Green Lanterns are the ultimate special forces in the DC universe. When you have a broken ring hand and a lot of backup in a brawl, sometimes doing something crazy will amount to a favorable result.

Not all of it a lot of it is actually believable like Slade cutting green arrow's arrows so he won't be able to use them or overwhelming the green lantern or cutting hawkman or stopping zatanna a lot of that's believable
I love how Kyle never uses his powers when he needs to. Only when he can easily defuse a situation but dead ass tried hand to hand combat with Deathstroke. Dude could easily make a prison around him.. but decides having broken fingers is more effective
The stuff about "the average human uses 10% of their brain" has long since been proven hogwash. Interesting take but they're nerfing a lot of the JL to make this scene work. Also missing a lot of heavy hitters who Slade couldn't touch without some kind of gimmick device or such.
Completely agreed on the nerfing. Flash might be possible if this is young Wally post crisis, but I still have a hard time believing Wally wouldn't be wary of his sword after so many times fighting him with the Titans. Zatanna and Black Canary I can give the benefit of the doubt since he can rush forward to disable their ability to speak, and Green Arrow he often outclasses.... But that's it. Hawkman's Nth tech enhancements matches Slade's enhancements, Hackman may be weaker then Aquaman but he's still stronger then Slade. There is no super soldier formula Slade has that allows you to perceive Atom with your eyes. GL could of finished the fight by putting a cage around Deathstroke, and touching Kyle's ring with a strong will does not nullify the use of it.

So as soon as the tip of the sword would hit Wally's skin, he'd still be fast enough to evade it. But I guess they have to always nerf the Flashes for their opponents to even stand a slight chance

I'm not defending this comic, this was way after Wally became Flash so Slade should of been easy, I'm just saying Flashs' do have a canonical reason for not always having godly reflexes. In exchange for being faster then any speedster in Marvel (Marvel actually stated this, they had Barry visit the Marvel universe for a speed competition when he had amnesia when he was supposed to have died in Crisis, and win despite his lack of knowledge) but in exchange, a slower speedster like Quicksilver is always in his equivalent of flash time. Quicksilver is in a constant state of irritation cause everyone is speaking slow to him and he has to speak super slow as well. He has to focus to get his reflexes to human levels, the exact opposite of the Flash.( Bart was given the name Impulse because his norm was a little bit higher then most flash's, so regardless of his limits, he'd speed through conversations) My point is, something Wally and Barry CAN do isn't something they can always do with perfect consistency. They have to levy between reflexes of an average person and absolutely unbelievable speeds. And Flash has admitted they can hear normal speed words perfectly fine while moving at super speeds, so there are a lot of senses to control. So their superspeed is a lot like driving a car...it gets easier and easier to move with purpose the more experianced you are, but REACTing is still possible but difficult with countless gear shifts. .... Point is, in this situation, Slade has WAY more plot armor against Kyle then Wally. At least Flash's are known for falling for traps, Kyle could of literally created a bubble around Slade in a second at that would be it, and Slade is not one of the villains who could avoid such a thing.
Smartest thing that Kyle could have done: Create a rocket construct on Slade's back, send him to the stratosphere, then dismiss the construct. Most humiliating thing Kyle could have done: Have Slade beaten up by lawyer-friendly Street Fighter analogue constructs, finished by being sucked up, crunched, and spit out by a Kirby-esque construct. And have it all recorded and sent to the internet.

Whenever someone's favorite hero does a new feat they add it onto the list of things they can do. Superman punches reality, Spiderman carries buildings, the Flash does everything and can kill Superman, etc. But when a villain gets the better of heroes or Batman does some big feat suddenly its all plot armor. With rare exceptions like Captain America vs Spiderman where they make it a draw and both sides stroke each other off about how awesome and strong their guy is. It's fuggin comics, any actual fan should know that the power scalings often vary comic by comic. How strong anyone is really doesn't matter with all the timelines and multiversus and magic and other 30948 factors out there. Just whether or not the story is good. And if you judge that based only on how strong your guy is and whether they win....you're a shiety comic fan lol. Try to enjoy the ones where you hero is weakened and give them just as much benefit of the doubt as you do when your hero pulls some new skill or feat they've never done before.

