Because of the Steam Deck, I’m now able to play all of the games I missed out on decades ago. Everything from PS2, PS3, Wii U, Wii, and even Xbox and Xbox 360 games, and even the latest AAA PC games I can now play - all in one comfy handheld. It’s freakin’ insane. Even when I was younger, I never thought we’d have a device like this. I have like 70 games from emulation alone that I’m currently playing through. Currently playing Wild Arms 3 on PS2 emulator. I freaking love this thing! :D
Right? When i was a young lad, I never would have dreamed of such a portable handheld device with such power! My first console was a NES and I played the ever living crap out of it. I knew all the tricks to get faulty games working; blowing the cartridge, pinch slamming the cart at the lip, rubbing alcohol cleaning kits that basically you bought just for the cool plastic NES case it came in, and the best way to get a cartridge working that was giving you trouble would be to attach it to a game genie and it would just work. Sega Genesis & Super Nintendo was a great era as well. How times have changed, and here we are. What an exciting device, especially for those of us around my age, who grew up and witnessed the evolution of gaming!
Absolutely love my steam deck as well as my switch! 🥰 Might be worth it to note that Steam allows refunds for any game within 2 weeks of purchase as long as you’ve played less than 2 hours. So you can test out any game on the deck to make sure it works for you!
For those that the deck is too heavy/hot, you can dock the deck. You can leave it plugged into the wall and the tv. You will need a dock/hub that has a power port (PD port) , hdmi port, and usb port/s. You can then place the deck wherever you like and don't have to hold it. Also you have the option of using keyboard and mouse if you need to. Can use cordless for controller, keyboard and mouse. You will lose the track pads doing this but some controllers have one pad.
I believe 2 pros to the steam deck that you didn’t mention is that, depending on your region, games on steam can go cheaper compared to the same game on the eshop. And steam goes on sale a lot. The other pro is of course emulation. If there’s an old game that you wish to play handheld, you don’t need to jailbreak the steam deck like you would with other consoles just to do it, and it’s a fairly easy process with no fear of getting bricked and whatnot.
Don’t forget the steam deck gives you the option to change the refresh rate and frame rate of the screen. Often if a game runs hot or eats battery setting the screen refresh to 40 hz and frame rate to 40 fps will solve the issue to an extent. Many of the newer heavy duty games don’t run at 60 fps but hover around 45 to 50 so you can end up with a smoother experience, lower temps and longer battery life with the “golden 40/40” as I believe it’s called. Being able to tinker with settings like this is one of the reasons to love the steam deck lol
Thanks for the Steam Deck review from a normal person's perspective. I like to see these videos and see the various use cases. My mom has a chronic illness too. She likes the Steam Deck because she can sit on the couch and play games. I also have to take a break from the Steam Deck too, and roll my wrists. It's a great device and I absolutely love it.
I have not touched my switch since I got the steam deck. Really love the deck. Because I can’t have a pc because of room this had finally got me stared on some amazing games I wanted to play but was not ok the switch yet. Also I did finally got the controls on Sun Heaven to a comfortable place but it took a lot playing around. Couldn’t get my Otome games to play yet but that my next project.
this is such a helpful review with a perspective that so many people can relate to! i personally love that the switch has created this niche console genre that really does help with accessibility. i've definitely been thinking about picking up a steam deck for a while now, and this may have just swayed me to put it on my christmas wishlist this year! thanks so much for such a balanced and informative review!
A big point in favour of the Steam Deck over the Switch for me is that the Deck respects its user. The Switch is a locked-down system which will brick itself if you try to run your own software on it or mod it to suit your needs - it's like Nintendo are saying: "This device you bought? You don't really own it. We have the right to tell you what you can and can't do with it." The Steam Deck on the other hand lets you get into its guts as much as you want, even install a different operating system on it if that's what you want to do. Valve released their own tutorial on how to open up the Deck and replace components. That shows respect for their customers' intelligence. I know most casual users might not ever want to get into modding and that's fine, but everyone should still recognise the value of a company that respects them as a customer over one that treats them like a tenant.
