    I bought that during All-Star Weekend in 2000--I was a kid and the All-Star game was in my hometown of Oakland that year. In the tent that game looked like the coolest thing in the world, and it was pretty cool playing it on my eMachines desktop when I got home too.

    Man I'm glad to see you appreciate these older games that are long forgotten, we get them in our store from time to time and I have to put a couple bucks on them and find a spot on the shelf for them. Every once in awhile somebody comes in and picks a few up, I agree with you on the older sports games too, the Golf and Baseball ones were pretty amazing just because the amount of statistics, etc. they could keep track of even back then was pretty mind blowing. The books with them are always huge too, even on things like the Genesis.

    Back in the early 90s when i was a 24/7 gamer me and my older bro had hundreds of them between us, sadly a lot of them got sold off, I've started collecting them again what will building a retro pc like i had back in the day, yea sure you can download 1000s through torrents with doxbox packages but there is nothing like owning the real game...a physical copy and the smell of the 90s as you flick through the manuals, good days.

The waves and waves of nostalgia I got from just going through what I saved...indescribable. I can remember buying and specifically playing nearly each one of the games.

      I got Atomic Age on the coverdisk of a UK magazine way back, never seen any mention of it online or elseware until I saw it in LGR`S collection. Maybe I should upload it somewhere if its rare and of interest to anyone.

    DUDE , DUUUUUDE, I just came across this channel and this was like returning to my childhood years. I used to have quite a lot of these lovely big box game, when I get some , usually one or two on christmas I used to carry them with me over everywhere and reading through manuals and what was on the game boxes and so on, because I couldnt play them yet, as I did not have a PC that could run them. I shed multiple nostalgic tears when watching this video, thank you very much. I wish I could see this Wonderful collection in person. You have no idea how incredibly lucky you are that you can have these on your shelves
    I also wanted to see all of the games indivdually browsed from back to front at least, would be cool

    So, if you remember some time ago when I asked about a certain game that I can't find anymore in one of your videos? I said something about 2 letter W's on a CD? Well, in the game, it also had it on some walls too. The game is called, "The Day The World Broke". Now I just gotta find a CD and play it! No seriously, this Collection Room Tour unintentionally helped me find the game I was trying to find all these years. Thanks for the tour!

    What was one of the hardest boxed games to get?

    • @LGR
      @LGR  7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Possibly the most elusive/valuable is Space Taxi. I got extremely lucky and found it while thrifting once in Illinois, so you might say it wasn't exactly "hard" to get in that case.
      One I've probably spent a silly amount of time looking for was Vinyl Goddess From Mars, and even then I still haven't seen an American release and I only found one in Germany!

    "Leading into the Barbie game collection...." "...You gotta have one of those"
    Hey, man. Say what you will, but I had a lot of fun playing Barbie Detective with my younger sister. It was her first P&C style game, and kind of a hidden gem among the Barbie games, to be honest. You explored this massive theme park hunting down some criminal and doing puzzles, mini games, and some sort of hidden object thing. It really reminded me of Scooby Doo on the Genesis - minus the fantastic art and Lucas Arts style command system.
    Really interestingly, it had some very smooth text to voice playback for player names. Not sure if they had recordings for as many names as they could stuff on the CD, or had some sort of speech generator, but it surprised the hell out of me when we were entering her, and a lady friend of mine's name as our character.

  • @yorgle11
    @yorgle11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember seeing that "Links 386" box prominently displayed in stores a lot back in those days. It seemed like such a classy game for people with the latest and fanciest computers.
    There's a handful of other game boxes that also stand out to me as icons of retail, like Daggerfall and Test Drive 3, for whatever reason, even though they aren't games I owned back then.
    Back like 15 years ago I threw out a bunch of my old PC game boxes, because I arbitrarily decided that everything I kept should fit in one cardboard box. I've come to regret some of the boxes I threw out. Mostly I just have disks/CDs and manuals now but only a few boxes.
    I've read LGR mention that he uses Ikea "Billy" bookcases, so this is a good demo of how they look and fit. I've been debating what kind of shelving unit to use for my stuff and how deep the shelves should be. I have a lot of console cartridges (which are pretty shallow) but also some PC stuff that wants more depth. I guess for the sake of efficiency I'm leaning towards deeper shelves even though it would probably make the console cartridges look pretty buried.
    I might even challenge my comfort zone and try to build something myself for once in my life. It doesn't look like it would save much money, but at least I'd have control over the dimensions.
