All headphones that have a mic switch to HFP to be used as a 2-way connection but audio quality is severely hampered making all audio sound like its coming through a phone call. That's the reasoning for the external mic as I understand, so you still get the benefit of the high quality audio
I haven't tested mine out yet, but it's frustrating that the dongle doesn't even use the mic on the bluetooth headset, it's a bummer because I have a good quality mic on my headset, but people constantly hear the sounds of my controller because of the dongle forcing us to use the mic provided to be attached to the controller.

The right thing what need to do so it's turn on any headphone/earphone in pair mode, acualy no matter what firts switch on or USB button or pair mode on earphone/headphone its gonna work fine. After pair mode when connected USB bluetooth and yours headphones, when put the dongle in to controller. After that go to settings on ps menus, device/audio and have to choose USB audio. For me was the same or I couldn't to connect it and thought that dongle don't work anymore. Just need properly connect between everything. Sorry for my English. Peace

It will I just connected mine. If you have a computer pair the dongle and headset on a PC. Then move the dongle to the PS4. Don't put the mic dongle into the controller.fo after you connect everything.