I know you posted this a while ago, but I wanted you to know this specific review was so helpful for me! I am also chronically ill so the specific con about the hot screen was something I really needed to hear, and not included in any other videos I've watched! Anyway, I finally ordered my deck and I'm so excited for it to arrive. it will be my first pc gaming experience too, so I'm excited for it to open so many gaming doors for me! also, even my switch lite is heavy for me to hold up, I recommend propping a pillow on your lap and resting the console on it while you play! it's so helpful and let's me game for way longer :) thank you payton!! sending hugs and spoons ♡
i really appreciate this review. i’m dealing with chronic csf leak and i’m bedbound 24/7 and was struggling a lot to 1. distract myself and 2. use a computer while laying flat. and i kept wondering how the steam deck would work for chronic illness so thank you ❤️
I am also a cozy gamer with weak hands chronic pain and chronic illness so this is the most useful and informative review of the steam deck I've seen thank you for this!!! I currently use a gaming laptop it's not as powerful as a PC and not as portable as a handheld console but for me I think I might stick to using it since I can like get a desk for my bed that is near a plug in with an external cooling fan and play it as long as I'm able to sit up in bed or on the couch or at my desk. One thing that's cool but doesn't always work well is that joycons and pro controllers are compatible with steam even the ones you get with your switch just connect it with Bluetooth I've not personally found many uses for this way to play with the games I like but maybe that can help someone who wasn't aware of that like I wasn't for years lol
The only things I don't like about my gaming laptop (Razer Blade 15) are it has loud ever present fans, needs a big honking power bar, and the whole cooling pad/lap desk makes it all bulky and a chore to set up. Then once I set myself up it sometimes occurs to me that I forgot something or need to go to the bathroom. Also the mouse is a bit awkward to operate from bed.
It's so nice to relate to someone so closely in the need for a steam deck! I have stage 4 endometriosis. This comes with lots and lots of chronic pain and some days i cant even sit upright let alone even get out of bed. I love my pc, but im just too uncomfortable most of the time. The last time i forced myself to sit at my desk i had to take 3 days off work. I have played so many more steam games this year because of the deck. This is a great device for so many people and i hope that the cozy community sees its potential! Another great thing is i DID dock mine in my living room and i have a keyboard and mouse so i basically have 2 PC setups in my house. Though i do tend to play handheld. Again, this thing is great
Since your most-liked use case is playing somewhere comfortable, and two of the things you don't like are the device getting hot and running down the battery with demanding games, and you also have a desktop PC, you may find it useful to experiment with Steam Remote Play: the game runs on your desktop PC but streams the video to, and takes control inputs from, your Deck. The Deck is barely doing anything - just decoding a video stream and sending inputs - so the battery lasts a long time and the device doesn't get hot.
steam deck size its ok. Not bulky as a laptop and not so heavy even for the sizes it has. I got the 64GB model. Im impressed that this machine can run AAA games better than some laptops. Best price/performance. About the battery i can forgive SD. So good we have powerbanks with 25k mah. With that you can play for about 6 hours. (4 hours 1 power bank charge + 2 hours running steam deck fully charged). If Valve release a new SD in the future im sure it will be a huge performance, we have better hardware and GPUs from now on. Happy gaming.
I’ve been planning on a steam deck for awhile now, but have been hesitant until more of the games I want to play are optimized for it (sunhaven is a big one and I’m so sad to hear it’s very difficult 😭). A video idea I’d love is a list of cozy games that actually run okay on the steam deck! Some games I’d love to hear about is if coral island or a little witch in the woods is practical to play on here
I have been playing Sun Haven on my steam deck more than I have played it on my computer. I would say the main difficulties are some of the UI is small. A lot of games that start off difficult can be made easier it just takes some work. I did some custom mapping of key binds for things like spells, inventory, map, skills, and quests.
