The story behind the Odyssey 2-ball putter is an interesting one. Back in the 1970's Dave Pelz was searching for the best putter head design to make aiming easier. He eventually consulted with optical experts from the University of Maryland. Based on their knowledge of how the human eye sees things led Dave to design a 3-ball putter which eventually morphed into the 2-ball version we have today. Pelz's book 'Putt Like the Pros' has the full story and is one of the most interesting I have ever read.
Love you, Petey, you're a gentleman and a scholar and funny to boot. That said, IMO, your problem with putting is that you keep dodging and weaving with putters. You have to stick with one that's comfortable and inspires some confidence -- you've had at least a few of those since I've watched you (about 5 or 6 years) -- and then stick with it, thick and thin. No one putter is "better" than any other. Once you have one that works a majority of the time, you start to realize that, in automobile terms, "It's the driver, not the car." You have good days and bad with your stroke and the greens and the looks you get, etc, but once you have ONE tool, you start to gain consistency and FEEL.
I still use my Odyssey sharp shooter that I bought about 15 years ago. I absolutely love everything about that Putter. I slap a new grip on it About Every other year And it's good to go. I see no reason to Change putters when it's been working so well for so long.
I have a black white hot 2 ball and it's absolutely buzzin buzzin I've had the thing forever and it's just money, absolutely love it! The weight, the softness of the insert, the nice clicking sound.
Good luck with the new putter Pete! Nostalgia does have me thinking you were one of the best putters on YT when you had the LAB bottle opener though! .
I recently bought a new putter. Not because I'm good enough to know the difference, but because I wanted it. It's a center shaft never compromise sub 30 s2 and I love it. Much better feel and weight than my pewter old one.
I love the blade putters and really wish I could use one, even just for more s room in my bag, but I also I need a mallet. I have finally found and fell in love with the odyssey Rosie. And it has amazed it 2 seasons! That is like dog years in my bag!
Nice choice! A while back I got myself a refurb white ice 2 ball with the line (from factory, not some schmuck with a sharpie) and I can say with confidence it has definitely changed my putting game for the better. Wish you all the best with the new toy!👍
I've been watching you FORE many years now and you should have more than FORE MILLION subscribers for how awesome your content is! I haven't Golfed FORE FORE years now, so have a lot of your TH-cam videos to watch! Course VLOGS are always my favorite and of course every time you beet Rick as well!
Hey Peter, nice choice with the mallet, I have just switched to the taylormade spider tour with the lovely white guideline and the difference it has made to my game is sublime. Still need so much more practice though ;-)
went through the same thing not that long ago. Found the feel and forgiveness of the Bettinardi won out for me. Ended up with the Queen B 14, as it fit best with my slight arc of a putting stroke. I just looked and GolfBidder doesn't seem to have any Bettinardi in stock. Such a shame.
Great choice Pete. I've got an original 2 ball I bought from golfbidder a couple of years ago when I picked up the game. Got a nice superstoke grip on it too and I love it. Wish the person holding the putter was slightly better though...
I must be one of the few people that have always hated the look of the two ball putter design since it came out all those years ago, yet cannot argue with the results it has given, to all those same people. It’s interesting both your finalists had the same shaft option. And both were Odyssey putters. Great video & thought provoking. 🍻
I used the Black faced OG back in the Day. I used it for Winters here in Wales, when the Greens got slow. I always wanted the White Hot for the Summer time. You have to give the Club more than a Year though. A Putter is like a Snooker Cue, it takes Years to build confidence and Consistency.
Good video Pete , why anyone buys new putters is beyond me , thousands available at reasonable money , and you send them back if it's not for you , winner winner
Interesting that the Scotty you tried was a Newport 3. It looks like a Del Mar design to me. I have one but mine doesn’t have an insert in the face. Just milled metal. The insert is an earlier version. I’ve been looking at the new Super Select Del Mar which has a double milled face, but at almost $450, I may keep looking. lol
Awesome upload Pete, I have love my white hot 2 ball putter for many years now, for a while I even got a custom made broom handle one, which helped me through bad back times, but I hated carrying it in my bag sticking out 4 feet from the top lol 🙂
Have not played since 2006, following spinal surgery. Having said that, my club pro at the time told me to throw my putter in the skip and buy an Odessey 2 spot. Well I did as I was told, and dropped from a 24 handicap to 14, in 3 rounds. Fantastic putter. Play well, and great content Peter. Cheers.👍
Pete you did a similar thing last year and you never used the putter that you ended up with in the video. You change your putters more than you underpants.
Great video, just out of curiosity how come you didn’t try an armlock…..I swapped to armlock a couple of years ago and it has made me a lot more comfortable over shorter putts
I ditched my 2 ball this year and following a putter fitting I ended up with a LAB Directed Force putter. It’s a masterpiece. Pete, as one of the previous comments said you putted well with the LAB. Did you consider it at all?
Hey Peter Finch. I like the way you grabbed a barrage of putters giving them a chance to surprise you but you only went with the top named brands. Where is the. Cleveland's Wilson's Even the Cobra's Please give the Cleveland frontline range ago. Best blind test I have ever seen 😂
You can't beat Odyssey. Still playing with a DualForce 550 after many years and the feel is just exquisite. It instils the confidence I need. Have been sniffing around the Ping Kushin 4 recently (one eye on) - don't tell my DualForce though. 🤫
I think there is a cult following with these 2 ball white hot putters. I got my original edition 15 years ago. Cant ever see myself taking it out of the bag. Tried many but it’s one of the best putters ever made.
Can’t go wrong with a 2-ball. I had the original 2 ball white hot but changed to an O-Works with the micro hinge face which I found to be softer and give me more control. However your 2 ball has come out since then so May be softer still..
Hi Peter, I like your channel and I like the content you put out from week to week. However, just like Golf Bidder in the UK, I think you should do the USA version with 2nd Swing that provide the same service the next you are there.
Sorry Pete. I think you missed several keys in choosing a putter. You never even mentioned stroke type - straight, slight arc or big arc and how neck design and face balance play into your choices. Next decide between blade vs mallet. Then pick a weight that helps your distance control. Grip style/size also play a big part of how you grip the putter. Did you have a max price? What is the worst acceptable condition you'll accept for a used club? Only after answering those questions should you be picking actual putters. And why did you pick 4 putters you didn't like the looks of? Those should never have made it out of the warehouse.
Pete. The first 4 eliminated feel like it was purely an ad for golf bidder. I know it all is but looks could have been selected in the warehouse. Can you please do something where you play with different length putters. I was the first of my group to go to a 36inch and have led the change for everyone as it feels better than a 34. Lastly I gotta say I was expecting a bettinardi or an evenroll. One of your videos a couple years ago led me to a er5 black and I have loved it ever since. Feels like it’s been a while since they were mentioned on the channel
I have quite a few of those putters including that same Scotty Cameron Select Newport 3 and it’s by far my favorite of them. I have other Scotty Cameron’s I like a little better but it’s definitely one of my favorites.
I'm not so keen on golf bidder now. Purchased a combo set of Mizuno 900 for 450 quid 4-pw project X rifle shafts but 7 iron was a project X lz shaft never got on with them so they got left in spare room for a year. Went to affordable golf who partner with golfbidder and got offered 170 store credit which given I paid money for em is a bit lame, they then refused to take them because the 7 iron would have a different swing weight. Happy to quite literally shaft you for the cash but no so keen to buy they're own s*** back.

