  • Yeah butter knives! That being said, if you can get your hands on a set of tire changing levers do so, they lessen the chance you'll pop the tube more.

    You are correct it is very important. On this particular wheel we re-used the original rim strip - it's still there just not super obvious since the spokes had made an impression in it.

    I put a tire on my tomos and it was bumpy it had a offset hump in the tire and I did not put too much air what could the problem be?

  • @TravisTutorial

    Ooooh a Flandria, I've only heard of those never seen one lol. The other tires I've changed the strips on were in better shape, if this tube ever pops I'll replace the strip - honestly I've just used regular black electrical tape as a makeshift rim strip. I would have mentioned it in the video but I know people would have flamed it pretty hard.

    Neat! Bummer about trying to find the spokes though, you could try the Moped Army buy/sell forum or try sending a personal email to one of the parts suppliers.
    I suppose it would depend on the amount of rust. If you're able to clean it up with a wirebrush then it hopefully isn't too bad, I have yet to have a tube bought from Treats pop on me, run on all kinds of rusty rims, the brand name is Kings Tire.

    I replaced the tires on my peugeot 103 and the tires wont sit properly and when they spin it looks like they are out of round. I tried deflating the tire and manually worked the tire to sit properly on the bead and inflated it but i am still having the same problem.
    Does anyone know if i am doing something wrong? Or is there a trick on how to do it.
    Thank you

    on the front tire of a much maxi, do you have to have the fork enter that slot on the hub of the wheel> or does it matter

    • @TravisTutorial
      @TravisTutorial  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joseph Sylvester Yep, the square on the forks goes into the brake plate or else your brakes will spin around and around (well, just once really until the cable bunches up).

      Depends on how much clearance you'll have in your swingarm or front fender

    Good tutorial for moped tyres :-)
    The only thing i do is check the gap between the line and rim all around and on both sides to make sure the tyre is balanced on the rim before first use. :-)
    Sometimes over inflating for a few seconds can help center things, but dont forget to let the air out to the correct pressure afterwards :-)
    or bouncing the tyre to seat it.
    Good one Travis for the neubies :-)

      I am having a problem with the rear tire on my peugeot 103 and the problem is that is not sitting properly on the wheel and when it spins it looks like the wheel /tire is out of round. Any ideas as what the problem could be?
      I tried deflating it again and reinflating and bouncing the tire to make it sit properly but no luck.
      Thank you.

    The tip you give of dont take big bites is how I never pinched even my first time trying this I would just always make sure your rim tape is at good integrity.

    A few tips to add to this video...
    -Slightly inflate the inner tube before inserting it into the tire.
    -Use soapy water between the tube/tire and rim/tire.
    -Wear safety glasses. If your tool goes flying then watch out!

    • @SDsailor7
      @SDsailor7 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What does inflating the inner tube a little do? Wont it make it more difficult to install the tire?
      Thank you

    • @Lusion67
      @Lusion67 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SDsailor7 it makes it easier to re install the tube

    • @livens100

      Something I always do too: Put some corn starch in the tire before the tube. It lets the tube move around freely inside which helps prevent pinching the tube.
