    For document size, I took the habit to double the size of the request size. That way you can always crop and resize when needed. What is important is to keep the height / width proportion of the canvas. So if I need a HD image, I will have a 4k document , keeping in mind the 16/9 ratio. It saved me a lot of time ! And if I forget... I just redo the image.

    You can also save as you go using the snapshot function

      Thank you. The snapshots are great and I already made a video on them. However i'm not sure that they will save everything if you do bigger changes, like for example experiment with diferent assets in your file. I should test that

    I do mistake #4 constantly and always have to hunt down the assets I use. Never thought of creating a folder for each project and add the assets used to it! I am organizing today so things can be found in the future! Thanks for the advice.

      You are welcome. I'm still learning myself in this regard. In the past I made subfolders for the different file types and sources. now I just throw anything i can in there, because it's pretty obvious what is what anyways :)

    Thanks for reminding me of the layer tabs where i can do non-destructive changes! One other thing I do is "save history" with all my projects. That way, if I get something done, but then later decide to try another method, I can roll back history. With that, I also do the added safety thing of duping the affinity project as a 'B" then roll back the duplicate's history were I can now try another method. All the while the original project is left untouched on my media drive. Thanks, again, Olivio!

      Thank you. Rolling back the history is great, but it also undoes everything you did until that point. Since most people usually work an different parts of their photo at the same time, it's pretty hard to tell what else was removed from which area. That's why I find them a bit hard to use.

    1) too low resolution of document / canvas
    2) too low resolution of assets
    3) working destructively ie. create new layers for brushwork, use masks instead of eraser, use adjustment layers, live filters and layer effects where possible instead
    4) failure to backup your assets in their original states
    5) deleting the Affinity Photo file, and failing to make versions as you work ie. Save As... a version numbered file

    Well, I always find it tricky to find good asset for what i want… especially background in good resolution is tricky
    Any recommendations where to get good quality assets that are free to use for various purposes?

    i almost feel like you release exactly what im workin on. lol. this past week ive been trying to figure af aster way to get accurate and flaterring skin tones/ colours in my edits without tinkering with the selective colour or HSL too much through using blendmodes on the original pixel layer with some overlay and blendmodes of curves. sure enough you release a course that probably covers a good technique to do it. lol

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't say this course is for skin tones. To be honest, i have avoided the skin tone topic so far, because I usually work with artistic colors, meaning think any tone that fits my work is the right tone. So my concept is different from the "model retouch" idea of "correct skin tone". However, I can tell you that in the Vectorscope in AP there is a Skin tone line (it points at around 11 a clock, if you know what i mean) and that is where usually "correct skin tone" can be found. But don't quote me on that, because that's not really the way i work with photos ;)

    How do you save assets in another folder. Is there a way to bundle them from affinity photo, or do you need to save them another way?

    • @OlivioSarikas
      @OlivioSarikas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, sorry, i should have explained that better. What i mean is, that you should collect them in the project folder before you import them into your affinity photo project. I often even copy files from one folder to the next, just so they are with the project later when i need it. Because i might one day delete the folder where i got that asset from (like when i download a zip with a collection of files in it)
