    My injectors have failed on my HiAce van and im in the middle of sorting it out. Stumbled upon this video of yours and im taken away with your very frank explanations and down to earth comments about how it actually is and whats involved to get the diesel engines up and running nicely. I love good info and no BS! love it. keep it up and make more content. youre really good :)

    Wow....excellent video. Thank you very much for sharing. Came here trying to find a solution to bad diesel knock with a cold startup and under light load om my 2013 Hilux 1KD. 164.000km
    I’m getting some really bad rattles on cold startup under light load - from 1400 rpm through to 2000rpm, which then pretty much disappear once the engine warms.
    I’ve had a mechanic get the feedback values for the injectors hot and cold.
    These are
    COLD
    0.6, -0.2, -0.2 and -0.2 with an injection volume of 16.63
    HOT
    0.8, 0, -1.1, -0.2 with an injection volume of 6.52
    He said the injector values were well within spec but he could hear what he thought were injector noises. He said would be worth changing the injectors if keeping the vehicle long term.
    I couldn’t sell the vehicle with the cold start noises, they are most concerning, and not normal. Have had the truck for a while now and it has never been noisy like this in the distant past.
    Vehicle does not blow any smoke on startup or under load, and the fuel economy is same as it’s always been; between 600 - 800 km depending on city or country.
    Hard to find someone who knows a lot about these common rail systems so asking for any advice you can offer.
    Thanks

      Those spec's on the injectors seam fine , Has he done a Compression test ? You may have a piston issue ? , You could send the injectors for testing., SCV ?

    I’ve just done my 1KD motor at 150,000km. The difference being it has had a Provent 200 catch can fitted since new. There was soot around the EGR valve but a lot less than in this video, a lot less in the elbow and entrance to the inlet manifold. Low mileage of course, but the main difference is that the soot is dry and very friable and comes off easily, its not oil & soot mixed. Removing the oil vapour from the crankcase vent with the catch can makes a huge difference to the deposits.

    • @tomskimcdouglegaming806
      @tomskimcdouglegaming806 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You'll have no buildup if you eff the EGR off.

    • @SavedbyHim
      @SavedbyHim 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Deleting the egr is not as simple as it seems. The egr is only active at part throttle and if you delete or blank it off your fuelling will be incorrect. At full throttle the egr valve is closed meaning that you get no performance gains by deleting it as some believe.@@tomskimcdouglegaming806

    • @MC-jf6ic
      @MC-jf6ic 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not convincing, you should've cleaned it around the same mileage. Way its driven makes a difference as well. My point is, catch can are useless. As long as you have the egr, you'll have soot build up.

I also have a 76mm downpipe and exhuast as well as an egr delete. It feels much better power wise but in every gear when i try going over 2500-3000rpm it starts to stutter and doesnt push on. As i go into the next gear the same problem continues at 2000-3000rpm. Im really struggling to find the fault. Do you think it could be the map sensor or that the injectors werent done properly ?

    I feel my 2KD-FVT 2015 hilux (188k km's) is SLOW. Being at ~2600 kg, on flat ground a sprint from 0 to 100, pushing it, will take well over 22 seconds.
    I have a ODBII dongle installed and use an iOS app "car scanner" to be able to read some values while driving.
    my question: what is the highest MAP pressure in kPA i should measure on a stock 2KD-FVT ? I'm getting 221 kPA at max (which corresponds to 1.21 Calculated boost)

    • @flatoot
      @flatoot ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That boost pressure sounds good for a standard hilux. Take a look inside your inlet manifold for carbon build up, you might be surprised how bad it is. My hilux was just as bad as this video. I haven't put the car back together yet so can't comment on the improvement.

    (considering the car isn't driven much / small trips due to lockdown) Can you please advise whether it is the EGR which could possibly be causing this e.g. is the EGR and MAF linked?
