The live footage in this segment was filmed at a Mavericks show at Stephen Talkhouse on Miami Beach. I was there, as were the members of the band REM who were recording at Critera Studios, and Trisha Yearwood, who was married to Robert Reynolds at the time. Trisha got up onstage in her street clothes and sang several duets with Raul and his guitar. They sang Eddy Arnold's "Make The World Go Away", my father's favorite song, and I still feel the goose bumps today. Thank you Rich Ulloa for your kindness and passion for music over the years; I'm so glad to discover your channel. Your friend Chuck Swierczynski
"Maverick musicians are rarely tolerated"? Well I've never had any trouble tolerating The Mavericks. Matter of fact, they're a great band. And highly tolerable. Raul Malo is one of the greatest singers of our time!
There are a lot of band and a lot of singers, but there is only on Maverick Band and only one singer, Raul Malo, I am sold on them, I listen to their music 95% of the time.
@@susanadvance9181 Me too Susan. I have tons of music on my iPhone, but mostly listen to either the Mavericks..or Raul solo. If people only knew what they're missing if they haven't ever been to a Mavericks show.
I agree that Raul is the best singer of the past 25 years I also wish he would rely on other songwriters. His writing is levels below his singing. Sadly I believe that is why he isn't more widely know. I think the avg music listener can tell you who Elvis or Roy is I don't think they know who Raul is and that's because their aren't songs that most people know.
Their album "What A Crying Shame" was produced by Don Cook. I understand Don Cook is also a songwriter and was one of Keith Whitley's favorite songwriters.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BEGINNING AND THE MAVERICKS ARE STILL GOING. STRONGE!
Raul Malo is a powerhouse!
THE BEST BAND!!
HANDSOME, GORGEOUS GUY!

From what I understand, Raul Malo hated disco. I'd be lying if I said I blamed him! Haha!