Just got one two years ago and it helps a lot. Not just alignment but that soft feel off the face is just wonderful. Thanks Pete

Love the 2-ball! I have used one for about 20 years. Great video.
Highly recommend Triple Track Chrome Soft, Pete. Very easy to line up short putts!
I still use my Odyssey sharp shooter that I bought about 15 years ago. I absolutely love everything about that Putter. I slap a new grip on it About Every other year And it's good to go. I see no reason to Change putters when it's been working so well for so long.

Great vlog. You lucky man being able to go into the warehouse, net you were in there for hours! The golfing gods have spoken. Fingers crossed 🤞
Editing is getting better with every video. More jokes and fun edits as well. My compliments to the editor(s) :)

Still use the original 2 ball. Never found a putter yet! Had it re-gripped. Great choice Pete.
“The Guys input” and the blindfold test japes were brilliant!
Pete, you need a Ping Anser - Not just any Ping putter, but the 1968-1973 version. It'll change everything
Pete, I feel you definitely putted best with your LAB putter ! 🤔
Agreed!
I was thinking the same thing. LAB and the trusty claw grip... aahh the good ole days
@@theshortgolfer8687 Definitely 👍
Agree
Nice choice! A while back I got myself a refurb white ice 2 ball with the line (from factory, not some schmuck with a sharpie) and I can say with confidence it has definitely changed my putting game for the better. Wish you all the best with the new toy!👍
Great choice Peter. I love my 2 ball White Hot original. Feels so good.
Great choice! I've literally put the exact putter in my bag a few weeks ago never put so well in my life!!
I've been watching you FORE many years now and you should have more than FORE MILLION subscribers for how awesome your content is! I haven't Golfed FORE FORE years now, so have a lot of your TH-cam videos to watch! Course VLOGS are always my favorite and of course every time you beet Rick as well!
my putter right now is a center shafted 2 ball white hot xg with a super stroke grip. absolutely love it.
Need the golf bidders fellas to set up a shop in North America. Always jealous of these videos. Great content, peter!
so funny video!! Loved the part with the girls. Great choise of putter!