I’ve been playing Sun Haven on my SD, & there r controller templates posted by other users in the SD community, & I downloaded one of them instead of tweaking on my own & works great. & some old PC games that work only w/ keyboard & mouse. I use the trackpad as mouse & set keyboard keys to buttons. Been playing Mass Effect 1&2 fine that way. There’s so much flexibility & work-arounds, thanks to the SD community.
@@vv2922 oooh! Whose template did you end up using? That would be make things a lot easier than remapping manually for everything (especially for those of us who aren’t as seasoned with thorough optimization)
@@BitterSweetNitemare click the game you wanna play (or while the game is playing), go to controller configs, click the controller template bar (default will say “gamepad”), then it will show a list of basic templates but just click R1 button to scroll to ‘community layouts’ & pick the one you want based on descriptions, wait to download, & click Y/X to apply layout & you’re good to go. I got the one titled “Stead Deck Layout with 2 Virtual Menus” by Babi, but there’s more since the last time I picked.
I would also like to add that the Steam Deck is also good if you love tinkering. Many people install 2 operating systems to play non-steam games. But the Deck is already good out of the box, considering the price and the number of games you can play.
I plan to install windows. But I just got it and I want to learn the steam is more before I install it. Because if I install windows out of the box I know I’ll never use steam is at all.
@@kaoe145 i would recommend enjoying the steam deck without any advanced tinkering at first. SteamOS is good already and you'll enjoy the games available on Steam. Happy gaming ♥️
I too have a chronic illness (fibromyalgia) I love portable gaming. I’ve always preferred it ever since the Nintendo DS Lite era! I loveeee my steam deck. It allows me to play all the awesome PC games without dropping a ton of money on a PC. It’s a win win!
It seems to me that cozy gamers really like a certain aesthetic. 😄 So you might be interested in steam deck vinyl skins from companies like dbrand, I've heard they can be tricky to apply but they just look so cool. 😄 Great review btw, honest and balanced.
Don’t know if you’ll see this but if you prop the deck on your lap while you play and then just keep an open space at the back for airflow it completely takes the weight problem out. I’ve also got a chronic pain condition ( and other things) and that’s how I can play for hours. Really hope this helps! Absolutely love your channel you’re so cheery!
I LOVE your channel so much! Thank you for reviewing cozy games. This video about the pros and cons of using a Steam Deck is awesome! Thank you for reviewing it. I was thinking of purchasing it. But I might wait for the next Steam Deck. I have a gaming laptop I'm using at the moment. But I really enjoy the versatility of handheld consoles. Especially ones that can be played on your tv screen, as well as in handheld mode. Thanks again,
There are actually many community threads that have list for games not Steam verified and how well they work, and ways to get them to run if possible. The Deck uses Proton to allow windows games to run on Linux, and there are many different versions of Proton to be had. While this isn't as easy as dropping a cart in the Switch, it's far from hard to do, even for users with no experience. Steam also has an amazing refund policy, so even if you get a game that doesn't run properly, or your not advanced enough for some community fixes, so long as it's within the time frame, and under a certain amount of playtime, you can get your funds back. Another great selling point of the Deck, is the amazing sales on games, as a game like the Witcher 3 on Switch runs sub par and cost $60, I got the GOTY edition for $10. Fanatical is the sight were I get the best deals on pretty much a daily basis, and they show if games are verified or not, and links to the Steam pages as well. I haven't paid over 20 for any AAA title, and most have cost under 10, and Indie titles are normally only a few bucks, it's insanity. LOL
I just got my steam deck oled a few days ago and man was I blown away by how good some of these games look on it! totally worth it in my eyes 👀. Still figuring out some settings and short cuts but I love it so far 👻
The steam deck is almost an essential for those of us that travel for work a lot and love to game. It fits in my suitcase so I no longer have the weight or worry of carrying around my whole laptop setup and I can play almost all of the same games in my steam library. Since I got it I hardly ever consider getting third party games for my switch. If it plays on switch odds are it will play and look better on steam deck. As far as comfort goes, I actually find it way more comfortable than the switch. I always played switch docked with a pro controller because my hands would cramp up on the little joycons, and I don’t even have large hands lol. I think the best part about the steam deck is the community of players all testing and sharing their playing experience and settings with each other all trying to get their favorite games working optimally.
