- Bring out the artist in yourself with Marblizing Artistic Basecoats from House of Kolor. Jon Kosmoski shows you how easy and fun The Art of Marblizing can be in this step-by-step video. With help from custom painter Danny Christiansen, Jon Kosmoski refinishes a 1981 Buick Regal with this unique paint system. During this lesson, you will learn everything from base coat selection and application to the proper use of Seran Wrap. Marblizing is a technique that is versatile, easy to use, and the results are amazing. Learn the basics from House of Kolor's founding father and let your imagination run wild. Get your vehicle noticed because the paint is the first thing they see.
I love how there is no annoying music in the background. This video is timeless.
To do all the marbleizing inside the trunk, door jams and under the hood, really shows the amount of detail. I'm impressed. I wish I could be there to watch and help these artists.
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT video.....it is Instructive, interesting, fun and through, and even for me, a basic, DIY, garage, classic car, common TLC guy. I do NOT paint cars as a profession and have only painted 2 cars as a hobby. BUT this video, while instructive and all about painting, is THE BEST COMMUNICATED VIDEO I'VE SEEN IN YEARS, ON ANY SUBJECT. It even makes me feel as if I could paint a car as shown, LOL. But once more, I'm NOT a car painter. So I don't think I could. But "hats-Off" to the guy's who developed this video, {camera work, editors, painter's and host}. BTW, I'm a communication specialists in business....so I have an understanding of HOW EFFECTIVE Communication happens, especially "How to Videos." Nice going.
Love your attitude Jon...do it right or not at all !!!!Old school craftsmanship ...hard to find these days!!!!
could not have said it better my self. 👍
A orderly list of materials and a final show off to appreciate the job, would be the top cherry of the work. Great video.
The most comprehensive painting video I've found.
thanks!
I’ve done 2 marbling paint jobs. 1 was a dark cherry red with the red/red marblizer and the other was a white/silver marble using bubble wrap and topped with a green candy. Both were awesome.
WOW I'm digging it, what a lot of work but worth it. I was a body man for Larry Watson in the 60s everything was lacquer or acrylic lacquer, Nice video and GREAT Job. Thanks William
I only wish the paints were around from the 80s! Unfortunatly with all the new 'safer' stuff, lots more work etc. I miss the old school paints!! Nice job!
aaron anderson I was wondering. Because I haven't painted anything in 30 yrs! All the paint now is water based. I haven't use any of that stuff. Lol!
The guy that taught me how to paint was doing this kind of work at a Maaco in Florida. I couldn't believe it when he told me. He also warned me about chemical bubbling. When the paint vapor cant get through the clearcoat when drying in the sun or heat.
Excellent tutorial...Wondering what the reason for using the large #80 air cap? It's the air cap size I use for priming. The gun I use for paint is a JGA 502 Devilbiss #43 air cap...would this air cap work?
I still have my Binks 7 with metalflake. 086 tip, 2 jga's Devilbiss, with 2 quart pressure pots, for pearls and candys, with 765 air caps. 1 MBC Devilbiss with 30 air cap for spot and panel spray, those were fun days, William
great video...looks awesome
looks amazing...
Thank you! Cheers!
USED IT FOR ACCENTING LETTERING...AWESOME PRODUCT!!
you are def amaster painternice work and great info
We're one white truck in a Costco sea of white trucks in this area. Gawd, I wish this was affordable!
when you're not showing us the final result in the sunshine up close - we have no clue how it went ??? look good from a distance, but how how does it really look ?? you know - we don't. Afraid of something
Nothing like a good cup Gun..Old MBC Devilbiss i see u are using...
You didn't show the end results of the car being out side in the sun close up to us , that would of the been the best part to see what it really come up to look like the Marblizing paint job ........

I tried using that show clear usco1 this year 2019 on 2 cars and man it fkd us because it’s hard as a rock like nothing I’ve ever buffed. I let both cars sit 2 weeks then color sanded. First car barley got buffed out after 2 weeks of wool pads. Second car was like buffing a piece of granite. You couldn’t get a 2000 grit scratch to go away. the solvent was separating from the leftover puck, then it left rashes all over the car because the solvent never absorbed into the clear properly.
It cost thousands of dollars to reprep and reclear the car In ppg finally and I’m broken by this guys product. it finally looks amazing after I lost my mind and my money! FUHK
Great pigments but don’t trust the clearcoat.
Fantastic x
Is there a way to have a black marblizer?
Yup they have it in black, I did a caddy in black marble, it came out sick !

Who are the top 3
painters/ shops around ?
That's a helluva transition at 18:59
Great tutorial !!
How about a product list, An what type of primer did you use on the plastic?
Looks like an old devilbiss MBC. I used To spray synthetic enamel with one of those years ago..
I love that gun back in the old days and my sharp gun
Can you use 2 color Marbleizing at once?
Read the technical bulletins and follow it to the T and you won't have problems with this paint or products
That ride is any Mexicans dream car! Olé 😬
This is my favorite design Candy apple green marblizing
Now that's old-school! still gotta love it though I would like to know how many years ago this was filmed
Warren Margetts back in the early 80's
pharraway would love to see how the car looks now days, ive always loved buick regals
pharraway Wow thats along time ago I didn't know that candy paint existed that far back
jr Rangel same here bro
These paint jobs became really popular in the mid to late 1990's. I'm guessing this was filmed sometime then? He said the Regal was a 1981 if this was filmed in the early 80's? It would be practically a new car.
very nice
very cool..
Trapping solvents .... dry back ? You mean dye back .
You should be using a 6 inch orbital polisher such as the one from 3M. It eliminates swirl marks
The swirl marks get removed with the glaze....its not the polisher lollll
@Matt Miller ive detailed cars professionally for 22years total and you dont know my name...
Is it just me but didn’t I see him rolling his wrists, not making a full pass, not getting the edges, but just wildly painting everything and anything?
The focus on the camera was bad so you cant see the full effect of the paint job.
Wish I could paint.
king0cans you can, just gotta try. Start small and see if you have a natural skill for it.
striker titan I'm going to learn. I'm definitely having fun doing body work. Painting some metal art is next to figure it out.
@@king0cans 2 years later... I'm curious if you've done any painting yet.
Lack of blocking the clear is all I see . ready of this video is very good .
Would look even better with Centre Line Convo Rev II's on (not sure how wide you can go on that car, maybe do some small mini tubs if needed) with 325/50/15's in the back.
That will look nice
Shut the fuck up
The lighting could have been alot better, you couldn't really see the marblizing on the finished product.
When was the last time you tried to film in the 90's. Camcorders back then were not really good under different lighting conditions. You needed probably twice the light to get it as bright as an iphone6 could do on it's own these days.
This video must be 30 years old.
About 25
It’s called die back, not dye back.
dat Bowlin Ball paint
You could have gotten a close up of the paint job. It looked like just a plane paint job.
"Plain" and listen to the audio and also look at the gun their using. This was from ages ago they probably had a set camera that couldn't even zoom in yet lol.
+BigJsgarage
20 years ago is my guess. Isn't how long it takes to do 100 coats? Just kidding. This guy is the man.
Bald dudes with ponytails...............funny. It looks like his hair is slipping off his head.
Scott Iwen not as funny as your idiotic comment...
..........so I'm assuming you're balding with a ponytail. Sorry, bro. No offence to you.
@@iwens1966 are u bald yet??you know its coming for you..no matter how loud you laugh!!
untouchable, light after darkness , don’t worry, it is. I’m developing a solar panel on top of my head.
Way over complicated
You ever spayed marblizer? It is a pain in the ass.
