    Why do you split the drums in different tracks for each drum instrument?
    I didn’t understand why you do it bro.

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      Lets say, we have all the drums (kick, snare, cymbals & toms) coming through one single track out.
      The problem here is that, whatever we do on that track will affect all of the drums. For instance, cymbals tend to be louder than the other drums. So, when we try to reduce its volume to balance it with the other drums, the volume of the other drums will also get reduced. Hence separate tracks needed.
      Lets take another example which deals with FX. Many times its good to have a little bit of room reverb effect on the drums. But the level of reverb needed for each of the drum instruments could be different. Like, its better to have more reverb on the snare, and little to none on the kick or toms. So, here again, we cannot do that if the reverb can only be inserted on one single track.
      Having separate tracks gives us more control, and its easier and faster to balance the sounds in the context of the whole project. This will eventually result in better sounding mixes.

      @@adk_studios well thanks for that I was kind of noticing, but your explanation makes everything more clear.
      It’s basically like microphoning each drum instruments, rather than one microphone for the whole drum. Idk haha but thanks. Because some plugins have better kicks or snares, etc than others.
      One time I saw someone take snare from one plugin, kick from another, and so on, and he added different effect on each one and different volumes. Now with your expo is clear.

    Just fantastic--very thorough and very useful. This is really useful even for non-beginners. Thanks so much for doing this.
    1 question: We're doing rock-style music, and I'm programming drum kits (I mostly use the free Steven Slate Drums for this). My engineer wants a mono track for each drum output, not stereo. Do you find any advantages for creating stereo audio?
    Thanks!

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many of the samples I use have stereo data in them.
      So, didn't want to lose them. That is why I always choose stereo.
      I did try switching kicks in my projects to mono, but it sounded a bit too boomy.
      That's is all I can say about it. Don't have that much of experience switching between mono & stereo during production

      @@adk_studios I'm currently doing everything from MIDI and most synths don't generate stereo.

    Hello from 2024 👋
    These tutorials are really really good, they've been wonderfully helpful to me as a beginner to all this. One question - where did you learn all this? I read through the entire 2000 page cakewalk manual but so much of what you're sharing isn't stated there. This is especially true for the apparently famous TTS-1 synth. Anyway, thank you 👏👏👏🤩

    Thanks a lot for this video, I learned everything from this video. You teach excellently.
    There is a problem. I want to put a sample for example Snare in Sitala and arrange its notes in Piano Roll, but it only gives me one note to arrange. I can't use other notes to create creative trap traps. This is possible in komplete Control, but not in Sitala and in SI dram. There is no solution for this problem? Can't we have a full piano roll for each sample in Sitala or SE Drum? So that we can root out creative and off-the-grid hats and traps?
    FL Studio's step sequencer allows this because it is a sampler by default.
    I wish there was a way to have a full piano loop for each of Sitala's samples...
    Also, I want you to make a complete video about sliding notes for us. I put an 808 sample note above the main note, but it doesn't slide.

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pretty much all the drum samplers that allow us to load multiple samples works like Sitala.
      As you mentioned, Komplete control, will let you do trap roll hats. Another option is grace sampler. We can even use vital as a sampler.
      With a little bit of tweaking grace and Vital can be used to make sliding 808s.

      @@adk_studios I spoke to the cake walk support
      I raised all these issues and problems
      Also a few other things
      For example, creating a separate piano roll for each sample step sequencer.
      They were very welcoming and promised to add these items in future updates.
      In order to slide the notes, you must select legato from the complete control. The problem is solved.
      Please continue your valuable cakewalk tutorials and leave us videos every week

    I believe there is an easier way to split the drum notes to individual tracks by using the CAL script "split note to tracks". I figure you already knew this but didn't include it for some reason.

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea...
      The reason is that there are multiple notes that can trigger the same drum.
      The notes are different for side stick & snare. But its the same snare drum.
      Likewise, the closed hi hat & open hi hat have are triggered by different notes. But they should be on the same track

    do u always hav to put your hi hats and kick on c5 everytime?

    • @adk_studios
      @adk_studios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends.
      In CbB, C5 is the note that triggers the sample as it is. If you go above that, the pitch will be increased (sample is played faster increasing its frequency) & if you go down the notes, pitch will also be decreased (sample is played slower decreasing it's frequency) . If you want the sample to sound as if is, its C5.
      I explain all these in the 4th episode of the series dedicated to samplers.

      @adk_studios  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is one way...
      However, keep in mind that the conversion can be really sensitive. Even the tiny bit of pitch variation might be considered during the conversion & it can create additional notes that we might not perceive as actual pitch.
      I would also suggest verifying it with an app in you phone. There are a lot of tuning plugins you can use for that. I use Vocal pitch monitor on my android phone
