    Ive been using the kincrome 8” mini bolt cutters from Bunnings for 3-4 years now and some days can cut 1000s of wires for orchard repairs and have only had one pair chip out of 6 that the staff and I use. I have used some knipex which were slightly better but for the price I can’t justify it especially with staff using/losing them.

    The Gallagher fencing pliers with the side cutter are the smoothest cutters ive ever used. I was sceptical to buy another pair of pliers, but after one cut, my parrot beaks went away and haven't been out in 13 years

    I found this very helpful especially being over 50 female with very small hands so I have trouble with the span of most of them I will definitely be looking for a pair of those little ones ❤

    Awesome, cool demonstration. I happen to have the kimpex. I was not surprised at their performance because my comparison with all of the other types i have used over the years, they cut better than anything i have ever used.

    You left out the fenceline plier loss factor Tim. How many sets get lost on the job. You can buy 4 pair of fencing pliers to 1 of knipex. I personally don't lose tools but if someone else helps I come up short. Every thing gets painted with flouro orange spray marking paint.

    Yep, good video; Maun are my favourite all-rounders every time, but I bought a pair of the Knipex cutters following a review of yours a year or two or three ago, and they are definitely the best small cutters around. But I'd not leave my Mauns behind!

    Great video - would like to see it with 2.5 high tensile - I started with Maun, and the regular line up of Fencing Pliers in 1980 - now I have Knipex Small Bolt cutters and end cutters.
    Knipex 71 31 200 do most of work - they cut so well and fit the hand so well -- The Mauns still come along for the ride, habit I guess.
    A pair of recently acquired Knipex 61 01 200 High Leverage End Cutters are proving to be very versatile - these could be a video by themselves, so many uses
    Just ordered Knipex 71 01 250 and 71 31 250 just to see if the longer handle is an advantage.
    Knipex is now my go to plier for all tasks.

    Knipex also make a soft grip handle for their side cutters that i use at work on stainless wire , I wonder if they are a option on you favourite cutter they certainly are nicer to use in the side cutter version, on a side note i also have the Bahco mini bolt cutters nice soft grip but a bit clunky to use , great content mate ,great that the load cell will take out the human bias in the test .

    Love the test. I win a pair of knipex from you Tim at a field day this year and am I the only one that have found then very hard to open? After like 2 weeks of use the spring doesn’t work and very tight?

      @@FarmLearningTim the knipex cobolts come in a few different flavors, you can get them with a spring if you want. I use the offset angle knipex with the notch and no spring.

    Tim you said in your intro that you will be using the mid section where most people hold the pliers, on your test jig you were at the end of the pliers, I assume the results would have been worse or heavier should you have tested on the mid section I'm a good 60+ and have yet to find anything I can call half easy to use.

    • @FarmLearningTim
      @FarmLearningTim  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not quite. I was using where you would place your hand. Some pliers were very tricky and others we might disagree about where that is. Definitely try the knipex. They will surprise you

  • @user-rv6zk1pp7r
    @user-rv6zk1pp7r 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Maybe your title should have been “best fence cutters” Tim, as others have pointed out some of those tested are just cutters whereas some have other functions. I mostly use the long handled Knipex mini bolts as they are easier to fish out of my pocket. If they are the notch version they’ll cut sheep mesh & smaller gauge weld mesh no worries. I do have some Bahcos, for my staff 😂. Last count of assorted Knipex brand pliers, cutters, multi grips was about 18 😏

    What about Crescent brand fencing pliers? The Knipex cobolt cutters are better for cutting, but that's really all they can do. The Crescent 10" fencing pliers are a great all rounder if you only want one tool in your pocket.

  • @steve9007

    The only problem with the knipex is I always chip the very end on one side or the other. The bahco clones are even worse. Those i chipped the end on the very first cut and returned them. Garbage. I only use the knipex even with the chip.

    Knipex make what they call a linesman pliers with a longer cutter and they cut wire about as good as their cutters you had the best result with.
