I have had the 2022 Trail Honda for about 5 months. I am not a hardcore trail rider. Sometimes my two adult kids come too. for a ride that accommodates us comfortably, I haven't found anything to complain about, it has been dependable and fun to use. I will be adding the " camso" track system to get some winter use out of the unit. Review to follow.
I just drove a Honda pioneer 1000 5 seater at Winchester bay Oregon for the first time and loved it. I have 2 boys that sat in the back and a 5 year old girl that sat up front with mom and dad. Fun for a family of 5. Now I want to buy one !!!!!!!!
Good review, and I add the remarks of the mechanics who have to work on them when they come in the shop. Even just accessories can get to be a nightmare on some brands and models.Since we work on all major brands we get a good cross section and see the path of doom some guys take. Their "macho" mods cause breakage and breakdowns all the time, and then complain about how much they paid for the machine and then the aftermarket parts. Get the right machine from the beginning and don't try to "mod" it to compete with the big boys. Who weighs the tires before an upgrade? How much can the electrical system handle? At what point does a lift throw off the angle of the axles? If you're a man, people will see that, and if you promote yourself as a man, people will see through that.
Steve, it was great meeting you at that ride event! Very nice video as usual and yes I agree the Honda Pioneer 2022 model was a very capable machine! I hope to see you on the trails again buddy, take care thank you. Kapper
Nice review as always Steve. One thing I noticed is that on the high end models such as the Forest and Trail, Honda went back to traditional halogen reflector headlights instead of the LED projectors that the previous gen had. Seems like a step backwards.
You caught some of the Tennessee wildlife at the 10:16 ish mark lol. My brother has a Pioneer and it does a great job for him as a workhorse and fun machine. Thanks for the great videos
I have the 2022 Honda Pioneer Trail. It is everything that Steve has mentioned, and a little more. This is my first side-by-side. It is comfortable, powerful, and versatile.I use mine mainly for a hobby car, trail riding ( I live in Bancroft, On. ), and pleasure. Did I mention it goes pretty good too?
Yes great review as usual Steve. Rick, what dealership and when did you get yours? I’m waiting for the same model for about a year and a half now in southern ontario
That things bad ass. I wish someone would make a car / truck like this - obviously a lot safer and road worthy but I dont need 48 OLED screens, leather, fancy handles and knobs, etc etc.
Because texting and driving a car isn't stupid enough, let's do it on the trail, too! LOL. Much easier to install and use a radio (e.g., GMRS). We rarely use the rear seats - all but useless for more than a small amount of time unless you're hauling children or very small adults.
I love that this is a 5 seat machine that retains a dump bed. I also really like the looks In general, I'm getting sick of fixing my can am defender and thinking on switching but Hondas flag ship model only comes with 27" tires? No option to install anything larger becouse of low clearance and no foreward a arms? If Honda could put forward arms and 30" tires on the higher end pioneer model it would be a game changer and I would put my order in ASAP, also a fold down center council, these are industry standards they need to pick up on .
Which would increase the price of the higher end Pioneers by $3K to $4K or more. SIlly. Most don't want that, because most don't use a Pioneer for SERIOUS trail riding. Replacing A-Arms and tires & wheels is about as easy as loading a dishwasher. Takes me about 30 minutes per corner and basic hand tools.
Did you go through any deep water holes and if you did, did you notice any heat coming up through the seat? I have a 2016 and that is the only thing i don’t like about it. Otherwise it’s been a great, reliable machine and i trail ride it a lot.
I actually think I saw a review awhile back that Honda altered some things with heat shields and insulation to reduce the heat problem. I think if you check some forums you can find the info and apply the changes to your 2016.
@@TheNotimprezed They put those plastic panels in under the seat and it looks like they will fit and work in mine, checked with a Honda dealer and they said they list all years and i don’t think they changed anything in that area so if they really help i’m going to order a set. They come in 3 separate panels.
