Today we are in the cradle of civilization in Europe, Knossos, an ancient city with a mythical backstory. Crete is a wonderful place to travel if you love history, and I'm happy to be starting my Greek adventures here.

I really enjoyed my week in Heraklion back in the end of June. Knossos was super interesting. I’m heading back to Europe on thanks giving and I’m going to work my way from London through Italy in December and be in Cairo for New Years. If our itineraries cross we should meet up.
quick note: I have been into history for the last 25 years and this story is not the real history of early greek people.

Until Knossos, everything in the arts concerned ONLY 2 persons : the strongest power in the sky --> the God and the highest authority on earth, his representant, --> the King !!
Buuut ......on Kreta (Kriti) for the FIRST TIME something changed !!!! EVERYDAY LIFE APPEARED !!!!! We see flowers, swallows, dolphins, monkeys, a young fisherman,
2 boys boxing with each other, topless girls. So, the artists DO NOT FOCUS ONLY to the GOD + the KING , but to the DAILY JOY OF LIFE !!!!!!
Remember : Egypt, Assyrien, Persien, China..... all Great Zivilisations, BUT everything describes the glory of God + King . NOTHING MORE !!!! The simple people did not exist !!!!
UNTIL the MINOANS !!!!! One more uniqueness that happened here !!
