  • How to use wella koleston perfect for #GrayCoverage service on white/grey hair from this #HairColorTutorial from Hairupideas. In this video we show you our chosen hair formula for rich brunette chocolate brown hair.
    For this service, we used Koleston Perfect brunette shades so discover the formulas and step by step instructions below.
    Formula - 20ml Koleston 6/7 + 20ml koleston 77/0 + 40ml 6% Welloxon developer.
    Step 1: Assess the distribution and % of gray hair. This will help you choose the right product and technique. Remember saturation and development time can ensure full coverage of white hair.
    Step 2: Apply colour mixture to hairline and throughout the partings of the the quarter sections you have created. We call it the hot cross bun section. Working through all the 4 sections apply colour swiftly to ensure even development time.
    Step 3: Development time 30-45 mins (45mins in this video due to client having 70% white hair)
    Step 5: Shampoo/Condition and style

    Hi, you did a fantastic job. For myself I really like the level and underlying tone but I find that the highlights are a little paste/purplish for me. What would you recommend for more of an ash brown highlight, or a subdued soft auburn highlight?

      No hi lights added to this colour it’s it’s natural fade as colour grows out. This is the look the client loves. In the Wella range I would suggest /1 range which is an ash tone or /73 for a more golden look. So maybe substitute the shades in this video for a mixture of any of the following 7/1,6/1,6/73,7/73,6/97,7/71or 7/38. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching

      @@hairupideas Thank you for replying! Have you used the new /02 shades especially 77/02? It's supposed to be extra cool for anti-brass effect. What shade would you recommend for a soft auburn?

      @@iseektruth yes I’ve used all the /02 range. Very good for a cooler shade. It depends starting point for advice in auburn. I also think perception of red hair is very different with each individual. Check out below it’s definitely worth a read.

    Hi, can you use that Wella color touch on dry hair? is so mixing 1.1 will that work so I get a more intense color? thank you for your help

      This video shows Wella Koleston Perfect which is a permanent hair colour. Colour touch is a different product in the colour range and should be mixed 1:2 ratio. You can apply to dry hair and use 4% developer for a more intense colour.You may want to take a look at colour touch plus for extra coverage. Thanks for watching

    With highly porous hair, would you reduce the processing time to prevent the colour becoming too dark and dull?

      Depends what your starting pony is. For full coverage of white hair i would definitely stick to 30mins minimum. This is just my advice for covering the root area

    Hi, I tried the 88/07 Color Touch Plus on my roots and I didn't notice any difference. My friend who is a stylist told me to try 77/03 or 77/07 because it's a shade darker and should give better coverage. Is this true? I want to keep my natural color of dirty blonde, but I was also told I should pick a cooler demi permanent because it will match best with my few grays coming in. Do you agree? Can you suggest color combos for me too (like you did for another person a few months ago). Thanks!

    • @hairupideas

      I’ve not used Colour Touch plus in a very long time. As you are not in my chair I don’t know what colour your hair is it’s very hard to suggest a colour. Dirty blonde can conjure up so many different shades and us hairdressers have a different colour perspective (we don’t all see colour the same) So what I can suggest is 88/07 is not a dirty blonde base i personally would see this as a lighter blonde base so you won’t get much change in colour(by change I think you mean cover white ) as you said you like your natural colour so I’m thinking the only reason your adding hair tint is to cover white. So I probably would suggest the same as your hairdresser friend. Drop down a shade. I would go for Color Touch 7/0 +7/1 4% developer as this is the range I know. This is a cooler/ash look. Hope all that helps. Good luck 😉 Thanks for watching

    Hello
    Can i get an advise i do have extra long hair till my belly.
    Have natural hair with 30%of grey a medium brown.
    Want to use to roots koleston 6/0+6/97
    Lenght 8/38+8/97
    I dont know how much should mix and which developer to use.

    • @hairupideas
      @hairupideas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ratio is 1.1 developer to colour. If you are just colouring roots then try mixing 30ml (1/2 tube) of colour in total to 30 ml developer. If you way it in a scales go 30g of colour to 30g of developer. You can always mix more if needed. Go for 6% developer for roots and mid lengths and ends I would opt for a Color touch semi rather than Koleston permanent . Ratio for that is 1.2 so it’s double developer. My choice would be 1.9% strength. So 30ml colour to 60ml of developer. Hope this helps. Good luck and thanks for watching

      Make sure to use 30% of the natural or pure series (same level as desired level) plus 70% of whatever your desired level/tone.

    Why not 7/7 and 77/0?

    • @hairupideas
      @hairupideas  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It wouldn’t have matched ends as it would have been a totally different formula to previous colour. Therefore roots would have appeared lighter than mid lengths and ends. This colour formula used on many colouring sessions so no need to change.