I have the putter in the thumbnail. Absolutely love it!
Hi Peter I have the odyssey white hot XG #6 putter for over ten years I just love it good luck with your new putter mate
I must be one of the few people that have always hated the look of the two ball putter design since it came out all those years ago, yet cannot argue with the results it has given, to all those same people.
It’s interesting both your finalists had the same shaft option. And both were Odyssey putters.
Great video & thought provoking. 🍻
The Willy Wonka part has done me 🤣🤣🤣
I spat tea everywhere after that bit 😂
I have the tri hot 5k in a double wide and I love it. Feels fantastic and tons of forgiveness overall never mind for a blade style.
I have a 2 ball mid I bought when I first started golfing. Was always told I was a natural putter but it was truly just good alignment lol
The 2-ball is such a classic! Hope it brings you many birdies
I loved my 2 Ball so much, i got a Triple Track 2 Ball Ten last year and am using Triple Track Chromesoft balls too.
Absolutely quality on the Wonka part. Sounds like Kieran 🧐 Great video again. Need more pod episodes
I use the same putter and it's never let me down, I've let the putter down many times though. By far my favourite flat stick!
ending up on reddish vale after those beautiful courses must be a tough pill to swallow 🤣🤣
Gemma Collins 😂 Pete your the best don’t change mate
Good choice on the OG 2-ball. Best of luck with your putting this year!
Why thank you
What a professional video this is 👏🏻👏🏻
Can't go wrong with an Odyssey 2-ball. I have an original series one in my closet that goes back in the bag anytime my putting gets dodgy!
Good video Pete , why anyone buys new putters is beyond me , thousands available at reasonable money , and you send them back if it's not for you , winner winner
Can't go wrong with the Newport 3! Shelve all the others! Carry on

"I am choosing my life partner for the next year" 😂😂😂 instant classic Peter Finch quote...
Smashed it out again fella. Team Finch on fire with this video!
I’d say you chose well.
Not even kidding, I put my old 2 ball back in the bag last week. I bet it's 20 yrs old. Still awesome
Cheers.👍
Mizuno M-Craft IV - can’t beat it. 3,8 and 13 gram interchangeable weights. Best thing I’ve ever used
I have a two ball white hot in the bag. If only Rick had given you this in the Golfbidder Challenge. 😊
Great choice. Surprised you didn't try a Odyssey #7 white hot.
Pete, if you don't need your LAB putter or your Envinrol you could always send one to me here in Australia
Did you try other Odyssey putters? The feel between them is very similar so wasn't sure if the double white design just fit your eye best
The reaction to centre shafted putters got me 😂
So much for the fitted SIK and Lab putters
I’m currently using a TM Spider EX I’m place of my Evnroll ER2. Would be interesting to see how you go with an Evnroll mallet
Love how doom guy sound board was put in for the centre shaft gag.
My previous was a 2-ball mallet...now it's the newer tr-metal.
Another great vid Pete 👍🏼
2ball. A recent classic and for a good reason. My brother uses a 2 ball and he is a good putter. Good luck. I’m a Spider guy.
I play an odyssey centre shafted putter and it's transformed my putting. I feel its almost impossible to not hit the centre of the face.

Cleveland's

Please give the Cleveland frontline range ago.
If u like blade look but need mallet help the double wide is worth a look. Almost every brand does one.
I think there is a cult following with these 2 ball white hot putters. I got my original edition 15 years ago. Cant ever see myself taking it out of the bag. Tried many but it’s one of the best putters ever made.
I would think the most forgiving putter was the DF2.1 you had in the bag last year.
Can’t go wrong with a 2-ball. I had the original 2 ball white hot but changed to an O-Works with the micro hinge face which I found to be softer and give me more control. However your 2 ball has come out since then so May be softer still..
That’s the putter I’ve wanted for a while now .👍🏻

Scotty Cam futura 6m, Odyssey No7, Taylormade Spider tour mallet black like the one you had. These are the only putters you ever need
I'm surprised you didn't pick a spider with an alignment line for your test instead of the all black. But the two ball is a great putter
Agree 100% Each putter only have a certain amount of makes then it needs replaced
I would love to see you try the LAB Links1 putter. Review please! 🙏
So happy you picked that putter!😂
Top editing!! Very funny.
Hi Peter, I like your channel and I like the content you put out from week to week. However, just like Golf Bidder in the UK, I think you should do the USA version with 2nd Swing that provide the same service the next you are there.

Great choice. Love my putter
I highly recommend all my Slazenger brass putters. You would have just as much luck with those.
How many putters do you need? We have to get better with what we have. You have a different putter every video (seems like it at least).
I love how the Dustin Johnson black spider makes you feel like Jason Day, who had the red version 😅
I use the 2 ball dfx and love it
This guy is so underrated
Very true
Don’t worry Peter the World will one day see your talents and the amazing content you make and let me tell you that day isn’t far ❤️
I miss my rossi II white-hot. never had one with that kind of feel off the face before!

I try to use a different putter every chance I get but for some reason I always default back to my Scotty Special Select Newport 2.
Awesome putt Jenny!
