One of my favourite episodes 🥰 poor Mike was just overwhelmed and heartbroken unable to manage the restaurant. He didn’t argue or scream at Gordon and took in his advice and the encouragement from his daughters. Proud of this guy.
This is truly a heartwarming episode - one of my favourites by far. Not only was I sympathizing with Mike after the loss of his father, I was rooting for him as he welcomed new changes out of love not only for his business, but out of love for his daughters, and his father. Although the restaurant wasn't doing well, all of his kids were amazing. Really nice to see them genuinely want the best for their father. I hope they are still all very close.
To all intents and purposes, Mike was still in a form of grief for his father. It is sad, but not that unusual, to see a second generation struggle after the loss of the patriarch or matriarch of a business. It is very sad to see someone as capable as Mike go downhill in this way. More so for his family of course. Gordon Ramsey's intervention (by invitation) is the kind of thing that people like Mike absolutely need to to help to move forward. In a perverse way, Mike's lack of caring is ironically a display of immense love for his late father.

This show tears me apart seeing these broken men. Really breaks my heart seeing how hard they try but it's too much and they need help so bad. Ty Ramsey, you're out here saving lives. 🙌
Mike's daughters really had maturity well beyond their years. There was no mention of a wife or girlfriend in Mike's life, and they probably had to grow up faster than they wanted to. You can see how much they love their dad; it really shows in this video.

I’m a seasoned line cook with ambitions of being a chef, I watch these a lot and it helps to keep my focus on what I’m doing, I’d kill to see him cook in person. I truly believe and know he’s a good person who is down to earth and kind, he works his ass off, and isn’t above any work in the kitchen . One thing I always notice in these shows is the respect any decent cook or chef has for him, I watched one where and Hispanic cook in LA quits on a busy night, drives away and then turns around because he didn’t want to come off as a quitter in front of Ramsay, he didn’t vibe with the owner, and was fed up, but he didn’t want to be that guy to Ramsay. He’s a great chef and I hope to meet him one day. I will be a chef one day and I appreciate under one I respect and one that treats me right. It’s real work, but it’s a work of passion and dedication. Any one can learn the art if their heart is in it
I love watching kitchen nightmares cause, as also a restaurant owner, it helps me see what’s the right and wrong way to go about things and what to avoid. I also love to compare my own food with the ones shown here lol
Have googled. If kitchen nightmare restaurants are open in operation and almost all of them have closed after 3 months of chef Ramsay not being there and this is another one
This was amazing. I usually am furious watching the Chefs on KN. This man needed help & appeared to be willing to accept it. He had an unnecessary panic one hour into post makeover service. But with a bollo**ing from GR & is young chef they got him back on track.
Definitely one of the more wholesome saves. Everyone were so supportive and understanding of each other and knew they had an issue that needed to be fixed.
when the owner is not arrogant and admit his fridge is shit. Gordon doesn't yell. he just say " get the team in earlier and start cleaning. Gordon is truly a sweetheart.
I wish I had a dad like chef gordon . I would love to cook great food for my friends and family I try so hard but can never think of anything to make .
These are always the best episodes of any Ramsey show. This isn't a case of Ego, Denial, Arrogance, Greed, this is Pain. What GR had to deal with in his childhood with his own father has made him an incredible mentor for families dealing with issues like Mike and his daughters are here. The way he looks Mike in his eyes as he tries to walk him from the edge, and the way he talks to his daughters about needing to save him and show him he is loved, you can see that isn't just for TV. That is a man caring for another man in need.
When you look at this, you realise that nobodys perfect, but Gordon doesnt just transform a business, he reconnects a family and understands howt o deal with a family thats lost someone they truly loved and because of that nearly lost the business they started and loved, but understanding how to get them and their business back on track, takes someone that understands how to deal with peoples loss and how to get them to save there business to its glorious past, well done Gordan Ramay for the profetional and mentor you are 5 STARS!!!
I know a lot is staged for the show. I'm a retired chef. I watch episodes when I cook. It's my guilty pleasure. I live alone. There is no reason for me to hold a raw steak in my fist like it's the bleeding heart of my enemy and yell in a British accent "IT'S FAHCKING RRAWR YOU MUPPET!!!" I do this a lot. I buy lots of steak.
I mean i dont think he overcooked the steak that is quite clearly mid rare on the inside. Just a really bad sear on the outside on a grill that isnt scrubbed in service so all the charcoal just forms a crust around anything he grills on there.
@@shugmchugh5107 The chef said 'there's no way i overcooked that steak' - problem is footage gets spliced so somewhere, there's a comment by either chef missing.
Ramsay saw him drinking and handled the situation after dinner service like a pro. He listened, he didn’t criticize, and showed the man respect while being firm that he needs to find it within himself to change.
Gordon is such a caring person. He sees to the heart of someone and while he will berate someone for being in denial or being lazy, he also has a way of looking past bad habits and behaviors to identify the root cause of the problems and help the person not just a restaurant
I want to start a restaurant, run it to the ground, get Ramsey in to save the restaurant. Tell him the spaghetti is fresh home made and serve him microwaved frozen "great value" brand spaghetti to see what he says 😂
The episodes with the unhinged lunatics are fun, but this is my favorite episode by far. Mike strikes one as a good guy, who was broken down by his loss of his father and his overwork rooted in his love for his family. I hope he beat his demons in his new career in the catering business. Daniel was just a gem of a sous chef - humble, hard-working and ready to step up. And Mike's daughters were also really likeable. An episode to really root for the protagonists.
I love how the daughters don't have any resentment towards their dad for his behavior and understand he's struggling mentally. Beautiful family

