I’m seeing these comments ALL over TH-cam. TH-cam is massively downgrading videos by default, ostensibly to save money. On some videos the highest quality you see at first is 720p, and you have to click to a *second* menu to even see 1080p as an option.
Another insidious change is that some 1080p videos legit look like 540p even when ‘1080p’ is selected, but when you go to the quality menu you can choose ‘1080p - Enhanced bitrate’ … IF you sign up for a TH-cam membership. I know for a fact that some of the videos I watched were fine a couple weeks ago, I went back to them now and the bitrate is a joke. The resolution doesn’t matter if they’re choking the bitrate down to 5-6 Mbps…. So infuriating.