Congrats on 11k!! You are one of my comfort TH-camrs, and I’m so glad I found your channel! Love the vid, gonna have to try it out. Keep up the great work pay!
I am with you on that pain and honestly it's what stops me from playing and what has stopped me in the past from starting a youtube channel. You have inspired me though to try though and how you find the energy to do your makeup is beyond me lol but you always look amazing! I want that steam deck so bad or one of those lay down desks hahahaha a girl can dream
You should absolutely try! I did my first stream not long after my diagnosis and I was in too much pain and wasn’t ready. I took a little more time and then started streaming in January 2022- I’ve been streaming and making videos consistently since. And while it doesn’t take the pain away- it’s brought me so much joy that I don’t think about the pain as much. I’m sending all the positivity your way 💕
Just past week I got my steamdeck, and so far: I love it! It’s a great addition next to the other devices. Especially if you want to play pc games but don’t have a pc, and why I liked your vid most, is bc your experience in life is similar to mine and thats also a big reason why I choose the steamdeck. I am autistic and have pmdd so for much time I don’t have the energy anymore to sit behind a desk, and being on the couch or in bed is best for me, then I’m actually resting imo. I also have a Nintendo Switch but I also desired to play games that were not on the Switch, so I too am very happy with the SteamDeck as addition to my gaming experience ❤
Dinkum is my favorite game atm and I’ve thought of getting a steam deck just to be able to play it more but I do have a gaming laptop so I can just put it in my lap. It does get hot though so the portability would be nice. There are a lot of mods available for Dinkum right now and one of them is having passive mobs so if hunting is something that deters you from trying it, that is an option. You can add mods on the steam deck as well. Jennooki has tried it and it works for her. I don’t kill any animals unless I’m being attacked by a crocodile or something and that’s not that often, but the peaceful minds mod would be so nice.
Im new to your channel and i didnt know about your chronic pain. I have the same issue. I ended up with a switch and a ps5 for the same reason. I had to be comfortable- well as much as we can be in of course. Wish you well 😊
GRWAT TO SEE GROWTH IN YOUR CHANNEL FROM SWITCH TO PC KING STEAMDECK IT PLAYS SO MUCH GOD OF WAR HZD CYBERPUNK GTA5 SPIDERMAN ITS AWESOME AND A SERIOUS UPGRADE FROM SWITCH
I appreciate your review although I don't have a chronic pain illness I do often experience some pain frequently in my arms and hands so knowing about the heat and the heaviness being an issue since I do get uncomfortable often playing the oled switch hand held... I will look into getting the dock as well knowing this because I have been getting tired of the lack of good cozy games on the switch and also tired of trying games I don't like past the first hour and having paid money for them for an hour of fun only.
Aloha and thank you for the awesome content on the steam deck! I'm looking forward to more of your content on the deck. Keep up the awesome work on this incredible device! Subbed 🤙
I love my steam deck! It was interesting to hear your pros and cons. My biggest tip for extending battery life with hefty games like Coral Island is lowering graphic settings.
@@sweetshae4788 animal crossing is a Nintendo title so that’s only able to be played on Nintendo switch. Other games that are on in Switch that are also on steam would work on steam deck like Stardew Valley, Disney Dreamlight Valley, etc
I love mine! Sometimes I play it outside the house when I have to wait for an appointment. It's honestly so comfortable to play PC games whenever I want to
I got 2 steam decks and love them. It’s the PC of Nintendo switch and I like to have all my save games cross synced. A underrated feature. We need cross platform sync
I had no idea you had a chronic illness... I'm sorry to hear that. I have multiple sclerosis and I can't walk without hugging a wall. I found that exercise can help to dramatically reduce symptoms of inflammation like your chronic pain. I don't know if it works for your condition, I'm just dropping ideas here because it makes me really sad to hear that someone is suffering from something too. I wish you the best of luck and I hope it's manageable. I was JUST thinking if the Steam Deck was good and ta-daaah, I got a notification for your video!