that was to funny
Mike: “I’m feeling that fire in my gut”
That’s probably the contaminated lobster bisque, Mike
😂
Great episode. A supportive family and kitchen, and a story of a man who lost his way after a tragedy. No egos or fights..
good people. Wish the best for them, even after the fall of the restaurant. They deserve to be happy
The daughters love their dad. When they sat on the sofa and held each others hands, to support one another, it made me cry.
After Chef Ramsay asked if the carpeting could be installed that night, I just loved when the Carpet Store guy said, "absolutely." That's a great businessman! 🙂
Damn, this is genuinely first episode where I teared up, this guy wasn't stuck up or just grade A ass, and he did deserve Ramsay's help
Mike and Nellie’s Steakhouse closed in January 2012, which was around half a year after the visit from Gordon Ramsay and only three months after the Mike and Nellie’s Kitchen Nightmares episode aired on TV.
Truly sad. I really wanted them to succeed.
@graceaute3648 It seems like he closed it so he could do an easier form of food work for himself. He has a 5* catering company now.
Smaller sized but way more profitable, and he picks his clients! AND HE SELLS STEAKS ON THE MENU! ❤
@@graceaute3648I believe they own a catering buisness now, which is supposedly doing well. So their still successful
"You smell so goood!" .. even the young girls hit on Gordon! LOL
I don't blame them, I'd make a move on gordon amd I'm a dude lmao
He's daddy af
He could be my actual dad, like im roughly half his age, but even i find him attractive😂 i would not date him tho lol. Would like to be friends with him tho lool
@@lenax9798 maybe aim to befriend his children your age? :)
@christiannilsen2835 I could but I'm not from UK xD
Mike seems like a kind gentleman. I understand the depression he was feeling.
Losing my Dad is one hardest things I have experienced 😢

I like that owner Mike. He is a genuine man that is going through a hard time. He seems like a very nice guy, and he is a VERY hard worker.
They're all so caring towards each other, love that
Lexi trying to put the subtle move on Ramsey 😂
well Ramsey has done it before i think twice..his wife forgave him.

Gordon is a DILF.
@@Ace-ke7fq Wait for real?
So rare to see a kitchen with a competent chef that didn’t falter on reopening day. He wasn’t too worn out yet😅
Just needed to learn to take a step back and trust his staff
I love when someone says the food is not the problem because instantly it means the food is the problem 😂
19:39 this chef is depressed and out of his own control. He is overwhelmed. You can see the compassion😔 and caring on Ramsay’s face.. He’s not being reprehensive, but listening and commenting quietly and caringly.
I've seen this clip more times than I've seen my family this last year💀

This show tears me apart seeing these broken men. Really breaks my heart seeing how hard they try but it's too much and they need help so bad. Ty Ramsey, you're out here saving lives. 🙌
Sister #2 was ready to risk it all
Mike's daughters really had maturity well beyond their years. There was no mention of a wife or girlfriend in Mike's life, and they probably had to grow up faster than they wanted to. You can see how much they love their dad; it really shows in this video.
Mike and Nellie’s Steakhouse closed in January 2012, which was around half a year after the visit from Gordon Ramsay and only three months after the Mike and Nellie’s Kitchen Nightmares episode aired on TV.
As of 2023, the old Mike and Nellie’s Oakhurst NJ location is occupied by an Italian restaurant named Posillipo, which seems to have average reviews according to Yelp.
this post should be pinned! thanks for the update
Been sober 14 years...for me, AA helped tremendously. Good luck buddy.
You made the best decision, well done 😊
for anyone ever going into a carpet store and asking if that can be done tonight....Only Gordon Ramsey would get a YES
lol! any buainess for that matter.
He just lost his way, he isn’t a bad cook at all, he just needed new spark, this is awesome
Am I the only one watching these videos with tears? These videos are so powerful, better than most drama movies.
Idk to either like or dislike your comment to tell youre not alone but youre not alone :')
This daughter is loyal notice she didn't mention dad's drinking problem when she picked Chef Ramsey up ?
Yeah. A lot of times the dudes family can't wait to throw him under the bus in every way to Gordon.
Every kitchen nightmare has the same common denominator; delusion and denial.
Yeah almost as if it's a TV SHOW that aim for ratings
I love Gordon Ramsay . He’s my inspiration! Such an amazing person
Inspiration maybe, but sometimes I find people like him specially how he is portrayed in tv are a bit too much. I cant be perfect, all the time. No one can.
For all the owners of the restaurant that Chief Ramsay visiting, this is the only owner that accepts all the criticisms from chief gordon. ❤️ He really wanted to change ❤️
The only change for that dude will be when he attends an AA meeting.
Chef
@@camillebelle9873Well, you'd know it's French for boss.
What a lovely man. His current catering service looks amazing.
Have googled. If kitchen nightmare restaurants are open in operation and almost all of them have closed after 3 months of chef Ramsay not being there and this is another one
I am so impressed with the daughter. Smart, capable, intuitive. Polite but firm. She could be a real success.

