Just ordered one yesterday and was skeptical about purchasing it until i stumbled upon your honest comprehensive review! really helpful and reassuring. I'm a beginner, so i feel like this is the perfect acoustic for its price. Thanks!!

I bought one almost two months ago, love it. No cosmetic problems, stays in tune great. These do sound realy good.

Same! It doesn’t like going into different tunings without breaking a string pretty quickly for me but I couldn’t be upset for the little I paid for how nice it sounds. It will live in standard tuning and live a good guitar played life

One thing to consider regarding the "candy cane" wood grain on the neck, would be how stable the neck will be over time from the constant tension of the strings. The combined string pull on an acoustic is a factor in possible warping or twisting of the neck over time. As much as I appreciate interesting grain in most things made from solid wood, in fact I selected for it in much of the furniture that I built over the years, I tend to look for instruments with the straightest grain possible in the neck to avoid having a problem with this. Having been a professional cabinet and furniture maker, I am well aware of how wood moves as it ages and further dries after leaving the kiln. I have seen many older guitars with warped or twisted necks that became wall hangers.
All of them had grain in the neck that was "interesting" to look at, but was also obviously unstable. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth. Your mileage may vary.

I got this same guitar (but the spruce version) for a "beater" guitar that I could take camping since there is no way in hell I'm taking my Taylor 814ce. It sounds decent and is well made. It doesn't sound as good as my Taylor but what do you want for $135? My first one came cracked in shipping and Orangewood replaced it within a week. This would be a good beginner guitar.

Don't think the fretboard is dry, sounds like rough frets common in economy guitars. A little polishing or 0000 steal wool should take care of that, in 42 yrs of playing I've never heard fretboard make noise. ✌️

    • @ClearAdventure
      @ClearAdventure ปีที่แล้ว +1

I was going to say the same thing, if your string is touching the fretboard, you are pushing 20X too hard, lol. Never seen it in 40 years + myself.

Extremely nice guitar for that price and with a cutaway, too! Epiphone might get worried. As far as electronics, a nice Fishman soundhole pickup would do nicely.

i would be interested in seeing a video similar to this except for an electro-accoustic guitar. I am interested in buying one but my budget is pretty low.

I'm still so out-of-my-element on acoustics, but here's my 2 cents...
For affordable acoustic-electrics, my preference for electronics would have to be Fishman.
With that in mind, I briefly considered ordering an Orangewood Morgan Live for review after getting this guitar. The improvements would be a solid top vs. layered, and it's an acoustic-electric using Fishman. Although it is also affordable, I decided not to order it after devising another financial goal altogether.
Also just some more general advice: mahogany tops will give you arguably less volume output in exchange for richer lows and warmer tone altogether. A lot of models suffer from becoming too mellow with mahogany construction, but this guitar didn't in my experience. On the other hand, spruce tops will tend to give you a greater volume output and project more mid to high frequencies which could be better for live performance. But the differences would obviously be minimized when you are talking about amplifying it anyway, and it really would come down to what other instruments or voices you are trying to mix with, as well as personal preference.
Hope that's helpful! As I don't really have any acoustic-electric reviews on the horizon.

I bought the Orangewood Mahogany Live. It has a Mahogany hardtop and mahogany lamination on the back and sides. It also has a plugin to hook to an amp. After a month the low e string has a bit of a buzz to it. I am going to adjust the truss rod. I paid 250 dollars and it compares favorably to a much more expensive guitar.

I just got one of these too as a kick around guitar and I'm also pleased. Just had to adjust the neck on mine a little. These have extra light strings right? It plays super easy.

    • @jakepoolmusic7061

I wish these were around when I used to go camping a lot a few years ago. Much better sound than what I used to use at this price point to kick around!
As for the strings, I thought they were medium-light... Although as a mainly electric player they still feel huge to me!

I personally don't like the buzz of the strings. At first, I was seriously considering it, but I'd rather pay 100$ more and get a guitar that sounds cleaner so that the only bad sound I will hear will be from my own mistakes. :)

The majority of TH-camrs get this guitar for free or get reimbursed in full from the company via Paypal.. It's hard to get a free guitar like that, as it would be difficult to give a non-biased review.