They did kyle and flash so dirty here. Flash even in his basic speed so fast what bullets are just stuck in the air without moving, and here he can react to a sword. Hal was great defense what he was able to survive a atomic bomb, and kyle is not much weaker then him getting his fingers broke because of DS who glands lift 2 tons at the max
This goes to show how evil Slade was back in the days contrary how they try to portray him today. Here he was protecting Dr. Light who violated and killed who I think was Elongated Man's wife.
That was some hog wash if I ever seen it. He stabs the flash who can move faster than time cut through nth metal harness. Breaks a green lantern hand with the ring on it too much folks.
This scene is so beyond stupid it actually hurts. In close quarters, Slade has NO answer for a speedster. None. He doesn't process information fast enough. Nearly NO ONE does. Flash would have ended it. By the time the SIGNAL to detonate left his brain and reached his finger so he'd press the button to send the OTHER signal to the C4, Flash would have already punched him 100 times and slammed him into the wall. For crap and giggles, he could have taken the detonator apart and put the parts in a box, christmas wrapped and put it back in Slade's hand. Everything else that followed would have been moot. But these same characters fight and not only survive but WIN against characters with the strength and durability to destroy planets. This is stupid writing at it's finest.
I think it wouldve been a tad more realistic if slade used Equipment from Dr light, for example its ridiculous that Flash cant dodge his sword, but it makes sense that He couldnt dodge something light Based. Also, i dont know, GLs powers are also lightbased, no? Maybe it could disrupt the constructs or sth, makes the fight more even
Back where there are DC comics that used good? Remember Those Superheroes like Flash, Hal and Zatanna were supposed to be powerful but now here we are, they were treated like they street level or less.
DC comics has a long tradition of groups of superheroes/villains with superpowers holding the idiot ball whenever they fight a non-powered (or with limited powers) badass. This might be cool at first, but after a while it just becomes tedious.
I don't mind a train individual taking out to heroes. Just get creative with the weaknesses And don't make anybody an idiot. Limitations and losses. Are just as important to characters as abilities and Badass Brawls. It's a balance. Ignore the faster than light & invulnerability feats will yag
They should make a new archetype for heroes called “heel breaker” which is basically someone who inexplicably performs like a perfect speed run ONLY when fighting bad guys (plot armor becomes relative during hero vs hero fights, tho)

Because he is a hero in the DC universe and outside of a very few characters the morality with these guys is to not cause unneeded harm. Also if you follow the comic they explain in detail, because that hurts so very much and he wanted to hurt him not blind him.
@@hhgff778 I agree with your original post, its more effective because we're both thinking of this as a fight to the death and our lives would be in balance. He's a DC hero, outside of a very few characters and a very few writers, they don't do harm above what they need. (even here this comic is showing the JLA being uncharacteristic by jumping him after he is restrained, probably a show of frustration/anger of him handling them and the death of a family member). Its kinda like how Batman just shooting the joker in the head would be the smarter move but he doesn't because the "code" aka DC heroes can be boring at times because of this. Its why DC villains tend to have a bigger draw than marvel Villains because DC villains are "generally" the only fleshed-out character in the scene as the hero represents some grand ideal or heroic imagery. (edit - bigger draw in comics, not the films)
Slade was wearing Batman's plot armor. No way the Flash would get caught like that. No way a Green Lantern would just punch instead of a construct. Zatanna isn't limited to vocal spells. Green Arrow would have put some distance between him and Slade as his primary attack is ranged. Ugh, so much freakin nerfing!!!
The big problem I have here is the same problem I have with Batman: Deathstroke has been made impossibly competent. As many say throughout these comments, plot armor. There is no way in hell DS should see Flash coming. There are certain characters who have been grossly overpowered because it's "cool". At this point, when I see Slade, I roll my eyes and move on.
This is one of the darkest stories I think D.C. had ever done. It all comes down to Dr. Light raping Sue Dibney and promising to come after the families of the other heroes. The completely wiped his mind and turned him into a joke character, until he remembered....

Enough with the "people only use 10% of their brain" myth! Also, it looks like the Justice League members win in the end of the fight, so it is not really "humbling" as much as his plot armor failing in the end.
This is a really dark series of comics where Plastic Mans wife is murdered, hung to death, in the beginning. I'm certain in this comic slade did some chemical/emotional damage whatever to make him unravel like that. Its a good series, kinda heavy handed as DC does it but it was well done for that world.