Great video! I really want a steam deck because I love my switch but don’t have time for pc games. Love playing in short bursts and also really want to play the sims 3 portably lol
Thankyou so much for this information I'm looking at purchasing a steam deck for my Sims as I don't get time to go on laptop it's a ball ache getting it out setting up and I suffer with chronic back pain ❤
Thank you for the video, I was more like I dont want anymore because of the heat and the noisy fan but in the end if you still say that you love the steam deck then I should get one
The weight of the Steam Deck has held me back to get it. I also have issues with my hands, they go numb really quickly and the regular switch is already quite heavy for me to hold. How do you play comfortably?
My go to is I usually play laying down in bed but I put a comfy pillow on my chest and lay the steamdeck down. That way it’s not so bad on my hands and wrists!
Thank you for the thorough review! As much as I want to play PC exclusives and Stardew Valley Expanded anywhere, the low battery life and heat issues are deal-breakers for me. Those two points are comparable to the original Gameboy or Sega Game Gear. I'll watch for the next Steam Deck release tho.
You can low the tdp which will lower power consumption. Just lower it into it slows down. Than raise it by one. I do this with all the games to increase battery life.
Awesome Vid! Setup a SteamDeck for a neighbor, now I want one! Im also trying to find cool/clean tech vids for my 3 daughters to watch: Excellent Job! New Subs Over here!
Wow, I was not aware of the Steam Deck. I’d heard the term, but didn’t know what it was until your video popped up. I have been playing Garden Paws on steam (I’ve heard it’s really buggy on switch). Highly recommend that game, and would love to play in bed. I also have a chronic health condition, though have daily pain, but not constant. Sorry to hear about your pain.
I have a steam deck, but my screen didn't work so I had to send it back in and I'm now waiting on a replacement deck. I hope this one will work fine because everyone seems to love theirs.
Like and subbed. Thanks for making me laugh, and thanks to the algorithm for bringing me here. Also, it's a bit involved, but you can play switch games on the deck with Yuzu! Better performance most of the time too!
Animal Crossing works great, but unfortunately you won't have access to the Nintendo network. Games like Breath of the Wild that are less dependent on the network are *excellent* to run on the deck.
Steam Deck replaced my laptop. It is quieter, more performant, lighter, and less of a chore to get around with. I use it in both Desktop mode with mouse and keyboard to play games like Arma 3, NavalArt and other such, and in gaming mode to get through my backlog of games that are compatible with controller controls. Lately it was Panzer Knights, Little Witch Nobeta, Linelight and Tetris Effect I often enough set it up as a console at big screen with multiple controllers to play with my sister and guests with four player couch multiplayer. Some great games for this are Horizon Chase Turbo and Colt Canyon. But 1v1 fighting games are also sweet Cons? Accessories don't ship to Ukraine, it is a hassle to get Deck-specific things. Aside for that, it is superb
I don't think I could do without a physical game collection . But the games on the steam are my jam . I'm conflicted . I'd take a new Switch pro version 😁
i am definitely going to look more into the steam deck now! it seems like so much fun, maybe i can ask for one for my birthday or something ☺ i have one question that might sound a bit confusing: if you connect your accounts together on the steam deck and computer, would you be able to play the games you already bought on computer without buying them again on steam deck?
Yeah so your library syncs as long as you’re using the same steam account! So if I purchase say Coral Island on my PC but I want to play it on steam deck I don’t need to buy it just need to sign in!
I actually haven’t played it docked because I prefer the handheld experience- but people have said it runs great when docked and can help with the some of the games that are just too big for a small screen. But yes you would just use a separate controller!
quick question, when it’s docked/connected to a tv, can you use a Bluetooth controller to play? or in handheld is it possible to still use a controller separately?
