Is it no pickguard or a clear one? I remember trying out a Larrivee at Anderton's and the description said that there was a rectangular defect in the finish (or something like that) near the soundhole. Turned out it was the clear plastic pickguard!

I have that same guitar. I bought it about 2 years ago and I was blown away by the feel and sound from it. Love the fact that they don’t have a pickguard but Orangewood puts one in the gig bag just in case you want it on. Orangewood is a small company that deserves a boatload of attention and praise. This is my couch/ travel/ fire guitar and it has yet to disappoint me in any way. It’s a no brained purchase.

Orangewood user here! I purchased a Morgan Spruce Live (solid top, cutaway) about a year ago. The first guitar they sent me was a bit of problem. The mahogany layers ran all different directions, and after a few weeks I needed another set up. My luthier said the neck was a mess and he couldn't do anything with it, so I contacted Orangewood. They paid for all the shipping both ways and sent me a replacement that was PERFECT (even the neck joint, Jeremy!) I bought it as my second guitar to leave at my cabin/campfire, and it's always played well. My ONLY comments after a year are these: the tuners can get a little stiff, but I've found a little nut sauce helps a lot. Also, the satin finish is starting to shine where my arm rubs against it (yes, I wipe it down after every use), haven't figured out yet if I want to mess with it or not. Playability has always been perfect! The sound is not as rich and full as my solid wood Washburn, but hey, for $200 it's been well worth it, and I still get compliments on it.
Like Jeremy said, if you are a beginner/intermediate or looking for that campfire guitar, Orangewood is a great value.
Jeremy, ask them for a solid wood model you can review!

I just got the "Live" version of this very guitar. I have to say I'm floored by the quality, tone, ergonomics and aesthetics of the Oliver Mahogany Live. At $265, I was just looking for a relatively inexpensive, comfortable yet quality guitar to just whip out when i felt the urge. I couldn't have imagined this guitar at that price point. It sounds beautiful, rings with good sustain and great tonal balance. Yes, please.

I love my Ava (all solid wood) Mahogany. I didn't get the live version and instead opted to have my local shop (Parkway Music) install a K&K with the volume control in the sound hole. It's very easy to play and was delivered with an incredible set-up/action. I also have the parlor (Florence), which I keep in my office. My brother owns the Sage and the Oliver and enjoys them both. For the money you can't go wrong. No, they aren't an upper-end Martin, Taylor, Gibson, Guild, etc., but Orangewood definitely punches well above its weight class.

If I've got any complaints it would be the tuners. On my Morgan (2020), the holes for the tuner posts are larger than they needed to be, and they will rattle when you don't have string under tension. BTW: I figured that the tuner ratio is 16:1.

I am a busker and lounge performer. I have an Oliver Mahogany and I use it in all my shows. No issues. It plays better than my $1000.00+ dollar Martin. I don't have to worry about it so much. It is well-built and sounds fantastic, even with a soundhole pickup (magnetic). I do a lot of fingerstyle playing and the Oliver loves fingerstyle and bare fingers. It's like it was built especially for that style. It really doesn't like picks, but it will tolerate them if you insist, but you lose some of the beautiful warmth and character of the guitar. I'll be buying more of Orangewood models soon. I think the next one I will get is the Nylon string, Cedar Mason.

Thank you, I highly appreciate your comment! 🙂👍
I have been considering this guitar based on a suggestion from a friend as I have an Alvarez MF60CEOM (spruce/mahogany, all-solid), but I have been wanting a mahogany top guitar as a second guitar. I have been considering the Alvarez AP66, this guitar, and a few others, even with the thought to potentially get a Martin 000-15M on no-interest payments, if need be, but seeing your comment about your Martin guitar, the fact you can gig with it, AND, the big one for me, for most songs I play, I use my bare thumb/fingers for strumming and picking (I like to play relaxing, softer music with harmonies and such) and reading your comment about that exact style of playing, YES! 😀
So, thank you for the time you took to post your comment with your opinion and experience as it was SPOT ON with what I was looking for, thank you, Gigmaster! ☺️👍

Took a gamble and ordered the orange wood Brooklyn … was already looking at ordering another model if this one went well but when I received my Brooklyn, the neck and headstock were twisted and the nut was sanded to fit the twist. Bizarre. Not sure how this passed inspection or the “professional” setup… needless to say I sent it back. No more orange wood for me. The response I got was, “but does it affect playability?” Lol

I am looking at the Orangewood Echo 12 and haven't found enough video to sway me yet, I am somewhat reluctant to buy online as every piece that I have, or have purchased ,was in person, usually with many comparisons with similar models. What's unique about Orangewood is trying to find a negative review. It is difficult, only because there are just so many positive ones, that being said , I would really like to hear your opinion on the Echo 12, Mahalo...

It’s always in my gig bag with me. It’s at every party and camp fire. It’s my girl. I’ve had it for a year and a half now and all I can say is I’m so glad I found this company. Beautiful guitar, beautiful company.

I've been looking for a guitar for a long while now and deciding has been horrible. Seems like I keep coming back to Orangewood after looking at other guitars.
-I looked at the Yamaha FG800 but the body felt too large, I did not like how it felt while playing it and read that the saddle and nut were plastic with not gig bag. Those are additional cost to get to the price.
-I also looked at the Luna Henna Paradise which I loved the body size and sound but for the price of $265, the saddle and nut is plastic, no gig bag, and sound is not as resonating as the solid top. I like that it's less susceptible to humidity due to being all laminate but getting a gig bag and possibly changing the saddle and nut to bone are additional cost to the price. But I cant ignore the sound and feel since I cant try an Orangewood at any store to compare sound and feel.
Seem like Orangewood is a great start for the price with all the additional bone saddle and nut, nice padded gig bag and a solid top. Nothing to add but maybe a change of strings. Thanks for the review. Having the Oliver Spruce side by side to compare the sounds would have been great.

Maybe not the answer you are looking for but the Oliver's are amazing. I would say and have compared them to $600 guitars. In my opinion they either compete with or exceed that price point. Now because of black Friday orangewood forced me to buy another guitar at gunpoint....I am very very poor but decided to just go ahead and get the Brooklyn...ive never been happier...the Brooklyn to me sounds and plays better than the Taylor 310 I lost. So basically I am now confident in buying the next one....my new target is the ava live

I am sure it can be fixed with a good setup, and at that price point, it shouldn't be expected to be set up properly.
The tone is nice for being under $200, but it definitely sounds like a guitar in that price range for sure.
The finish is nice, and the build looks good, too. It's definitely better than most brands at that price range.
I would love to see what they offer in the higher priced models.
