    Came out really awesome! My daughter is a Batman fanatic. We totally should have done her room in Batman when she was younger, but didn't know how much she loved Batman really until about 5 years ago. She would have loved this.

    This is awesome, I think I'll try it sometime! (+ Added to my Bucket List)
    I'm surprised this video only has about 39,000 view as of now,
    I would think something this cool would have more viewings already, especially now that comics are a trend and acceptable.
    Thanks for showing us Dan The Maker Man!

    heavy duty poster board makes great stencils. I use them in airbrushing and painting. Also when you clear coat..for spray paint.make sure you let the item cure(dry) for about 4 days before you clear coat it. that way you wont get streaks and fish eyes.
    just a tip

    Pretty cool stuff! A little tip I'd recommend for the skinny parts of the stencil that you get under-spray from is to use L-Wrenches. I have a lot of little sized ones and they are perfect for parts of stencils like that. Try it..

    • @danthemakerman
      @danthemakerman  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Paraptorkeet Creations Thanks for the compliment, I'm not a pro at this by any means and I buy Krylon because its cheap. In my limited experience I've had less issues with Krylon than Rustoleum but that might just be me. I'm sure the high end spray paints would be way better. I might have to break down and spend some money on them one day. Thanks for watching.

    • @danthemakerman
      @danthemakerman  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tape and razor yields better cleaner lines but its a one off, the stencil technique makes it easier to make more than one but the lines aren't as clean. I enjoy both, if I think I will make more than one then I will make a stencil. Thanks for the comment.

    • @danthemakerman
      @danthemakerman  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vizors Down Ontario Keep your visor down and both wheels facing the ground. JK. Maybe do a stencil per item or color rather. So one for the crank and one for the lettering. Finding that green might be hard too, check out the automotive stores for more color variety. But make sure you do a small test piece because sometimes paints from different manufactures don't work well together. Good luck.

    • @vizorsdownontario
      @vizorsdownontario 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the advice! I am looking forward to trying it out. By the way, I did a lot of looking around and your video was the best one by far about the more complicated stencilling! The green won't have to be dead on .. however ... I found safety stray paint in green .. which will work for sure!

    Do you need to wait for the paint to completely dry before pulling up the stencils?

    • @danthemakerman

      I prefer to wait. There have been times were I pull the tape and it curls up and sticks to the wet paint. If you are careful though this can be avoided.

    would it be hard to make that same stencil smaller

    • @danthemakerman
      @danthemakerman  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wouldn't be harder necessarily the only thing that would be tricky would be cutting out the detail because everything is going to be smaller. But the good thing about going smaller is that you can delete some of the detail and just stick to the larger shapes because it won't be as noticeable that something is missing on a smaller scale. Not sure that makes sense but this also depends on your skill with a razor blade. I've made an 8.5x11 version of this that I sprayed on a notebook cover but I used a different method for that it was basically a single use tape stencil.

    • @1987Cfo

      one more question where would I find that type of light box you used??

    • @danthemakerman
      @danthemakerman  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man that's pretty small but it might be doable. If I were going to try this I would find out how small I need to make the image then do a test stencil. But instead of making the stencil out of paper I would make it out of Blue painters tape. First print out the image then lay a strip of the wide blue tape on my cutting board then glue or tape the paper image on to the blue tape. Then cut out the stencil. Then I would transfer the tape to the shoe and spray. I always use a plastic cutting board as my cutting surface so I can cut in to the stencil as hard as I want.

    • @1987Cfo
      @1987Cfo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok I don't know if you've seen the cam Newton cleats but those are the ones I'm going to put it on. I'll definitely follow the steps you've laid out I have about 45 days to get them done so I appreciate all the advice.

    • @danthemakerman
      @danthemakerman  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem. I use poster board to make the stencil it is basically just thicker paper. It doesn't matter if its glossy or not. Most poster board usually has a shiny side and a dull side. Its not super glossy but it does have a shine to it. If you are talking about spray painting on to paper I would suggest the same thing to spray it on to some poster board. You can also spray on to a canvas lots of folks do this.