I love my steam deck, but I wouldn’t call it user friendly. I would do a switch for someone’s first console, and the steamdeck as an entry to pc gaming or as an additional way to play for existing gamers pc gamers.
I use a 512 GB Micro SD Card even with this version (64 gb). 😊 And as most are very light (cozy games), it takes time to complete. I prefer Triple AAA games on my Xbox. 😌
You might not know this but... Lol the steam deck it's not limited to just a microSD;) you can install up to 2tb SSD on any deck model. I'm currently using my 1tb steam deck. And if you like, or need it, you can install a windeck version of Windows (debloated) 100%! Great. It goes beyond our first thoughts...
Late commenter, but I really want to get the steam deck because I want to get into farming/cozy pc games. Only thing is that idk if I should get a tv first then the steam deck because I’m physically handicapped and I can’t hold heavy devices, nor can I sit up for a long period of time due to pain. I used to have a tv but I gave it to my brothers like 8 years ago lol. Would you still recommend saving up for the steam deck if I haven’t tried pc gaming at all?
Hello 🙂 I don't know if it will be of any help but the steam decks weight is 669 grams or 1.48lbs. For comparison, if you have a Nintendo switch it weight is 400 grams or 0.88lbs. What would the optimal setup look like for you? Would you connect the steam deck to a TV and also connect a separate light weight controller to play with? That's definitely possible, I often do that myself. 🙂
It kind of depends. The Switch Lite is the cheapest at $200 ($100 cheaper than the Xbox Series S) although the Lite doesn't have TV support which can be a factor if you like to play local multiplayer like Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Even at $300 and $350, it's still a good price although you'll have to get your own Switch games. However, Nintendo does have Switch Online which offers emulation of NES/Famicom, SNES/Super Famicom, Game Boy, and Game Boy Color games, and the Expansion Pack added in Genesis/Mega Drive, Nintendo 64, and Game Boy Advance emulation. The most obvious downside of the Switch would be the lack of quality third-party titles especially Mature/18+ rated games (for example, The Sims 4 isn't on the Switch). The Steam Deck is more expensive ($400-$650), but I'd say it offers more value to existing Windows gamers as you can play most Windows games on the Deck, and there are a number of games that are released on Windows (or Xbox and/or PlayStation) that aren't on the Switch. The caveat is that not all games will work on Linux such as games with anti-cheat and hardware intended for Windows may not function properly (for example, gaming mice and keyboards). The storage can be a downside (although you can compensate with a microSD card or a third-party dock with an M.2 slot) as even 512 GB is too small for modern 9th generation titles and most 8th generation titles. When comparing the Deck or ROG Ally to gaming computers, I'd say the Deck offers more value at 64 GB and 256 GB especially when you compare to scam gaming desktops like Alarco and ViprTech who are selling gaming PCs at $500 with a GTX 650 that doesn't work with modern games.
For games that are not verified to run on the steam deck, would they work just as running on a pc if the steam deck is docked and connected to a desktop screen, mouse, etc. ?
You forgot to mention the return policy! If you make a mistake and you purchase a game that doesn't work, you have 1 hour of play to test and return it no question asked.
Compere to the switch? Lol I really don't think they are in the same race track XD. But hey some people like the switch, some like the deck. In my eyes, the deck is very very flexible
I had a 3060 gaming laptop it ran every AAA game on high graphics and was an Amazing machine buuuuttttt…. I never played it because I have ps5 and series x but I also play more switch because I’m lazy tbh lol I just want to relax when I game so I sold it for a steam deck I can’t wait to make it pink and play coral island 😁
Honest opinion - Steamdeck is too big, too heavy to be a handheld. I also think the Switch is also too big to use as a handheld. I do like the Switch Lite but really the 3DS is still the best handheld for me. I also fight with chronic pain from arthritis in my hands and shoulder so I really need to play mostly docked with a controller in each hand as I need to keep my hands apart due to the shoulder issues.
I haven't played it on the Steam Deck (since I don't own the Deck), but it's verified. I have played it on my laptop with the RTX 2060 and it runs well.
