Song’s speed + high register + yodeling + breathing control, and this young girl just killed it. I’m impressed too, not everyone can do it and I’m not even counting the pressure of being in an audition.

There's a video of her at 12 singing for someone who signed her guitar. They mentioned she had only had ten lessons on guitar. She was great even then. Super strong voice.
The best part of this video for me is her family crying in joy. They KNEW she was good. But they lived in the middle of nowhere, likey with limited resources. Them making the trip and effort to let her audition shows that they had total confidence in her. The reaction to her victory was vindication, as well as joy. That's a good family.
I looked up Foley and it's tiny. Only 161 people BUT it is just north of St Louis. I put it in Google Maps from my apartment in south city St Louis and it's only 1hr away from me and only 20 minutes from the very populated St Charles county suburbs.
This never fails to make me cry. The talent, her nod when Reba turns around, dad crying, sister who is a polar opposite being incredibly supportive and crying, dad yelling “I told you”. Ugh, unmatched
The other thing I noticed was how intently John Legend was listening and it was as if. the second time she hit those high notes consecutively, he was sold on her.
Could the two daughters be anymore different from each other??? And you can tell the parents love each of them unconditionally. Fantastic supportive family!
All I know is if Reba McEntire put her arm around me and said “cmon let’s go have a tater tot” I’d believe I already won life and was in heaven. Ruby’s voice fills your heart!! Reba + Ruby Leigh = a perfect duo.
I LOVE the moment at 0:35 where Ruby goes still and stares at the back of Reba's chair as she launches into an epic yodel run, a siren call urging Reba to turn, and then the nod of satisfaction when the chair moves round. Brilliant.

It's amazing how different children from the same family, are so different in everyway. I like that they are so different, it's neat to see. An this young lady is amazing. She is still a kid, and she has a voice, and control of someone three times her age.
That last section/arrangement of yodelling from 1:29 to 1:33 I have listened to more times than I want to admit! The vocal control, breathing, power and range is BEYOND! That can not be taught! You either have the ability or you don't! She could win this show if they do not try to change her and let her stick to Western Country which is clearly what she does best!!

I ran lights and sound for one of her performances today and she should just like this in real life. Her whole family is also the most sweet people you will ever meet.
Her intonation is ridiculously good! Her technique is phenomenal! She is as close to perfectly in the center of those high notes as she can be. Then, those yodels just send chills to my body. Her voice is as sharp as a knife and it really pierced right through! She’s a beast!
Finally some real old singing, we get surprised now and then, Sierra Ferrell comes to mind.. Most people don't even understand this music, let alone more of the cowboy copas like genre of country music. She has some Patsy Cline warm resonance at the summary phrases of the lines. I am very impressed. Handle that Carry Underwood....

Look at how much fun she brought to the room!! Everyone was clapping along and bouncing in their chairs! Her voice was flawless and her energy was contagious! If she can keep it up, she'll win this competition. Either way, she will be recording her own records and singing at the Grand Ole Opry soon enough. Reba surely will see to that. Her voice is so pure. Reality television is good for *some* things. I get to stand here in Harlem and listen to this young woman's powerful, and yes, piercing voice. When she hit that delayed tempo yodel I was like yeah she got sun special. I watch the show for the soul/R&B singers almost exclusively but this audition was SO DOPE. Excited to see what else she can do this season
I had the opportunity to hear her sing at an open mic night in St. Charles, MO, when she was maybe 13. She sang this song which was impressive, and followed it up with an REO Speedwagon song which I rather enjoyed. I spoke with her Dad who was humble and committed to helping his daughter succeed. At the time, he spoke about getting Ruby to audition for the Voice, which seemed to be in the “dream” stage at the time. I am so thrilled to see that Ruby was able to make it on to that stage. Good things are in store…
I just had to watch this perfect and phenomenal audition again for the millionth time in celebration of Ruby Leigh announcing yesterday 4-26-24 that SHE WILL BE MAKING HER DEBUT ON THE GRAND OLE OPRY August 2, 2024!!!!!!! Being a musician and knowing the art performance. She is flawless her command of the song, her musicianship, tonation her style were incredible. I watch these types of shows all the time, and I’ve never seen anyone that is that flawless. I can’t stop watching this video.

Her intonation is ridiculously good! Her technique is phenomenal! She is as close to perfectly in the center of those high notes as she can be. Then, those yodels just send chills to my body. Her voice is as sharp as a knife and it really pierced right through! She’s a beast!
The way she handles her breathing is amazing, never ran out of air to complete the phrases of the song, even when it was going very fast

Finally some real old singing, we get surprised now and then, Sierra Ferrell comes to mind.. Most people don't even understand this music, let alone more of the cowboy copas like genre of country music. She has some Patsy Cline warm resonance at the summary phrases of the lines. I am very impressed. Handle that Carry Underwood....

Look at how much fun she brought to the room!! Everyone was clapping along and bouncing in their chairs! Her voice was flawless and her energy was contagious! If she can keep it up, she'll win this competition. Either way, she will be recording her own records and singing at the Grand Ole Opry soon enough. Reba surely will see to that. Her voice is so pure. Reality television is good for *some* things. I get to stand here in Harlem and listen to this young woman's powerful, and yes, piercing voice. It's doubtful that I would've heard something like this otherwise. Her talent is Undeniable. And only 16 years old. I hope she goes far. I've listened to this 3 times already. Her voice makes me happy.

I had the opportunity to hear her sing at an open mic night in St. Charles, MO, when she was maybe 13. She sang this song which was impressive, and followed it up with an REO Speedwagon song which I rather enjoyed. I spoke with her Dad who was humble and committed to helping his daughter succeed. At the time, he spoke about getting Ruby to audition for the Voice, which seemed to be in the “dream” stage at the time. I am so thrilled to see that Ruby was able to make it on to that stage. Good things are in store…
