    If you know more shortcuts, reply with them to this comment.
    Note - I'll delete anything other than shortcuts 🤪

    • @waynemiller6070
      @waynemiller6070 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      M will give you a marker to label the sections of your song.
      Tab will take you to the next event in the track, for example if the part you want to work on is later in the song you can use 'Tab' to take you to the first event of that part.
      shift+g will take you directly to the start of your highlighted section.
      These shortcuts could be considered more for navigation than PRV but very useful even in PRV.

    I have had a difficult time transitioning from Sonar 6 to CWB. It has been a real struggle for me to figure some of this out to be able to get into a good work flow. This video is by far the most comprehensive and informative that I have seen on the Piano Roll View. So much gratitude for the work you put into it. I have learned a great deal.

    I've been using cakewalk since 1995, and I still learned several new midi tools that will be very useful (including being able to mute notes, being able to select a group of notes and make them all the same length, and having a different snap in the piano roll than the track view ). Thank you for packing so much information into one video!

In every section, I could follow along and then go on to my own songs and work on the techniques you showed. This is my second run-through watching this video. Lots of practical skills to be learned. Great video. One little tip I'd like to add. In case, you want to automate the volume expressively and more intricately with Spitfire Audio products, I'd recommend using the Dynamics, i.e, CC11. It's basically just volume of the sample, so the automation is more proficient. I believe it's also available in some Decent Sampler libraries as well.

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dynamics is CC1
      CC11 is for expression, which I did show in the video.
      I did test out CC1 with DS, and it did work. But trying two different MIDI was creating conflict in the knobs.
      Will try with CC11.

    Your channel is one of the many reasons I love that I stuck with Cakewalk. It's a monster of a DAW. I love how in depth this was.
    I'm wondering (and hoping) if there's a way to do vocal chops using the piano roll. I imagine using a sampler like Momentum and somehow taking that sample and mapping it onto the piano roll, but I haven't figured it out.
    Any idea?

    • @adk_studios

    Hello, Thank you so much for your in-depth detailed video series. My question is about working in Piano View - Is there a listing of all mouse/keyboard commands and shortcuts that I can use as a reference. The Support Documentation is very sparse, so I'm wondering where you learned about all the mouse/keyboard combinations?
    Thank you for any assistance. The alternative is to watch your video over and over and write them all down manually. Thanks!

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Some of the shortcuts are kinda common across many daws.
      Some, I figured out on my own.
      But, just before making the video, I did go through the Cakewalk reference guide to figure out all keyboard shortcuts, as I did not wanted to miss any before presenting it.
      Hope you make good use of the shortcuts 🙂

    Excellent video. You pack a lot of information into each video!
    One issue to consider when making future videos is many laptops have a non standard mouse. My (Dell) laptop has a trackpad with conductive area for mouse position and two buttons. I assume other laptop users may have similar issues.

      Mine is also a Dell laptop (Inspiron 3567), & is trackpad sucks!
      So, I use a desktop mouse.
      But yeah, I get your point.

    Excellent video! I was wondering if you know a way to easily edit velocity of certain beats in a measure. For example, if I have a drum track and I want to add a bit more velocity only to notes that land directly on the beat or to notes that are off beat by 1/8 note, etc, to help change the feel of the drum beat.

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm afraid that won't be possible. We have to select the notes that need editing

    • @christopherventer6391
      @christopherventer6391 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adk_studios I see. Although that's not so bad either I suppose. Just select the beats you want. Still, would be a cool feature to have a slider for different natural beat emphasis patterns or something.

    Amazing Tutorial! Can I ask please, is there a way to center the cursor while music is playing like in Ableton for example. It is very annoying to have the page jump every single time from the start. Thank you so much.

      This is something I too wish was there, but unfortunately its not possible in Cakewalk by Bandlab

    Amazingly helpful. How do you know all these shortcuts--just by experimenting? Thanks.

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some through experiments.
      Some through other softwares. Like, zoom and going around in timeline is almost quite similar across different softwares.
      Some from the CbB manual. bandlab.github.io/cakewalk/docs/Cakewalk%20Reference%20Guide.pdf

    Am a beginner and finding my way around the hard way and making progress. Your tutorial is perfect for beginners. I had a question though, I have a single note that is about 4 seconds. I would like to gradually increase the velocity from seconds 2 to 4. More like a build up. Can this be achieved?

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If its string-like, then use MIDI CC.
      But if its something plucky, like piano, then automation might be the way to go.
      You can find it in the playlist linked in this video's description.

      @@adk_studios did a little more digging and found out that BBC Orchestra's only negative point is that it won't let you control the velocity of a single note and remains constant 😕

    Wow! This is the most detailed video about Piano roll on Cakewalk! Thank you very much! Is possible to add a Aftertouch function by adding CC MIDI control for keyboard that are unable to generate it? Thank you!

    • @adk_studios

      Do you mean, if it is possible to record MIDI CC with keyboards hat do only have keys to play the notes?

      @@adk_studios I meant to create Aftertouch CC on a Piano Roll not on a music keyboard. Like you create with MIDI Velocity.

    Your tutorial is excellent. Is there a way to audition a chord while moving individual notes within the chord? Also, being able to see the "grayed out" notes of another track while editing, looks like a cool way of creating a new track which aligns harmonically to the first track. I'd love to see which of these commands and techniques apply to the staff view.