Hi i don’t have a steam deck but you did say the difference between the models was just storage which is not entirely true. The two higher price models also come with the SSD drive which the 64 does not :-)
The switch is an outdated android tablet from 2016 that won’t run the new Zelda at 1080p 60…. The steam deck is much more powerful and grants you access to steam, and emulation… the switch is dogshit
Could you confirm the emulation for Switch game 100% run perfectly on Steamdeck? I heard some games got black screen or shuttering. Also with emulation you can't access the online feature.
the steam deck does look amazing i’m just not sure yet thank you for this amazing video and all the information about this system it’s going to be a tough decision 😊 thank you for always giving your thoughts and intake on everything you do your an amazing wholesome human being Payton

We have the right to tell you what you can and can't do with it."
The Steam Deck on the other hand lets you get into its guts as much as you want, even install a different operating system on it if that's what you want to do.
Anyway, I finally ordered my deck and I'm so excited for it to arrive. it will be my first pc gaming experience too, so I'm excited for it to open so many gaming doors for me!
also, even my switch lite is heavy for me to hold up, I recommend propping a pillow on your lap and resting the console on it while you play! it's so helpful and let's me game for way longer :)
thank you payton!! sending hugs and spoons ♡
i really appreciate this review. i’m dealing with chronic csf leak and i’m bedbound 24/7 and was struggling a lot to 1. distract myself and 2. use a computer while laying flat. and i kept wondering how the steam deck would work for chronic illness so thank you ❤️
I am also a cozy gamer with weak hands chronic pain and chronic illness so this is the most useful and informative review of the steam deck I've seen thank you for this!!!
Again, this thing is great
I have stage four Endo as well! Sending all the love! 💛
Great video! I bought the 64GB version & put a 1TB SSD in it and now it's good to go! I mainly use mines for Indies & emulation!
I relate to having a chronic pain condition and being able to game in bed is TOP TIER! Definitely wanting a steam deck for myself
Some games I’d love to hear about is if coral island or a little witch in the woods is practical to play on here
Yes! I plan to work on exactly that video! Stay tuned 🥰
Great review btw, honest and balanced.
I didn’t love my steam deck as much as I did but now I love it I’ve never had a game that runs badly yet which is really good & lucky!
Honestly I’ve really only had one game not run well so I call that a win!! Glad you’re loving yours!!
Thank you for your review from someone else with chronic illness and chronic pain I greatly appreciate it!!
Oh that is REALLY good to know about Dinkum I will absolutely look into that!
Ooh this had a lot of good information. Thanks for the review!
Steam+X is a critical shortcut for when you have to call up the full keyboard
I wish I knew about steam deck before I bought a switch
The steam deck is still relatively new! It came out Feb 2022, but the switch has been around since 2017!
I love my Steamdeck! It’s amazing! A spoonie’s best friend!
Aloha and thank you for the awesome content on the steam deck! I'm looking forward to more of your content on the deck. Keep up the awesome work on this incredible device! Subbed 🤙
What do YOU think about the Steam Deck?
It's pretty cool for suuuure! But I'm not gonna buy it tho..! Cause I already have a Switch!
Can you play Animal crossing on Steam Deck? Or Switch games on The Steam Deck?
Why would you need two?
And if your not playing triple A games the battery life is exactly pretty good.
If you're playing stardew valley you'll likely get 6-8 hours of battert life
@@fatidicusaeternus6498you won't more like 3-4 hours
Awesome Vid!
Setup a SteamDeck for a neighbor, now I want one!
Im also trying to find cool/clean tech vids for my 3 daughters to watch:
Excellent Job!
Very interesting, thanks for your review !
I also have games that say unsupported but work well on steam deck 😂😂! (Research story)
I have a gaming PC but streaming from my PC via sunshine/moonlight to my steam deck is my favourite way to play most games.
