to say that you have built them yourself 😊

    Have to admit, these sound very nice. Low end is surprisingly good. Having bought the parts for DIY "speedsters" I have my doubts now :)

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. The speedsters will be very good as it uses higher quality drivers that are much more expensive IMO. I think you will be happy with their sound in the end. More high end than budget, which is the difference in the end between the two. It's all about value for money, and I think you will get very good value from the speedsters if you pair them with good equipment.

    nice build, as always, I wonder how important the brace is though, doesn't hurt of course, but for such a small enclosure and driver with that thickness of MDF I don't think it is necessary.

    Do you prefer a U-shaped sound or an even response? The mids seem a bit cold, but I guess that is probably just the second-hand listening through a video effect.

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually prefer a slight U-shape, but this one it pretty flat. It is not that cold in reality, and sounds quite balanced. Even though I normally prefer U-shape, I tune each speaker to where I feel it sounds best. This does not always result in a U-shape response though.

      Thanks. I sometimes just use a Zoom H1, but this time I used two Behringer ECM8000 mics and an ART USB Dual Pre preamp.

    Hi @SoundBlab I'm trying to build my first speaker with same drivers you are using, The issue is my 2.1 amp has 50 watt per channel.
    I can see RMS of :
    Hi-Vi B4N - 25watt
    Peerless BC25TG15-04 - 50watt
    So it is 75watt is im not wrong? can my 50w per channel handle your hardware configuration?

      It will work fine

    i am planning to build something very similar but maybe with slightly different drivers how would i calculate the watts needed for the speakers and how would i find a good amp for them, also im planning on buying a premade crossover. how would i figure out what watts for amp and would it matter if the tweeter is different wattage to the woofer?

    • @Mizzy154
      @Mizzy154 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      also is it ok if both the tweeter and woofer are 8 ohms?

    How do you find the customs and shipping costs? I'm in Jozi.

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretty heavy. It can easily double the price of what you are ordering. I have found though that ordering from Europe is now cheaper than ordering from the US.

    Great video - i'm going to buy the plans. What crossover parts do you use and where did you get them? Is that in the plans?

    Is there a special kind of paint for this?

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I used a spray can filler undercoat, and a good quality spray can paint in the colour as desired, and then give it a clear coat of spray can paint to protect the colour. Multiple layers required with fine 320 grit light sanding in between.

      Yes, the plan is very detailed and includes the parts list for the crossover and how to build it.

      Working on one with the 5 inch HiVi for sometime in the future. Don't have plans right now to do with a 6 inch though.

    Sir only one question why you use resistor???if you use resistor to maintain tha woofer and tweeter sound output then one resistor is enough why you use two resistor

    • @SoundBlab
      @SoundBlab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is called an L-pad and consists of the two resistors. This configuration matches the impedance between the source and load.