We have a 2021 limited. I with the would have stock with the Fox shocks on the forest edition. Self leveling is ok, but I love my Fox socks for any and all applications. I won’t upgrade for that reason🤷🏼♂️ not a fan of the trail edition look. I do like the storage options and power however.
Fox QS3 shocks for the win. Easy to R&R on any Pioneer that doesn't have them. Plus, you can add preload and gain significant ground clearance without a lift.
I'm between this and a CF Moto Uforce XL. I want to be able to take the whole family (wife, 3 kids). The CF Moto is about $7k cheaper but I like the Honda better with a shorter wheelbase and better clearance and breakover angles. Plus the Honda would probably be better for solo riding.
No way I would buy that CF moto. You most likely will have issues. Maybe the cf moto would make sense for someone who drives it around at home and is a back yard mechanic. Get that reliable honda that will hold its value.
I tested a cf motto and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. A complete piece of junk. It's not even close to being in the same league as the honda pioneer or yamaha viking
Why can't honda get new units to Montana? I'm getting my 10k deposit back after waiting months and the due date was pushed back again. This coming from a loyal Honda customer. Honda needs to get it figured out and make its own chips.
@@bobbybarnes1652 nothing was coming to Montana for some time. It wasn't just this dealer it was all of them. There was no inventory. I put 10 k down because I wanted to. It wasn't required for my order. I see dealers are now getting inventory.
How is the suspension on the Trail model compared to the other models? Is it a huge improvement? I've been looking to get an RMAX because of the suspension, but I really like the transmission and the turf mode in the Honda.
Trail has the Fox QS3 adjustable shocks, a huge improvement over stock, non-adjustable cushions. However, you can get any other model and install the Fox QS3 shocks yourself for under $1,400. I didn't want the i4WD, so I went with the Deluxe and swapped the shocks (and installed offset forward A-Arms and larger tires @ wheels).
I like that brake hold and I can see where it would be handy if you happened to be doing any kind of climbing 🧗♀️ in it and I’d like to see that feature on some other sxs ‘s as well
I wish Honda would come out with an extended bed version like the American Landmaster L7XL-Pro, not like the Polaris 6x6. Something made more for farming, hauling logs and such. Make it a Pioneer 1000 with a 5-6 ft bed, geared lower for work load etc.
@@Travide I priced out a Pioneer Trail Edition last Friday that was pretty loaded and they wanted $33,000 out the door. That’s about what I paid for my Subaru Cross Treck that is fully loaded. 😫
@@brucejensen3700 What do you mean "pretty loaded". You must have the dealer adding a bunch of crap. The 2023 Trail is $22,999 MSRP. Freight + Prep + doc fees should amount to maybe $1500 total. Where did you get $33,000? If you're paying $8,500 in sales tax, you need to MOVE! LOL.

Always glad to see another major Brand trying to take on John Deere and Kubota but this is no small matter in the UTV market...a market Tesla only now is entering. This is a massive market though with potential demand very large being an understatement...but at this price the need for Utility will be quite incredible indeed. Brand Loyalty in this Sector is dispositive.
The Pioneer isn't an attempt to take on John Deere or Kubota. Those are pure utility vehicles. None of them can do what the P1K does on the trails, but the P1K can do a bunch of what they do on the farm or ranch.
I just can't understand why people like these things. They cost so much money to buy and operate and have no practicality.Might as well get a kei truck instead, or buy an old single cab truck for much cheaper

Great vid - would love to see some more Pioneer 1000 content!
Has Honda solved the heat in the cab issue problem found on the earlier models?
Any SXS with a motor under the seat will have heat issues, but it's been slightly improved for the past few years.
Great machine now make more because I had to wait a year to get one. Step it up honda
How is the heat in the cab? I’ve heard in the past they were a bit hot wondered if they had worked on that.

All SXS have it. It's called 'your LEFT foot".
Stephen, I know you’ve ridden several model years prior to this. Is there a noticeable difference in the gearing for this year? Thank you, sir.
It jumps off the line harder than before, but that could just be the power increase. Transmission feels about the same I'd say.