He turned it into a steak house but the make over looks like it should be a seafood place lol
I agree, it did not have a steakhouse feel to it. And now that you mention it, it was very seafoody inside.
This is the one of the most enjoyable episode with lots of positive energy.
This was amazing. I usually am furious watching the Chefs on KN. This man needed help & appeared to be willing to accept it. He had an unnecessary panic one hour into post makeover service. But with a bollo**ing from GR & is young chef they got him back on track.
“Yeah…can you get the bug?” Oh my I would be absolutely mortified
Definitely one of the more wholesome saves. Everyone were so supportive and understanding of each other and knew they had an issue that needed to be fixed.
"Ah yes, the food looks absolutely dreadful."
- Me while eating a slice of stale bread with ketchup.
😂😂😂❤
- Also me, while eating a tortilla with half a slice of ham and mayo-ketchup
For one man to be blessed with 2 such beautiful daughters! Beautiful inside and out.
I like how when Gordon was telling Mike about his thoughts about the food, he was doing it quite delicately and in almost whispers.
I feel really bad for Mike, Dude just sounded so defeated and like he'd given up..
This episode made me soo emotional ❤️🥹 Mike really wanted to change he just needed the push after his dad’s death ❤️
when the owner is not arrogant and admit his fridge is shit. Gordon doesn't yell. he just say " get the team in earlier and start cleaning. Gordon is truly a sweetheart.
I wish I had a dad like chef gordon . I would love to cook great food for my friends and family I try so hard but can never think of anything to make .
38:53 😭😭😭 there's something so moving about an older man missing "daddy." Made me tear up!
The lady at the beginning who said "its soggy" was still shoveling that shit down her throat and talking with a mouth full of food.
Gordon gives zero ducks about seatbelts
14:40 Mike was so in denial he broke the screen
When you look at this, you realise that nobodys perfect, but Gordon doesnt just transform a business, he reconnects a family and understands howt o deal with a family thats lost someone they truly loved and because of that nearly lost the business they started and loved, but understanding how to get them and their business back on track, takes someone that understands how to deal with peoples loss and how to get them to save there business to its glorious past, well done Gordan Ramay for the profetional and mentor you are 5 STARS!!!
For such an emotional scene, they really had to use the damn violin sound at 20:44, I can’t unhear it now everytime I rewatch episodes lmao
Absolutely no one:
Me garnishing a ramen cup with an egg and green onion before playing this episode: Byootiful
I know a lot is staged for the show.
I'm a retired chef. I watch episodes when I cook. It's my guilty pleasure.
I live alone. There is no reason for me to hold a raw steak in my fist like it's the bleeding heart of my enemy and yell in a British accent "IT'S FAHCKING RRAWR YOU MUPPET!!!"
I do this a lot. I buy lots of steak.
That steak at the start....... There must have been a perfect sliver of meat somewhere between the blood and the ashes
Someone:didn't you watch this already?
Me:yes
Someone:why are you watching it again?
Me:ITS GORDON
🤓
Mike’s daughters are cute and I think it is amazing how supportive they are of their father. A young man would be lucky to be with either of them.
He'd be a grandfather by now.
Telling that poor family just trying to enjoy lunch “thank god you didn’t have the chicken Murphy (however it’s spelled)” is wild. 😂😂😂😂
The father doesn't trust anyone else to cook yet he himself BURRRRNS EVERYTHING.
I mean i dont think he overcooked the steak that is quite clearly mid rare on the inside. Just a really bad sear on the outside on a grill that isnt scrubbed in service so all the charcoal just forms a crust around anything he grills on there.
He didn't say it was overcooked, he said it was like charcoal, which it was for the reasons you just stated
Inside did look perfect
12:44@@shugmchugh5107
He absolutely did.
@@shugmchugh5107 The chef said 'there's no way i overcooked that steak' - problem is footage gets spliced so somewhere, there's a comment by either chef missing.

Dude looks at his plate like “uh oh.”
Well said!
AMY and the "haters"!
