Everytime I watch a home movie from 2001 it reminds me of 9/11,unlike the world wars I was already alive & in school when 9/11,it got stuck in my brain & that brcane the only thing that I can associate 2001 with(I remember watching a video of the xbox launch on new york,I can't believe how new Yorkers felt comfortable being on a line outside back then.
I just bought an Xbox and I'm loving it. Wish I had one 20 years ago. I found a guy who replaces everything and restores them. My console works great and doesnt even get hot. Guy did a great job.
I was 17 when the OG Xbox came out in 2001... Man, those were some better, simpler times, I'll tell you what. There was none of this pay-to-win bs, no overly long download wait times, and sure as hell no loot box nonsense. It was just me and the boys, a pizza from Domino's and games like Halo 1 and the OG Star Wars Battlefront after a crappy movie from Blockbuster. Damn, those were the days and I miss the fug outta them.
wasn't born until January 28th 2003 but I so far have a NES,Super Nintendo,N64,Dreamcast,Original xbox, 3 xbox 360's, ps3,ps4, 2 nintendo Ds's, 2 Sony Psps and a playstation 2 a Xbox series x and a wii to play my gamecube and Wii games!! I bought mine on that very day too. Went and picked it up at Target as soon as they opened. Bought it along with Halo, NFL Fever 2002, an extra controller, DVD remote, and memory card. I wish I would've known you didn't need the memory card, because by the time I did I had already opened it and was stuck with it. The only thing it was ever used for was to differentiate player 1's controller from player 2's controller. Got all of that on launch day for about $550. Lot of bang for your buck compared to nowadays.
Fun fact I was born when the original XBOX and GameCube came out (November 14) I remember my mom was telling me that my aunt wanted both consoles in a sears Christmas catalog (it was for her boyfriend at the time) My mom just wanted to go see Harry Potter and the scorchers stone (which came out a day after the original XBOX’S launch!) And I also remember one time when my mom was telling me that when my mom and dad brought me out of the hospital it was snowing! And I’ve always wanted that dream of getting a console at launch with the cold foggy weather (and I did with the PS5) And I’ll do it again with the new Nintendo console (sometime 2025!)
This is gold. How genuinely happy you were. Simple times, some of the best times. Did you ever get around to uploading any of those 90’s videos you had recorded?
@@mattmiller555 Good eye! That’s actually a bandaid from my karate days-back when I was breaking wood and all sorts of materials I probably shouldn’t have been attempting. I really miss those karate days in NY. Funny enough, a new karate school just opened up on my block here in LA. Maybe it’s time to jump back in... 🤔
I bought my original Xbox 4 years ago and I still have it and it still works! And I couldn't be happier. Have always wanted it and now I got it!
Thank you for recording and sharing. Miss the good old days of games

Microscoft was crazy for launching the Xbox 360 on 2005, that made their first console real short lived hard.
