Regardless of the tough guy macho man persona the Doc puts on, everyone who knows him personally has consistently vouched for his down to earth character and flawless integrity. It's possible that he did this to stop a blackmail attempt or to soften the blow of his wife or the other woman from announcing it...but honestly I just don't see it. He could have just as easily responded to any allegations in this same manner to save just as much face. The difference of outcome had he brought it to light first or not, in my eyes, is negligible.

I believe he 100% did this on his own accord - for his own sanity's sake. Regardless of the tough guy macho man persona the Doc puts on, everyone who knows him personally has consistently vouched for his down to earth character and flawless integrity.
It's possible that he did this to stop a blackmail attempt or to soften the blow of his wife or the other woman from announcing it...but honestly I just don't see it.
He could have just as easily responded to any allegations in this same manner to save just as much face. The difference of outcome had he brought it to light first or not, in my eyes, is negligible.
It's more likely that he thinks one of the women he cheated with could come forward and expose him, so he beat them to the punch and this is him letting those women who he cheated with know that his wife knows...

Rich, normally people do this because the other party (not the wife or husband) is trying to extort them. I despise chatting as well, but I've known so many people that cheated and came to work and ran a normal life I realized at a young age that their personal life doesn't concern me.