Mutants are all busted, well not all but the omegas are absolutely, I mean recently in the Xmen comics Iceman helped terraform Mars. Plot armor going crazy
This scene is so beyond stupid it actually hurts. In close quarters, Slade has NO answer for a speedster. None. He doesn't process information fast enough. Nearly NO ONE does. Flash would have ended it. By the time the SIGNAL to detonate left his brain and reached his finger so he'd press the button to send the OTHER signal to the C4, Flash would have already punched him 100 times and slammed him into the wall. For crap and giggles, he could have taken the detonator apart and put the parts in a box, christmas wrapped and put it back in Slade's hand. Everything else that followed would have been moot.
But these same characters fight and not only survive but WIN against characters with the strength and durability to destroy planets.
This is stupid writing at it's finest.
And yet he ever thought to kill them.
I think it wouldve been a tad more realistic if slade used Equipment from Dr light, for example its ridiculous that Flash cant dodge his sword, but it makes sense that He couldnt dodge something light Based. Also, i dont know, GLs powers are also lightbased, no? Maybe it could disrupt the constructs or sth, makes the fight more even

Back where there are DC comics that used good? Remember Those Superheroes like Flash, Hal and Zatanna were supposed to be powerful but now here we are, they were treated like they street level or less.
DC comics has a long tradition of groups of superheroes/villains with superpowers holding the idiot ball whenever they fight a non-powered (or with limited powers) badass. This might be cool at first, but after a while it just becomes tedious.

They should make a new archetype for heroes called “heel breaker” which is basically someone who inexplicably performs like a perfect speed run ONLY when fighting bad guys (plot armor becomes relative during hero vs hero fights, tho)

Because he is a hero in the DC universe and outside of a very few characters the morality with these guys is to not cause unneeded harm. Also if you follow the comic they explain in detail, because that hurts so very much and he wanted to hurt him not blind him.

@@hhgff778 I agree with your original post, its more effective because we're both thinking of this as a fight to the death and our lives would be in balance. He's a DC hero, outside of a very few characters and a very few writers, they don't do harm above what they need. (even here this comic is showing the JLA being uncharacteristic by jumping him after he is restrained, probably a show of frustration/anger of him handling them and the death of a family member).
Its kinda like how Batman just shooting the joker in the head would be the smarter move but he doesn't because the "code" aka DC heroes can be boring at times because of this. Its why DC villains tend to have a bigger draw than marvel Villains because DC villains are "generally" the only fleshed-out character in the scene as the hero represents some grand ideal or heroic imagery. (edit - bigger draw in comics, not the films)
As much as I love seeing Slade respected most of this was pretty poorly written.
Slade was wearing Batman's plot armor. No way the Flash would get caught like that. No way a Green Lantern would just punch instead of a construct. Zatanna isn't limited to vocal spells. Green Arrow would have put some distance between him and Slade as his primary attack is ranged.

The big problem I have here is the same problem I have with Batman: Deathstroke has been made impossibly competent. As many say throughout these comments, plot armor. There is no way in hell DS should see Flash coming. There are certain characters who have been grossly overpowered because it's "cool". At this point, when I see Slade, I roll my eyes and move on.

This is a really dark series of comics where Plastic Mans wife is murdered, hung to death, in the beginning. I'm certain in this comic slade did some chemical/emotional damage whatever to make him unravel like that. Its a good series, kinda heavy handed as DC does it but it was well done for that world.

Batman can fight the god of war and compete the fact Slade had to fight a bunch of no ones is something not too impossible since killing is what he is best at after all. What makes less sense is that he left them all alive instead of permanently removing them from the fight.

The writer even puts elipses in comment blocks to show how they all reacted just flash was faster so his thing happened first (of course) and its a comic so it goes panel to panel not one giant open page etc. Also, yes with a different STORY a different STORY would happen. Thats what the word different means.
Great, you know the definition of “different”. Have you researched the definition of “stupid”? How long would it take for Deathstroke to hit the button to detonate the bombs, stab Flash, and then attack Zatana? He can do that before Green Arrow can say a one syllable word? But he’s not a speedster like the Flash? Then there is the fact that he leaps into the air to cut Hawkman’s wings off. He may be a a super-fast non-super-fast guy but even he is subject to the laws of physics. That means he then falls from the air at the rate of gravity. And in that time Green Arrow couldn’t loose the arrow he had nocked the whole time? And Green Lantern couldn’t build a cage around this guy? Like I said, the writing is pretty stupid.

@@robertibarra7774 Charge kinetic energy into items, often shown as him making playing cards into little explosions but the truth is he can do something like walk up to a building and lean against it turning a sky scraper into the words largest bomb. Against the JL maybe not so much but all he has to do is get close enough for contact and he could turn peoples cells into explosive charges. Mutants are all busted, well not all but the omegas are absolutely, I mean recently in the Xmen comics Iceman helped terraform Mars.
Then there is the telepaths, sure Martian Manhunter is the shit but he doesn't hold a candle to the Professor or Grey.

This was a truly devastating well written story and to this day U cannot understand why so many comic readers get bent out of shape over it. My only grip is Wally. It always annoys me how even guys like Slade can out manouver a man that can out pace bullets to an extent that they are suspended in mid air to him. Tat stabing manouver would LITERALLY be happening in slow motion to him. Other than that, epic writing