Lately it was Panzer Knights, Little Witch Nobeta, Linelight and Tetris Effect
I often enough set it up as a console at big screen with multiple controllers to play with my sister and guests with four player couch multiplayer. Some great games for this are Horizon Chase Turbo and Colt Canyon. But 1v1 fighting games are also sweet
Cons? Accessories don't ship to Ukraine, it is a hassle to get Deck-specific things. Aside for that, it is superb
I have fibromyalgia so much prefer handheld because of the constant pain. I have switch but just bought a steam deck and love it
I want to get a steam deck so badly for the game are:legend!!! Thanks for your review really appreciate your thoughts as I have a chronic pain as well
I got a 1tb steam deck with dock and 2 cases for 380
How?
I don't think I could do without a physical game collection . But the games on the steam are my jam . I'm conflicted . I'd take a new Switch pro version 😁
Ooo that’s a good point I didn’t think of! Collecting the physicals has never been my thing but I LOVE seeing people who have huge collections!
i am definitely going to look more into the steam deck now! it seems like so much fun, maybe i can ask for one for my birthday or something ☺
i have one question that might sound a bit confusing: if you connect your accounts together on the steam deck and computer, would you be able to play the games you already bought on computer without buying them again on steam deck?
Yeah so your library syncs as long as you’re using the same steam account! So if I purchase say Coral Island on my PC but I want to play it on steam deck I don’t need to buy it just need to sign in!
@@PaytonsCorner okay, thank you so much !! 😊
yes, your games and even the progress in those games is transfered over.
@@minyummm that's so awesome! thank you so much :)
Hi Payton. I love the wallpaper on your pc. Do you care to share it? Thanks.
Awesome stuff 🔥
How well does it work when docked to a TV? Is it like playing with a Switch? Do you just use a wireless controller?
I actually haven’t played it docked because I prefer the handheld experience- but people have said it runs great when docked and can help with the some of the games that are just too big for a small screen. But yes you would just use a separate controller!
quick question, when it’s docked/connected to a tv, can you use a Bluetooth controller to play? or in handheld is it possible to still use a controller separately?
@@Stoshnut thanks 👍🏼
Price wise, do you guys recommend a steam deck or nintendo switch/lite/oled
Proton db got a even better rating with platinum to borked
For games that are not verified to run on the steam deck, would they work just as running on a pc if the steam deck is docked and connected to a desktop screen, mouse, etc. ?
It would depend on the game!
There are also some pretty good clones coming out like one from ASUS that are more powerful.
You forgot to mention the return policy!
If you make a mistake and you purchase a game that doesn't work, you have 1 hour of play to test and return it no question asked.
Actually 2 hours (and it has to be within 2 weeks of buying it, still a very generous policy).
Wow Ur voice!!! Sounds exactly like the Tiktok app voice lol
You have a beautiful voice 🌟
Compere to the switch? Lol I really don't think they are in the same race track XD. But hey some people like the switch, some like the deck. In my eyes, the deck is very very flexible
I had a 3060 gaming laptop it ran every AAA game on high graphics and was an Amazing machine buuuuttttt…. I never played it because I have ps5 and series x but I also play more switch because I’m lazy tbh lol I just want to relax when I game so I sold it for a steam deck I can’t wait to make it pink and play coral island 😁
Playing coral island from my bed…it’s been the best thing ever 😭👏
Good video
@PaytonsCorner get a power bank
Can you play hogwarts legacy on steam deck?
Yep Hogwarts legacy is verified for the Steam deck. I haven't bought it myself yet but it's on my wishlist. 🙂
I haven't played it on the Steam Deck (since I don't own the Deck), but it's verified. I have played it on my laptop with the RTX 2060 and it runs well.
Hi i don’t have a steam deck but you did say the difference between the models was just storage which is not entirely true. The two higher price models also come with the SSD drive which the 64 does not :-)
The 64 comes with an ssd drive, this is just misinfo

The Steam deck is a monster. It’s so heavy and bulky I don’t know why they even made it a ‘portable’
Sellout👎🏼 😂Nintendo #1🎮💯💋
